Can’t believe their was a time where Mitch Trubisky was a pro-bowl quarterback.
Kinda like how Carson Wentz was an MVP front runner
@@briant1745I’m wishing on a shooting star he regain that form for my rams but I highly doubt it
Don’t disrespect the NVP
Remember when Tim Tebow was a pro bowler?
As a Bears fan I want to kill myself over that pick
2 key players you left out of the 2015 Denver Broncos defense were Darian Stewart and TJ Ward. Without those 2, Denver would have never made it past New England. Stewart was a pure ball hawk, had a great vision for the field and broke on the ball extremely well. TJ Ward was a pure downhill safety, run stuffer who put 110% into every play. The combination of Stew and Ward on the back end, Strap Harris and Talib in man coverage, Bradley Roby in the slot (rookie year), and Von and Ware 2 First Ballot Hall of Famers rushing the passer. Truly a defense for the history books.
That defense was insane
Chiefs scored on them pretty easily that year.

No Fly Zone 💯
Texans defense in 2011-2015 was unbelievable and a blast to watch. I remember being more excited for defense, than the offense, for many years because of JJ and the boys
If only they had a elite qb
@@Renegade-kf8fpliterally. I know the controversy around him overshadows his Texans success now, but had Deshaun Watson come into the NFL just 5 years earlier, the Texans would have been super bowl champions for sure. Deshaun absolutely shredded the LOB defense
It was so beautiful bro
@@MrScotty2Hotty28he threw 3 picks and they lost lol . 2017 was also not part of the LOB years
@@Retro_Apollo He threw for 400 yards and 4 TDs too, of which one of them gave them the lead with less than 2 mins left. It's not like he was bad that day. Also Kam Sherm and Earl were still there so it was LOB
Defenses are evolving the same way offenses are. Hence, the overall scoring and RZ efficiency being down this year. Most team’s base defense is basically nickel. In some ways, you can see where the defenses are catching up to the offensive renaissance that guys like Mcvay and McDaniel have started. Love to see it. Can’t wait to see what the next pivot will be. The game is always evolving.
Browns defense this year has been so fun to watch.
If the chiefs goes back to back this season then it’s game over for rest of the league
It’s running with bigger backs. To play these nickel defenses you need smaller faster guys. They are usually a bit undersized. With the whole league having them to stop the high powered offenses it can be exploited. Getting a giant line and running the ball down defenses throats with a big strong back who doesn’t rely on speed to make over aggressive defenses miss is the path forward. The league is and always will be cyclical.
@@VinegarAndSaltedFriesIs that why I see fewer players who are labeled “linebacker”?
@@fortynights1513 yeah absolutely. Gone are the days of Brian Urlacher…in fact in today’s NFL he would be exposed as a liability. On rare occasion does a player close to his size (TJ Watt) line up in coverage. To mixed success. But yeah the true linebacker position has been deemed a wasted high draft pick alongside runningbacks by the likes of PFF and the Analytics crowds. In reality that’s only for the current NFL not looking into the future. Believe it or not some teams were already preparing but it’s only teams where coach’s have safety/steadiness at position. You can see Mike Tomlin, Bill B, and even Andy Reid leaning into larger stronger runningbacks. To mixed success but winning teams are always going to do it the slower way because the opportunity for high draft stock isn’t the greatest.
Kam Chancellor was a bad, bad man. 5:35 One of my favorite safeties of all time. Easily
Best part about him, he almost never hit dirty. He made people pay, and never got in trouble for it
Excellent player
Bam-Bam was amazing. Definitely one of the most underrated safeties. I also own his jersey and am a Seahawks fan. But you can't deny his impact on the field.
@@DerickFranks The ability to play coverage as a top level safety, and the run like a top level LB, while also being a football locker room leader cannot be understated. I sincerely hope, as a fan of football, he gets into the Hall. I can't think of 2010's football without him he's one of the guys that defined NFL football in his decade and hopefully the Hall one day agrees. I don't feel robbed his career ended as it did, I feel blessed I ever got to watch him play in the first place.
@@Gungho73 Amen to that. It was such an honor to have him on the Seahawks.
The fact that manning was so completely ineffective in that SB season adds to the legend of the Broncos defense. Very clearly they were good enough to not only stop opposing teams, but score their own points and win games despite a lame duck offense.
The AFC North is absolutely loaded on defense this year, the Browns and Ravens boast the top two defenses in the league (time will tell which is #1 and which is #2), the steelers defense is practically dragging their putrid offense to contention, and the Bengals defense is as underrated as ever in the Lou era. And if the season ended today, every team in the division would be in the playoffs.

