I hope we get more of both of yall doing road trips together. You and your gf have an endearing relationship, and the bit of traveling with your significant other on long journeys shows us what it'd be like doing these trips with our own gf's/bf's.
Just got our X1 M Sport Package a month ago and I could say the looks itself is way more better than the Xline package. Suspension is also a big difference which makes our road trips really comfy.
Thanks, I did not realize how snug the trunk actually is, way too small for my family. It would require a roof trunk, which is inconvenient to store and blocks sunlight.
Thanks for the super practical real life review! So, my 2 questions: 1. How bad is the dual clutch in stop and go traffic? Is it just not smooth or unbearably uncomfortable that you wish you had picked another car? 2. I don't recall you two commenting about the seats/ride quality? How comfortable are the seats for long distance vs bumpy city roads?
I'm finding the X1 very difficult to overlook. I need to find one on the lot to look for myself, but on paper the interior passenger and cargo space both look to be on par with the Toyota Venza yet with smaller exterior dimensions. It even competes on fuel efficiency without being a hybrid and is similar in price to the Limited Venza but likely a whole lot more fun to drive and the interior to me personally looks much better.
There’s a quicker way to get back to navigation. Instead of hitting the home button and Apple car play just hit that back arrow on the upper left and you go directly to navigation.
In Germany, we also have that trucks overtake each other by hours. We call it "elephant race". 😁 Great review of the car, was fun to look at, thanks for that!
We just came back from Chicago going back to Sterling Heights as well. Small world… averaged 31ish mpg in the 23’ sorento hybrid. Allegedly going 79 mph as well. It did great, such a Great short road trip test for sure.
6:00 Emily: lemme just take a small discrete sip from my petite, almost invisible mug, and none will notice, right? Such cute couple in love, longing back to my 20-30yrs days.
BMWs need to add Driver Assistance Plus for adaptive cruise, or Driver Assistance Pro for full hands free on freeway (L2 autonomous). If you want it standard, grab your extra seat cushion and hop in an audi q3 ;)
It’s not specked with the driving assistant pro which would have the adaptive cruise control, if it was present the cruise control would toggle with the left hand arrow button between cruise control modes. Adaptive cruise control is an option after purchase through connected drive for £750 uk so I guess around the same in $, for unlimited use
I think in the US, we’re so conditioned to how torque converter automatics feel that a dual clutch comes around and we think there’s something wrong with it because it doesn’t behave like a traditional automatic. That being said, I’ve driven the Audi A3 and the Q5, both have dual-clutches, and they’ve tuned it to drive really well in city driving conditions.
I loved this video!!! shows practicality of the features, good points mentioned to consider while purchasing. Hope to see more videos with different popular vehicles. Thanks!
Wov. You can really hear how those low profile tyres hit every crack on tarmac and how noisy they are. Also they touch screen looks a bit sluggish and the idea of a driver looking at a screen while driving and using a touchscreen, considering you are not allowed to use even a smartphone while driving... well... There is a reason why traditional knobs and dials were designed so that you did not have to look at them when you had to operate them. You just knew where they are and what they do. BMW used to be good at this a long time a go.
My little sister just got her x1 a few days ago she loves everything about it the only complaint is the DCT transmission sometimes hesitating of the line and having to use the touchscreen for everything.
🇬🇧 Havha, I really wasn’t expecting you to come out with the word ‘Petrol’ because that’s what us Brits call it, I was expecting ‘Gas’ or Gasoline’. Of course we have Diesel which is used a lot more in our cars & vans. Nice to see some City of Chicago driving there too!
I'm thinking about getting one, '25 model. Did you really find it a quiet ride on the interstate? I drove one one and was a bit disappointed with the road noise. I don't like the complicated tech which is the only thing that is keeping me from buying it but it may win out. I drive a 24 CX 5 signature and thinking about an upgrade..thoughts.
