Oh yes! Tomato sandwiches are 🔥 I love them on toast with a tomato 🍅 still warm from the sun. I 😍 pepper too! Thanks bestie we ate butter and sugar sandwiches when i was a kid. My friends had ketchup sandwiches 🥪 not my thing
I must admit Bestie I'm addicted to watching you and your family everyday to destress. I feel right at home
My granny used to put pieces of cold butter on a piece of bread and sprinkle sugar over it. Fold the bread over and have a snack every kid will love.😊
Green beans cooked to death with baby taters perhaps a touch of onion bacon grease. Heaven
Field peas cooked like the green beans fried green tomatoes chow chow and fresh sliced tomatoes one of my fav childhood meals
Redneck pancakes❤️❤️❤️
Tomatoe sandwich is a staple for me from a kid to a 64 year old now. Love the green beans I put in a smoked ham hock yummy eating. Growing up we always had veggie dinner from the garden it is the best. Corn on the cob, green beans the fried squash and tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, green onions, and wilted lettuce and cornbread. Summer meals were the best. My Mom and dad were from the south and thought me the best in life as a Michigander. But my heart and soul is in the south.❤️
Food is the language of love in the South.
funny story, when I was little I liked to match my food with what I was watching.
like Tom and Jerry I ate cheese
the Flintstones I ate fruity pebbles
Popeye I ate spinach
and my moms favorite movie is fried green tomatoes. and she would make them for me when we watched the movie.
yep I'm a weirdo.
U are the most wonderful mother. The interaction u have with your family is pretty amazing. U can tell the boys are great kids! Have a great day.👏👏👏👏❤️
My mom was from Nebraska and she liked PB and syrup on bread. I like it on waffles. 😋
Nothing better than froed green tomatoes to me! And, I love the other veg fried, too.
Brings back memories. When the garden started producing, my mom would often make lunches with fresh, raw veggies. Melon and strawberries. ❤❤❤
Hi Sweet Brooke. Here in Missouri we do peanut butter and honey with a little butter mixed it. Put it on bread and dip it in our chili!!!! Best ever!!!!!
I was born in Ft Smith Ark and my grandparents were farmers in a little town call Kibler outside of there. I had the most amazing memories from spending time with them. Huge tomatoes came from their garden ant we always had slices of baloney from the Deli added to the sandwiches. Sometimes it was fried for supper along side all the homegrown veges for supper
I wish you were my personal chef! Or BFF & you invited me over all the time.
Same
“Just do it til your soul tells you it’s right” exactly how I do my seasonings.. Love it 😂💖
Tomato and mayo or Banana and mayo sammiches were my mama’s favorites… we’re from Florida… the REAL Florida.
I miss her so much.. this video reminded me of her making those sandwiches💛
The Redneck pancakes looked good.. I think my kids would like those!!
Also, that BLT looked delicious!!
Thank you for your wonderful vlogs🕊💛🙏
Oh my gosh that's exactly what our nanny used to say,and may i just SAY i think your bloody greatxxx
Yes! We used to dip our pb/syrup bread in our chili/soup. So delicious.
Love Tomater Sandwiches
Peter pan honey roast is my all time favorite peanut butter. I'll eat it on a piece of break with a glass of milk
I had a Cousin that made us Squash Blooms out of her Garden that way in the Spring. They were Delicious.
I remember snapping with my grandma! Green beans, peas, blackeyed peas, corn...SO MUCH FUN!
“Just do it till your soul tells you it’s right” Love it 🥰 and love your videos!
My grandma always gave me buttermilk cornbread warmed up in a mason jar and then poured buttermilk over it.I miss that.
Pinto bean, onion and cucumber sandwiches are wonderful too!Heck, anything goes with mayonnaise and bread.
I make toast and put peanut butter and maple syrup on it ❤ now I want tomato sandwich 🥪😋
Your corn bread in milk, when I was a child, we would have ordinary sliced white bread, in a mug, pour milk on top, with a little sugar.
We called it bread boily.
North East of England.👍🙏
I love all these southern foods. Except we use white Karo syrup instead of pancake syrup with the peanut butter. We make a sandwich out of it instead of eating it in a bowl. I absolutely love fried squash and zucchini and could eat a ton of it.
My mom started me young on peanut butter and syrup in a bowl. That was one of my favorite snacks as a kid and that combo always went on my pancakes and waffles and I raised my kids that way too. I never put bread in the bowl with it, but I would wad up bread pieces and dip them. I never dreamed this was a Southern thing. My mom's from Oklahoma so, who knows.
My great grandparents used to make this, but with Honey instead of syrup... My moms cousin called it Pooh-Butter sandwiches because Pooh loves honey.
I also spent many a summer on their front porch breaking beans, shucking corn, and shelling peas... great memories!
And if any of y'all don't like tomatoes, like me, (it is a texture issue, makes me gag) Try a BLO sammich... Bacon, lettuce, and red onion (with real Mayo)... delicious!