For what it's worth, that 2014 Seahawks team had roughly 1/4 of a healthy defensive secondary in the Super Bowl, with more getting injured during the game
as soon as lane had got injured brady started to pick them apart.
I remember they all played injured too. I believe Sherman, Thomas, and Chancellor were all injured. After Lane got hurt, Tharold Simon came in and was complete ASS and Brady picked him apart

As a Ravens fan, i know 100% that somehow they f it up along the line.
We sold our soul for Flaco and we pay the price now
Well there was a little bias in his selections, he made sure to always pick teams that made the playoffs despite if the numbers could be read to say another defense was better by a little bit.
I had z dream almost a year ago... the eagles and ravens played in the superbowl

If you go back a few years that same Steelers Defense from 2010 won 2 Super Bowls in 05/06 and 08/09. It's one of the most underrated defensive dynasties that dominated for the better half of a decade. But with that said you still need an offense that can make enough plays.
That niners defense in 2011/2012 and 2019 was special fr 💯

Wish I could go back in time and better appreciate how good and fun that Steelers defense was to watch around that 2002 to 2012 stretch. Was easy to take it for granted at the time. But I really think that was the last era of true smash mouth football. Still love the game, but defenses just aren’t allowed to play like that anymore. Some of those Steelers Ravens games around that period were just insane.
I like how NFC West has 6 teams in here. This shows the quality this division has had in this decade. Also as a Seahawks fan, having 3 of those teams (albeit in the LOB era) is extra special.

I live for KTO videos. Bro just loves the game of football and that reflects in the quality of his videos.
Very fitting that the 2010/2011 super bowl was between the top two defenses in football. I'm biased as a Packers fan but that was one of the most exciting super bowls in recent memory, prime Rodgers was insane
Great Vid like always KTO I’m extremely shocked that Luke Kuechly was never able to get Carolina to a number one defense but come to think about they never had a good secondary when he played outside that season Josh Norman went off

I love your content man! I’ve been watching you for a long time and I’ve always loved your videos. Keep it up.❤
I'd like to see this go back further, from 1990-2009. Cuz I remember the 1996 Packers, #1 Offense, #1 Defense, #1 Special Teams, 13-3 record, SB31 Champs, one of the best NFL teams in history besides the obvious ones like the 72 Dolphins.
Only 1 team scored 30 points on the Packers and that was at the MN Vikings in week 4 in a loss. They were undefeated at Lambeau, recorded 26 interceptions in their favor, several for TD's. In one of the losses, which was to the Cowboys at Dallas, they did lose 21-6, but they didn't give up TD's, they were all FG's! In all 3 playoff contests, the Packers scored 30+ points including the SB.
Dominant doesn't begin to describe that team.
In fact I was just doing some random research on this team, I noticed only 2 players on defense who missed a start, DT Santana Dotson, and DE Sean Jones. Dotson still played all 16 games, but at Dallas the Packers threw a curveball and played a 3-4 defense on the 1st snap rather than their traditional 4-3 under DC Fritz Shurmur, Dotson was subbed by LB Ron Cox on the play. Sean Jones was the only player to miss a game due to injury/illness, and it was at St. Louis in week 13. Gabe Wilkins who would replace Sean Jones the following year started and played at DE that game. None of the secondary got hurt, none of the LB's got hurt, Reggie White and Gilbert Brown started every game.
96 Packers were an excellent team, and the only team that simultaneously scored the most points and allowed the fewest since the salary cap was implemented.
2018 Bears could’ve went undefeated in the regular season.
Week one: miracle Rodger’s comeback, bears dropped a pick in the 4th quarter that would’ve sealed the game for them.
Week 6: Overtime loss against dolphins in a game where the bears were playing the refs as well. Missed field goal late would’ve won them the game.
Week 7: loss a 31-38 thriller against the to-be Super Bowl champs. A trubisky Hail Mary at the end of the game was inches from tying it. It was caught and stuffed just short of the goal line.
Week 13: backup QB against the giants in arguably one the season’s most weird and exciting games.
Had they won any of these games, they would’ve had a better seed and a bye, avoiding the wildcard and the double doink.
Ong dude, little things like missed field goals against the dolphins and giants or a dropped pick against rodgers add up man. That was our year
I appreciate you talking about our last good year. Only headlines we make nowadays are for futility. Thanks for reminding me of the good times in 2018