They have a package for all the driver aids. It’s one complaint I have with German cars in general is that you have to add a package to get adaptive cruise ext. at that price point it should be standard. But I also wonder if they will move adaptive cruise lane keeping to their subscription based options, provided the gov does not mandate it standard like back up camera.
Audi DCTs were pretty good when I drove them a couple years ago, didn't have any real complaints about them. Then I drove a Mercedes one for a couple years as well and that was slightly more refined even. I guess if I had to think of something that annoyed me it's that it sometimes took a second to shift from D to R or the other way around which was annoying if I had to do a 3 point turn. And that they absolutely hate first gear, especially the Audi one, it would upshift to second gear immediately and refuse to shift back into first unless at a complete stand still. Did not have any jerkiness under normal driving either.
I got X1 sdrive(there was no xdrive in Korea when I bought the car) three months ago. I love the interior(that's why I bought it), but my body starts to hurt after driving a while. Driving in the city is okay but highway driving is terrible. Road noise is loud and the ride is too stiff. I used to drive A4 and.. I miss my audi.
Can you defeat the auto start stop? BTW I have a 20 x1 that replaced an older model x1 that got totaled. The old one held together well and did it’s job.💯 The 20 is well equipped including real leather and adaptive cruise control.
Go to Driving Settings (on my 2023 X1 it’s at the controls to the right of the driver and near the audio wheel, or on the screen with the apps), then Drive Chain and Chassis. You will find the stop/start menu where you can turn it off. It will go back on next time you start the car. You can set up a shortcut so that you can easily reach this function and a few others each time.
Fun and informative video. I’d like to say that if you have the voice activated personal assistant, it’s not nearly as cumbersome to make changes. Instead of looking for the app and touching the function, one merely has to say”Hey BMW, change to sport mode” or “make the temperature 72°, “etc. Very easy.
"In a car like this, that's what you need." Re: DCT. bro what. I am so glad reviewers give people little insights into what the believe and how they think so I can calibrate my trust in them. I love the "jerky" feel of the DCT. It makes it feel lively.
Kinda weird it has a dual clutch transmission. In the past 10 years bmw has had fantastic, smooth, quick shifting torque converter transmissions. I wonder why the switch.
I wil say iDrive 8 is quite confusing, as someone whose driven a number of BMW's, I have found that this new generation of iDrive is quite difficult to navigate and has more menus than ever. I would probably get a used X3 over this, the plusher interior and extra space would definitely be worth it for me
@@ggill1313 Carplay is useful for things like music and navigation, but if I need to change the settings in the car or the climate control I have to use the cars system.
This may sound dumb, but could the bmw 330i be a good road tripper? im fresh out of college and am grateful to have a solid paying job and im looking at a first car that is nice and fast and sleek for getting around the city, but also something that is great for road trips since I love to road trip to national parks or different states. If not, whats the difference between the X2, x1, and x3 in terms of what im asking for?
What generation? And if possible I’d go with a touring (wagon). Those are great road trippers plus the added benefits of a wagon vs an SUV. Anyways good luck.
I have a 2021 CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus AWD. I love the car because it has a lot of giddyup for a light car with 250 horses/320 torque (w/ 93 octane; also takes 87 but you'll get 227 hp/310 lb instead); except... the back side has a torsion bar which isn't the best for rough roads. Fine for Florida, but I'm moving back to Ohio and I'll lose a spleen if I keep it. I really like the X1... I'm reading that the Intelligent Personal Assistant feature makes it much easier to adjust settings instead of hunt/peck the screen. However, I'm not liking the reviews I'm seeing re 7 speed DCT. Makes no sense to use that when they have a fantastic 8 speed available.
@JK1028 Thanks a lot mate.. in UK there's no turbo option I got E skyactive X 186bhp ...and I love it to bits..but was always tempted to give a go with bmw X1 ...and it's on my shortlist for a future car..only one thing really putting me off is infamous reliability of German lux brands...another one from shortlist is merc gla but I think bmw is way ahead with quality build and materials over merc..