All of this reminded me of my childhood growing up in northeastern Oklahoma at my Great Grandparents farm... Grandpa always had the cornbread and milk, I preferred saltine crackers and milk... but we used the Jelly Jars instead of mason jars, lol. Thanks for all of the reminiscing!
We didn’t have bread a lot so we would do saltines, mayo & tomatoes! Yum!
I'm Hispanic... but i love eating southern meal's! I enjoy hearing that music beat at the end lol...i like when you had it at your intro of your video's to 😁 🎵 i always tap my foot while watching the video's 👢 😂
Food is always better when it’s fresh from the garden! I love this, brings back memories of granny and papa’s during the summer, snapping beans and fried squash, cornbread and milk, yummy!!!!!
My husband eats peanut butter and syrup but my Southern Momma made peanut butter and honey sandwiches. That's what was in my lunch box most of my childhood. I still eat it. Kool-aid in my thermos...
Girllllllll, you know what’s up. All of my favorites, I’m from TN, too. 😋😋😋❤
Hahaha that peanut butter “cereal” reminded me of the “cereal” my daughter used to eat at night. She put a bunch of croutons in a bowl and added ranch dressing… ate it with a spoon. 😂
Oh my how I love all those vegetables. And you can not beat fried squash and green tomatoes. Add a bowl of pinto beans and cornbread with that and that is a good southern meal.
Oh my goodness, Brooke. I could smell this entire video and it smelled like home. Thank you!
There’s not much better in the summer than a tomato sandwich!! Of course we also had banana sandwiches and crushed pineapple sandwiches. Right beside the pimento cheese sandwiches. Great memories…
Texas girl here! I say dont knock it till you try it. My friend adds avacado to her mater sandwich! Thanks Brooke! 😊
Mater sandwiches is something I will never get enough of. I just toast my bread though and we call it mater toast lol
Up north (Canada!) we enjoy Toasted Bacon and Tomato Sandwiches. SUPER yummy! ❣ Just plain toasted tomato sandwiches will do very nicely, as well! 😋 Thanks, Brooke! 💖
You and your family are now my most favorite channel. And how frugel you are amazes me
When we were little, my momma would take dark Kara syrup, stir a good amount of butter in it, and dip it up with toast. Still one of my favorites! And we did the cornbread and milk too!
I love tomatoe sandwiches ❤thanks for sharing with us ❤️
I love fried green tomatoe sandwich
Every summer once our garden produces tomatoes my husband eats a tomato sandwich every single day. I prefer a fried green tomato sandwich lol.
Oh this video made my heart happy. My grandpa and grandma and mom and her sisters lived here in Tennessee when they were kids they ended up moving to California and he had a house with 5 acres which you don't find in California usually but I grew up snapping beans so many of these recipes I had as a kid in Cali I always new Tennessee is where I was meant to be my mom moved back here 10 years ago she was raised in the Appalachia mountains we are in middle Tennessee but she brought her sister back here and this is where we plan to stay my children have decided they love Tennessee and decided this is there home I love green beans and potatoes I think we will be trying some fried green tomatoes we have lots in our garden we have already been enjoying the fried squash and zucchini. I want to try the poor man's pancakes it looks good. Thank you for all that you do.
I've eaten peanut butter and syrup with toast all my life. Was one of many treats my Dad taught us. Something from out of the depression days I believe.
My mama put mayo on both pieces of white bread and put a pineapple ring on it. Best pineapple sandwich ever!
We enjoy many of those also. I remember butter and pickle sandwiches as a child.
WooHoo!!!! I love Southern Food. Especially fried squash and green maters.
I had a BLT craving yesterday too. That is so funny but yours looked better with the fried green maters! All the recipes reminded me of my childhood. 🙂
My cat 😺 is awake with me and likes your voice
Oh there’s nothing better than cooked all day green beans…. and in the summer we always had sliced tomatoes at every meal. I miss those days! Great video as always!!
Tomatoes on a sandwich with mayonnaise salt and pepper delicious. I like little salt with a lot of pepper. N
That’s what I have been eating. Green beans and taters and peanut butter with honey on bread. Fried green tomatoes. Yummy!
All ya missin' is the fried okra. Whether it was to be fried in flour or corn meal was a point of contention in my grandparent's house that was never settled...😂
My grandma used to make cornmeal mush (like porridge or oatmeal) with sugar and milk. YUM
Love love LOVE IT once again!!! Great job and I always look forward to you having your kids or husband taste your food. They are men of few words lol but it's obvious that they love you and that you take such good care of them. You have a beautiful family. Thank you for your hard work.