How were the Vikings in 2017 not #1 defense despite being first in points and yards?
He probably didn’t choose them because of the bad loss in the conference championship but that defense absolutely suffocated opposing offenses. If it was 3rd down, teams may as well should have just punted because almost no one converted on them.
Yea I don't get it either.
It's crazy how the 49ers had the best defense in 2011 and then 11 years later with an entirely different roster they once again have the best defense. I hope I see the 49ers just get over the hump and win it all again but we'll see what happens.
Another great vid kto I’ve been watching for 5 plus years and the standard hasn’t changed only improved

always a good day when KTO posts
I'm definitely in the minority of NFL fans who love good defensive games. Low scoring games are so entertaining to me. I feel its more of a chess match than when its a high scoring game. Both are fun to watch but I prefer low scoring. I'm not even a seahawks fan but watching the legion of boom was some of the most fun I've had watching football. And Patrick Willis is one of my favorite players of all time. Maybe I enjoy good defense cause being a saints fan and watching our historically bad defense get torched made me appreciate defense more. Yes losing Drew hurts but at least I can watch us be great on the other side of the ball. And yes, I absolutely fantasize about how this current roster would look if we had Breesus at the helm lol.
On god dude. I hate hearing people watch a low scoring game and say “that’s bad football” no dude it’s called defense
I agree. One of my favorite SB was SB 53 the Rams vs the Patriots. Talk about a defensive game!!!
I think the reason why most people don´t like low scoring games is because in a lot of low scoring games, it´s not as much the defenses that shine but the offenses that totally fail, like Jets - Giants. While in high scoring games, at least the offenses put up a show.
I think it's more that people like well played games. A game where teams can't score because they're offensive playcalling is a mess or something won't be very fun to watch. On the flip side, a game like the 2008 Ravens vs. Titans divisional is epic despite being low scoring.
@@loganlennon8708
The only reason why people think SB was a dud is because there really isn't any memorable plays in the game. It's one thing if defenses are making more plays than the offense, but it's another when it's just a lot of 3 and outs and the punter is making the best plays of the game...
As a jets fan this year I feel like our defense has number 1 potential this year and the next year or two yet we’re gonna be terrible until we have a even decent QB. Having a top tier defense definitely wins championships

The 2018 Bears were one of the best defenses of the decade yet they don’t seem to get recognition for their performance, probably because they didn’t win a playoff game. I remember watching them completely shut down my Rams’ high-powered offense (which was never quite the same after that game) on SNF in Week 14 of that season, and that made me really scared of Chicago that season. That defense was really good.
I had the Bears defense on my fantasy team, and they actually gave me aot of points consistently. I believe they had 7 defensive TDs that year? Or more?
@@doccholo905 I think Eddie Jackson alone had 3 or 4 and if i remember right Amos had one and Fuller had one or 2. Mack also had one in the first game against the packers. They were really fun to watch... In an alternate universe they drafted Mahomes and that team was one of the best teams ever
I knew this was going to come up in this video because their defense was so good. The double doink still hurts a ton, though.

