are they worth the money then? they’ve always peeked my interest for their good looks and safety standard but long term reliability is something I’ve always wondered
I don’t believe tools are required to adjust the Ohlin suspension ? I was under the impression that there was a knob on each that is turned by hand to adjust them ?
Yep, I came to post this. There's no physical connection from the engine to the rear drive system. And the battery location is ideal for driving dynamics. Most cars put it in the trunk which can sway at highway speeds.
I really like you include your girls opinion in these; many of us do no drive a car just alone, but have someone in the passenger seat who's opinion is just as valuable, or even more ... She needs to be comfortable, both driving and being the passenger princess. This looks like a comfortable car for the passenger. Still in doubt between a Lexus GS or the V60/S60, mmm
I am in love with Volvo. The subtlety of their cars is what makes them so refreshing. Everything is so overstyled and super-sized nowadays that seeing a subtle and sleek wagon is a breath of fresh air. They really nailed these cars both inside and out. The exterior is so subtle, but so luxurious looking
Recently bought a diesel V60 with Polestar upgrade. Cross country version. This is my ultimate car. I cannot fault it. Seats perfect. Ample power. Decent fuel economy. Great screen. Steering and transmission perfect. Quiet. Love it 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
I picked up a 2024 S60 Recharge a couple weeks ago, Denim blue with blonde interior, so far is the best car I've ever owned. I've had a few nice vehicles over the years, BMW X3, Genesis G70, the Volvo surpasses everything, just the way it drives, it's so comfortable and smooth. Volvo really knocked it out of the park with their plug in hybrids.
I was lucky to pick up a 2007 Volvo S40 for my first car last year - it’s not perfect, and I wasn’t able to get the wagon nor turbo engine, but man I love that little whip! Now a certified Volvo fanboy - and they just keep getting better! (Every time you or others from the POV crew post a Volvo video I get so hyped) Love your videos Sub Topher, keep it up! Always so chill and fun.
Seeing the reviews of this car might put it on my bucket list honestly. I love how it looks, I love the manually adjustable dampers, the wagon versatility... Now if only it wasn't WAY out of my price point 😭
about the lack of storage in the center console: the non-recharge models have quite a bit more space (including a huge center bin) so im pretty sure its due to the batteries that run the length of the car
10:39 Bro, the small groove in front of this center console armrest you've opened is specifically designed for placing your phone. You can position your phone at a 45-degree angle on it, and there's space below for a charging cable to connect while the phone is placed. The only drawback is that the groove is limited to holding phones up to the size of an iPhone 16 Pro. Larger phones, like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, won’t fit😢.
Half the reason I watch you is to see my old boring raods driven haha 😄 lived in Troy Ohio most of my life and now in PNW so the endless nothingness roadtrips to Ohio bring me back. And hey, excellent V60 vid, wanting to euro delivery option one so bad! You and the toph are awesome along with your significant other there riding along
the battery is in the center console, that's why it's not a lot of space there. also there is a spot for your phone, the slot right in front of the button to the center console storage.
Volvo is the one that surprised me the most when I did my last round of test drives car shopping. I test drove an XC60. I agree with you on the sound system, it seriously is THE best. I would get a Volvo if I didn't want to get an economy car and didn't want to pay German luxury prices. It kind of sits in the middle. The handling is actually really German like and has more power than a lot of economy cars on the market. Also the interiors are nice. The Subaru was hilarious. I'm in Seattle and every time I see Subaru I use extra caution, even though usually they just go annoyingly slow.
Spring seems to have arrived here in Maine as well. Kudos to you for the Sprite, the absolute GOAT when it comes to soda. 27:19 "yeah I say this same thing one thousand times per day"
they really need to have more fast wagons (or wagons in general) in the states bruh. id love to see how this compares to the RS4 avant and such also i like how these vids are essentially the much appreciated slice-of-life episodes in between the full reviews you and Topher have across the channels lol
5:36 of course when you're more careful about it the hood doesn't shut all the way 😂 Great review, you and TheTopher are my go-to channels for POV car videos (or any car video for that matter)!