Can't sleep 😭 I've been binge watching you 😂. You are awesome 🤠
I remember tomato sandwiches from my childhood! I still eat them, and they are amazing! I tend to fry them first though, after dipping them in egg and flour. They come up hot and crispy every time. Awesome on a hard roll with cheddar cheese, pickles and mayo! Okay, I kinda made my own version! I also love fried eggplant marinara sandwiches on brat buns. Basically dip eggplant slices in egg and cornmeal or flour, fry. Then set oven to broil. Place eggplant slices on large bun or hard roll, top with marinara sauce, and fresh grated mozzarella cheese. Put under broiler until mozzarella is melty and the bun in partly crispy. Put top half of bun on eggplant half. Enjoy! I'm not sure if that Southern but it's deelicious!
🙂🙂💖💖💯💯
We eat peanut butter and syrup over our biscuits as we also toast bread and spread peanut butter on it with syrup. Delicious 🤤
I lucked up and found some big ole beautiful beefsteak maters and I have eaten them eaten a matter sammich everyday for 2 weeks. Now I'm on to cornbread and buttermilk, which is always 4 meals a week for me! My teenager loves a peanut butter sammich with honey and granola!
I love tomato sandwiches with lots of pepper and extra mayo! You got me craving fried zucchini and green beans with potatoes. I was born and raised in NC. In the summer we ate veggie plates for dinner often with fried silver queen corn, sliced tomatoes and cucumber, corn bread and sometimes a slice of fried fat back. Those meals were the best. My uncle loves cornbread with buttermilk but I never liked buttermilk. I'll have to try it with sweet milk instead. Great video!
Being from the extreme north these were all so 'different' to me! I'm gonna try some of them tho. I think that fried green tomato sandwich looked so good.
These are traditional southern summer foods our folks would eat because it gets so hot here. The only AC people had was a box fan if they were lucky. I'm 58 and remember those days well . My grandmother would have her lunch meal cooking as everyone ate breakfast. Supper was left overs from lunch, milk and bread or a sandwich. They avoided cooking late because they didn't want the house heated before bedtime which was usually just after dark.. I'm talking before TV was available.. Oh and their morning usually started about 4am. Wow.. I just opened the time machine door...🤣
@@Ubette-th7kw we called it supper too 😅 no AC either (I'm 59) but not as hot. Soda crackers and milk was our afternoon treat lol
My Mom was from North Carolina, I love all these. Thanks for the memories
My Grandma grew up during the Great depression. She taught me onion sandwich, bean sandwich, creamed potatoes with peas, she also made the best light bread biscuits.
Looks like my childhood meals at my grandma's house. Yum!!!
When I was 13, I thought I invented tomato sandwiches with mayonnaise. Now, some decades later, I find out this is a traditional Southern thing. I never knew.😂
Love your channel, Brooke! Your channel has taught me to take a risk and try mixing vegetables into casseroles. Tomato sandwiches are scrumptious!
A mater sandwich is hard to beat!!!
Girl!! Some of this Alabama girls favorites but the bacon sammie with cheese ranch and green tomatoes! Yummo. Def stealing that one
I have LOVED fresh tomato and mayo sammies! since i was a kid! (but i was born and raised in Maine, so I th8ink its an all over kinda thing, lol)
It's a thing in California too. That's my favorite sandwich.
Me too! Poor kid from Amarillo Texas!
Me 3. Quite popular in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Peanut butter and syrup was my go to as a kid!!!😋
I just spread mine in the bread and ate it -though eating it with a spoon is very smart!
I love how your son is so willing to taste test all of it! ❤
Girl, I eat Pretty much the way you eat.. I always put potatoes in my green beans.. And the corn bread and milk was raised on that so reminds me of my daddy. That is the way we eat in North Carolina. Love this video!
One of the things we do here where I'm from. I don't think it's a Washington staple. It's just something we do. We take and Fry up Green tomatoes and use those as our bun and put a hamburger Patty between it with some bacon, some cheese and some pickles and some mayo. It is so good
Milk and cornbread. Yummmmmm
That garden veggie meal looked so good!
Love your videos. Reminds me of my Nana cooking. She is from Kentucky. I grew up with all these wonderful meals. Make them for friends out here in northern California.

southerners fry everything, I love tomato and cornbread sandwiches, I also like crumbled cornbread scambled with eggs and a onion if ya have one, yummy.
My husband loves the pb and syrup! I’ve thought he was crazy for years, I never heard of anyone else mixing those together on a sandwich….of course all our kids love it too. I remember my mom making pb and honey sandwiches for my lunch…pretty much the same, but I still laugh every time he gets a bowl out to mix his pb and syrup😂
Thanks for the video!
We always just mixed the syrup and peanut butter together and made sandwiches with it. Always tastes great with chicken noodle soup! At least here in southern WV it does!!!!😁
I’m So Glad your having more videos. Makes me want to cry when you don’t have a new video I haven’t watched. You make my day!
A fresh cucumber sandwich is good too. I like my bread toasted for my tomato sandwich. I guess my mom spoiled me..😉 Oh and a fresh pod of 🌶️ pepper.. yum!❤️
💜 🍽️
Make some drop dumplings with the left over beans and potatoes...delicious
I always love a summer veggie meal. My mom & I always ate milk & cornbread. Everything looked wonderful!