THAT 2018 BEARS WILL NEVER NOT HURT
It hurts every time like it’s the first time 😣😭😭
I’ll never forget the Steelers Suplexing Vince Young.
One interesting note about the 2017 Sacksonville Jags AFC Champs against Brady. LB Myles Jack forced a Dion Lewis fumbled and recovered. He began running the ball back and had potential for the scoop and score which would have effectively iced the game, but the refs blew the play dead prematurely.
Should be noted, almost every one of those years, There's at least 1 AFC North Team in the top ten. I love my Steelers, and while I may not like the other teams in my division, I respect that the AFC North prides itself on great defense.
That final play at the end of the video (Roby scoop and score on the Chiefs) was kind of a sign of things to come that season for the Broncos
(It was also the last time the Broncos would beat the Chiefs for the next 8 years)
Well, looking through all of those lists every year, you will find some consistency with the Steelers & Ravens. Of course I am biased, being a Ravens fan but when these 2 teams meets, it's well worth the price of admission!
When KTO uploads I know I'm gonna reminisce about 2000s/2010s football or learn something I never knew about a previous era of the game

The 2019 Patriots defense was incredible, but I will fully stand by the Steelers having the best defense that year. If you think the Steeler's defense is currently carrying a trash offense, 2019 was a completely different level. The Steelers were averaging 2.5 takeaways per game and were still be out possessed by about 10 minutes each game. The defense nearly brought a team led by Duck Hodges (the GOAT) and Mason Rudolph, with leading receiver James Washington, and James Conner and Benny Snell rushing about equally to the playoffs. Not only that, but that was Minkah's first year as a Steeler and he came about three games in so the numbers probably would've been even better and they might've actually crawled into the playoffs. Oh yeah and TJ was fourth in sacks and had two interceptions and eight forced fumbles.
Love the videos man been watching since 8th grade I’m in my second year of college now
great content
Should do ones on College Defenses. The Michigan 2017 one comes to mind. Ik they went 8-5 but that defense was the only reason we won any games. Rashan Gary, Mo Hurst, Chase Winovich, Devin Bush, Carlo Kemp, Khaleke Hudson, Mike McCray, Josh Ross, Kiwty Paye, Josh Uche and a few other guys. Im confident all those guys got drafted/signed to NFL teams. It was like a buzzsaw that year
Love this idea
So, as a Louisville football fan my whole life, I know what a bad defense looks like, but this year, watching this defense that we have, I love it. I like games that are close and are decided by defensive stops
First video of urs that I’ve come this early
As a Raiders fan, watching your defense play well when they havent in years is so fun
2017 still bothers me. The refs robbed the jags by calling myles Jack down on that fumble recovery against the pats. That would've been a huge difference maker for them and I'd bet they'd've put up a hell of a fight in the SB
An all time defense can win it all on their own, but it's extremely hard to build up a complete defensive and special teams unit like that.
This is so sick you should do like best rushing offenses in the 90s

That 2019 patriots defense was something special, Gilmore was insane all year
I thought the patriots were gonna go 16-0
They could have gone 14-2 or 15-1… but they simply were not clutch.
i do love myself a defensive game more than an shootout. Love to see defense shut an offence down. Also the stress of a low scoring game where every first down, every score can turn a game around.
Great video but was that kings fall music in the background of the broncos defense part
The Niners defense between 2011 and 2013 was a juggernaut. The 2013 Seahawks get the notoriety, but the 2013 Niners were only slightly worse. The 2013 NFC Championship was the actual Super Bowl that year.
Always top notch. I may be biased as another Browns fan but I dont think so
The NFL wants offence to be easy and defense to be hard. Because of that, a good defense will always mean more than a good offence. They have shot themselves in the foot.
9:13 derrick wolfe was also insanely good vs the run and on the rush d line dominance
One reoccuring annoyance I personally have had is people saying the Legion of Boom was just the defensive backs-not even close to true. Michael Bennett, Red Bryant, Bobby Wagner, Bruce Irvin...pretty much the whole defense was the Legion. Every game was was a sight to behold back then.
2012 my Bears gave up 30+ more points, about 100 more yards total and 13 more takeaways. Insane!