I daily a V70R and I don't need any other vehicle. It's practical, rides decent, and is quick enough to scratch the itch. I get to have my cake and eat it too. This V60 reminds me of my wagon.
The acceleration test at 8:52 wasn’t exactly accurate because you had started the drive in hold drive mode. This doesn’t activate the large rear motor so the test was basically a T6 engine (turbo-super charged) and FWD because these are technically eAWD.
@@DominiqueHoesen I thought the same but then saw twin charged and the hp/tq of just the engine alone is the same as T6. Something like 312/295 split. I assume drop from 316 hp T6 because it’s FWD.
9:51 not a fan of how you use the gas nozzle tip to press the octane button at fill up. Gas has benzine which is really toxic when it gets on skin or ingested, you’re adding more to a high touch point and creating additional hazard for other people. You could use the base of the handle to accomplish the same thing.
Pls shut up, let the man be. Gas stations have many, many, many other things to worry about than tapping the button with the nozzle. Just wash your hands afterwards, you'll have to either way after touching anything near the gas station.
Nice video. I think the bump in the back is more battery related than a transmission tunnel (there is no drive shaft going to the rear). Does your phone not fit (vertically) in the slot in front of the center console? I find that's where my phone fits nicely there and allows for a plug to go into the phone. I also find the HVAC controls really awkward through the touchscreen, so prefer using it through the Google assistant.
If you use the inbuilt Google navigation for your destination the car will optimize what drive system is in use for better efficiency. Also there is a phone holder directly in front of the center console armrest, leaves space for the charger cord too
The hump in the middle is also on the non awd versions bcs they all use the same body. It's kind of frustrating when you close the hood not slamming it it never shuts both latches. I've had it a couple of times. On the 'normal' models or at least my 2020 model has carplay but it's only like half screen so that's something i don't really like. And the cupholders on mine are pretty bad. When i want to use them while my phone is plugged in i have to put my phone in the pretty small center console. the cupholders don't really hold bottles or cans steady. The driving is really good. going over big bumps you can feel the rear doesn't have traditional suspension but a leaf setup. Understeer is something i feel sometimes while pushing it hard tho. But normal smooth highway driving is really good. Mine has the 16inch standart wheels with meety tires so it rolls pretty good. I did 2K km this summer on a road trip wich the car handled really good. On autobahn mine hit 230kmh so for some reason mine doesn't have the speed limitor. Overall it's a really good car especially highway. They have some aftermarket support but not like Vag or BMW.
and yes the seats in other v60 models go super low. The parking cameras on other models are optional so when parking it can be tricky to see where the nose of the car is because it's really long.
22:39 that seat rail being window height made me so anxious when I saw how close it was to the window. I’d have been worried the whole way home about corners.
A V60 should be in my driveway in a month if all goes well. While I wanted a pure EV like the Polestar 2, I do need to make longer highway trips on occasion, I dislike how high the PS2 sits, and I really love the wagon shape. The fact that it also has a real sunroof was the real deal maker for me. I use my sunroof 12 months a year. Unless it is raining or snowing, if I a driving, it is open. As for putting seats into it. Many years ago I had a BMW 31ti, the much maligned hatchback. It swallowed two "vader" seats from an M3 into the back of it's truncated hatch. Hatchbacks and wagons are just a superior design for moving both people and things.
I love all the Volvo Estate videos! p.s. I think you suppose to stick your phone just upright in the little cubby where the cable comes out of the middle console! There is no space the put the phone anywhere flat anyway haha. Greetings from Volvo Wagon Land / The Netherlands
5:20 Diesel truck? Wow that is a really nice sounding diesel truck in the US. Pardon my ignorance, but I thought you hated diesels across the pond? Although, that sounds like a very powerful diesel, doubt we have something like that over here. We fell out with diesels due to dieselgate anyway, but when shopping it's still an instinctive choice for high mileage drivers.
