Really enjoyed this Zoe! Before watching I was more in Sam's camp but you won me over on a lot of things. Excellent point about the Ice Warriors! I think the Tenth Planet does something similar with the Cybermen- they're lack of emotion makes them not only more efficient but more moral in an odd way- "You have people dying all over your world, you do not seem to care about them" I struggle to find much interior meaning with Season 5 (barring Enemy of the World) so clearly I need to check out your stuff as soon as possible- already subscribed! Your point about S5's running theme being climate change is already so brilliant- can't believe I never made that connection before
I'm just discovered a horrifying fact Bruce the ambulance driver from the TV movie is still aware inside the master mind despite his physical body being dead this information is from the Bruce master so maybe it's just because he's only in his body But what if Bruce and tremas are truly still in there suffering
Zoe's channel is fabby! Tbh, my first watch of The Ice Warriors made me hate it, and the 2nd watch recently made me love it. I love the political analysis of it all in this video. XD
I read the Target novel. In the US, on our PBS channels, in the 1980- (some in 70'-on until 2005 revival -PBS is where fans of Who could watch) Due perhaps to producer JN-T wanting to raise the profile of Who in the US, we could watch a package of Who from the Sixties from like 1986. Instead of Tom Baker, Pertwee, Davison -we got about 17 Hartnell's, and 5 Troughton's that were the complete surviving stories. Yet in The UK, they could only view bootleg tapes. Australia or Canada got Sixties Who too,...not the UK. (Yet, before the internet -didn't know this disparity) In 1990, at University in Ohio, I had one other friend who liked Who, and she had also taped off PBS. She found there was this local Guy, who had a bootleg of The Ice Warriors, which had the four episode returned in 1988. We had to watch the bootleg video at his place, as he didn't want other copies made off his. My friend and I watched the four returned episodes. It was like filmed off a screen, with a 'count-down' clock on the right, but not bad clarity. Besides the 5 surviving Season 6 stories -the first I saw of Season 5, and Victoria. I was so happy as a fan of Troughton's Doctor. The next year the "Years videos" started with three serving episodes -wonderful. "The Ice Warriors" stuck in my mind. The VHS came out in 1999 (?) -glad I could clear the imagery from my mind, and accept other memory in its place! Official video, with a recon!!
Mr Davis I recently listened to Scherzo and it's definitely my favourite Big Finish audio so far. I think you said you watched it once, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it if you review it 😊
