Mick Taylor's first sole is merely great. The second solo is full-on devastation. He was 24 years old I believe. Some ancient, eternal power was speaking through him that day.
Mick Taylor's lead here is full on virtuoso. It's hard to find one better. Brilliant and nuanced as hell. Jagger's vocals at their best--And then there's the great "Mr Watts". He NEVER fails to lift a song, no matter how great, a notch higher. This song goes right to the heart.

This has got to be the most soul wrenching song they did, it hit me hard when I first heard it all those yrs ago and it still gives me chills. Along with Moonlight Mile my 2 all time fav Stones tracks
I’ve been listening to Anybody Seen my Baby Lately…before that Sway…I just always come back to the old Stones…anything on Exile… can’t even understand how it was ever panned, if you can dance, you wouldn’t dare 😂❤😊
Perhaps my favorite Stones track. It all works. Powerful lyrics and vocal performance, great gtr solos, the rhythm section and the strings. I never tire of listening to it.
Mick Taylor ´s guitar solo is not "Only rock and roll but I like it"...ITS AMAZING....ITS INCREDIBLE....ITS HIGH LEVEL ART REALIZED WITH AN ELECTRIC GUITAR !!!!!!
Amazing song, makes you think about your life. Sometimes the demons are just there sometimes you just have to turn it around. You never know when life’s going to bring you.
I put on the Sticky Fingers CD (I had a rent a car & I wasn’t about to listen to Free radio cuz it’s awful) & let it play & by the end of the day I could not get this song out of my head, for 2 days, that era Stones music is just dripping with swagger ,attitude & quite a few other feelings & emotions....kids should be required to listen to this 🤨they made 3-4 flawless albums from 69-72
It was the beste and the powerfull Time, in Stones Ära 1969-1972..In this Ära it comes the best unbelible and powerfull Musik and songs from Stones.. Before and after it was alsi good and strong.. But in this short time Stones where magnificent and amazing..
Great hard guitars and slide guitar so in tune with Charlie but what lift the song to another level beside the mick Taylor solo is the piano ,Nicky Hopkins?
dgrichmondbc mate, you say they had the best 4 consecutive albums of all time, from ‘Beggars Banquet’ to ‘Exile on...’ ? Not only do I agree, but I’ve just had a (not thorough, admittedly) quick thought-flow through some timeless and awesome bands/artists and there really isn’t that many that can hold up 4 classic albums, full stop. Although actually, as I write this, tunes are popping into my head to remind me....Bowie, Eminem, Guns n Roses (I might be cheating here but, yes - both the ‘Illusion’s’ had, ok, just(!)enough good/great songs to make (my) the list anyway) Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Prince. Ok, writing this I realise most of the above have always been consistently classic too. Funny tho, can, or has, modern music in the last 10 years or so produced anyone at all who can join this list with 4 legends of their own? Erm, off on a tangent a bit, but: why on earth is Mick’s vocal beauty on songs such as ‘I got the blues’ and ‘Let it loose’ to name just 2 (otherwise, wow, I could go on) not more recognised/applauded? 😜
You can feel the Jagger-Richards Friendship so much in this song. Jagger, singing Richards words. Probably like Keith thought of them. It's so Rock n roll i got no words..

I just take it as a strut which means like this arrogant walk which some birds have. Strutting is also something Jagger is famous for with his manners live. So the line is basically that "love is the way that arrogantly and nonchalant walks out of your life". But what do I know? Haha. If I'm not right then don't blame me. I'm from Sweden. :)
Yeah , I absolutely think you've nailed it , dang been listenin to that song since high school & I suppose never got that til now thank you both for asking & answering this HA made my day !!!
"There must be ways to find out -- Love is the way they say..." I see it as like There must be a way to "find out" or understand why life is the way it is or how can you get through it. And people are always saying love is the way, it's all about love, love is so great and like a celebration, and there's sex and the rest of it... but then you discover that the "demon life" will always find you again.
What about how the pianist is supporting with such sensitiveness, interplay and intensity that match this wonderful second solo? Unique flaw: the fade out. It should have been last eternally!
Is there someone who can give me an idea about the meaning of "Love is the way they say is really strutting out", please? I'm Italian and I ain't deeply familiar with English.