My mom is older and she was looking at trading her 2003 Volvo XC70 in for a new V60 but the giant touch screen was a deal breaker for her. She said for someone of her age it’s too distracting. Having driven numerous Volvos for work I have to say I agree with her. I’d like for Volvo to add physical climate controls to their vehicles.
Interestingly enough, most people complain that the screen is getting a bit too old & small in this day and age. They could have done better with climate controls, agreed. It seems this is where most manufacturers are going in terms of design now, at least European ones.
I’ve owned two Volvo XC60s since 2021 and I had a Mazda loaner for a week last fall when I was visiting my hometown. The Mazda key and Volvo key are completely different keys, the Mazda Key echos the design of the Volvo key because it’s such a sleek a nice design. It has nothing to do with the old ford conglomerate. In the same way the new Mazda CX-90 has a bit of Volvo flair. Mazda just likes what Volvo is doing. I actually found the Mazda key more clearly labeled and easy to use. I do love my Volvo key, wish the key ring hole was bigger because nothing works well without getting stuck. First world problems I guess.
I love Volvo cars but the single factor keeping me from buying one is their slow steering. It’s just feels like too much effort to drive on a twisty road.
If you get a chance sometime, it'd be great to get your comments on how comfort is with the different suggested factory settings (comfort, dynamic, performance) via the video. Really curious to see how they all compare.
As good as it was to mention the colors one could pick from, it would have come through less negatively if you had also mentioned the fact that if one wants more colors to select from, as well as more accessories, wheels styles, interior finishes options, one can always go for the OSD -OverSeas Delivery option. It's probably the best kept secret, but I would think you, as involved in auto reviewing as you are would be familiar with.

@@SerPurple51 I recently saw an interview with a technical lead of the new electric EX90. He said it's their most technologically advanced vehicle platform yet, made great strides. However, the Volvo ethos is to not inundate you with all the tech or add gimmicky functions. Comment of the decade "YOU DONT NEED AN SUV"
Lovely
Those are some huge ass ac vents. They can hold your phone in them.
You should strap down those seats. They will kill you in even a small crash.
We need Emily as a new road trip passenger
if it wasnt for volvo unreliability I would consider this over Audi A6 allroad
I think they are about as reliable as Audis.
I have had my V60 for 7 yrs now. It's been perfect so far. No issues what so ever.
Volvos are not like they used to be. 80’s and 90’s were strong.
I don´t know if this car is electric, hybrid or with combustion.
Wired CarPlay? My old V60 2013 had bluetooth too lol
We need a wagon revival
Tired of lifted wagons/hatchbacks marketed as SUVs

You're entirely wrong. I've never been in danger adjusting the temperature or anything else. Volvo did it right.
Disappointing that this car doesn’t have the 4 zone climate - my 2021 V60CC has that 🥴
Soon it’ll be joined by the BMW M5 touring, thank goodness
It's such a cool looking car. The seats are horribly uncomfortable and it's way overpriced which is a shame.
Shame Volvo axed the S60 Polestar trim.
Now I want Chick-Fil-A
You can verbally tell the car to change the cabin temperature and fan speed.
Porsches Taycan GTS Sport Turismo too

I want a Volvo and think about them all the time. What has held me back is the repair cost stories…
Those are just stories. People go on the internet to complain when they're not following simple maintenance schedules. 🙄
You are a sweet couple :)
good interior shitty drivetrain & engine & suspension tuning in general, summed up
anyone can design a good interior, but not everyone can do the hardcore mechanical stuffs
Let’s be honest, you are doing fake taxi ?!😂
Volvo is supposed to match bmw, Mercedes, etc but they’re just boring
And for some people, more sensible. That can make a car more attractive. At least, that's what James May would probably say.
Volvo’s are not boring, they’re not trying to be what other brands are always pushing to be. And you don’t normally see Volvos as much as you see bmw’s and other luxury sport car brands.
In the age of over-the-top gimmicks and way too complicated electronics and over styling - "boring" is extremely refreshing.

It's not for the user to actually value and use, it is for the user to show off to a friend when he or she just bought the vehicle, and then to never use it again.
