I had a 2021 XC60 T5 R design with the 21” wheels. I now have a 2023 B6 Ultimate dark with the 22” wheels and air suspension. The larger wheels take away from the ride potential but it’s still impressive. It makes every other car feel like a wooden wagon. The seats are phenomenal on long trips. I surprisingly liked the older Volvo SENSUS on my 21’ but the google nav can’t be beat. My 2023 is thunder gray with the dark trim and I replaced all badging on the back with gloss black. I’ve never had more positive comments from strangers on any vehicle I’ve owned. I’ve loved both of my Volvos. A very sumptuous and plush car to drive for sure. I own the 2022 Volvo XC90 and it has performed flawlessly ever since I purchased it. Volvo always manufactures refined and powerful fuel-efficient vehicles.
Aw man, this reminded me of the good ole DM reviews. Pushing 80k for this is a little bit weird but the crystal shifter makes it worth it. Ironic how Charlie came back to Michigan to visit immediately after driving an Elantra N and IONIQ 5 N...
Nobody ever mentions this. But, Volvos have adjustable steering wheel drive settings. You can adjust the “feel” of the steering wheel to your liking through the “car settings” in the center console. You can choose from light upward to stiff steering mode. Other never mentioned gems are the glove box cooling feature (it keeps my water bottle nice and cool during long summer drives) and the laptop/tablet storage on each side, below the rear seat.

I am on my third Volvo. All of them have been spectacular roadtrip cars. They've all been basically the same car lol, but actually have had different seats. 21 V60 Polestar Engineered had the R-Design seats. 22 S60 had the base model seats. 24 V60 Cross Country has the Ultimate seats. All 3 are great for long periods without making you feel tired or fatigued.

I love my dads XC60 plugin 2023. I mostly drive it in B mode. Very solid car with great comfort and still an amazing interior although this car was release in 2017.
Apparentley cars are soo much cheaper in America than europe, in switzerland a fully loaded XC60 T8 costs around 108k, which is around 120'000 dollars!! Thats not even a Polestar trim level.
Thx for this video……referencing the wind noise at highway speed, I’ve heard that on another video I watched on the xc60. It is said that it appears when you’re going 70 mph. Wonder if it’s a design issue?

How is the inside noise high speed highway driving? Its hard to tell from camera microphone as it tends to be noisy but is it? Can you talk freely when driving highway?
Such a beautiful car. Not as underrated as people think. I’d say Volvo dominates the Marin county area or 10 min north of San Francisco. They make the best cars
As A auto-journalist with pretty sizeable car collection, do you sometimes miss taking one of your own cars on one of these road trips without having to think about reviewing it?
Sometimes! But I do genuinely love making these videos. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do, and still feels surreal. Honestly I wish I would’ve had a POV camera for all the road trips I did to Chicago & back as a teenager in my Cobalt SS & Lexus IS 300 😭
I have a XC40 T5 Recharge. And I must say that it's a cheap car but not the price ! There is a list of cons that I can mention. I will mention only one the infotainment is the only '23 model year model that has the old Sensus and not AAOS and cannot be upgraded, android auto is not available in full screen mode (one of the few brand that does not allow full screen AA)
Yay. The dynamic duo are back! I have to disagree w your love of current Volvos. Just had a s60 b5 rental and it was the worse powertrain ever. There was always a dangerously long lag w the initial acceleration befor an uncontrollable surge of power. Maybe it was an issue w my particular rental. I swapped it for an A4 and the power train is much better. I grew up w Volvos and currently a polestar owner so I was disappointed how much I didn’t like the s60.
It was great to be back with Charlie for this one! & Interesting to hear about the B5! I’d like to drive one now to compare to the T8 (it’s been a while since I have). I’ll say, throttle response certainly isn’t ~instant~ in any Volvo. The added response from the phev definitely helps though.
To add to your comment B&O Soundsystem are great if it’s in Home. But what they put in the car is not superior by any means. This Soundsystem sounds really nice. And I’ve had a lot of different cars, but the bin meister that’s a Mercedes will blow your mind away.
i think we all like how volvo's drive. i took an xc60 recharge on my short trip in europe and it was great. but its kind of in that alfa romeo category.... great to drive, but lots of dumb issues (see savagegeese xc90 video)
Interesting how different the lease price is on the XC60 vs the V60. About $200 more for the wagon. Given that, do you think this is similar drive experience, or would you still prefer the V60?
What about a Mazda CX 70?,in-line six plenty of storage in the back up front as well and quality materials in the cabin and out the door for around $56,000 the Volvo still seems costly even the cheaper version although the air suspension would be nice
I had a Mazda CX nine in between my Volvos. If I was going to keep an Asian car without a doubt, it would be a Mazda the fit and finish is superb in a Mazda. But it was not a Volvo so I event sold it and went back to Volvo.

Of course the information system is different. Juries out on that so far I’d like it and then sometimes they don’t like it. My other choices were the genesis, which is really sharp looking, but I read so much problems in the forms about their differential so that kind of threw that one out the window. The other one was Mercedes GLC, which really is nice but seems to have a lot of plastic for 50 some thousand dollars starting price. Is anything wrong with Mercedes? I have a convertible. But I stuck with the true blue never did me wrong Volvo. The only car that I would like to have that I’ve had in the past is a SAAB freaking general motors ruined that.
