Not sure if you read the comments. My husband did not receive his social security check last month. Still hasn’t received it six weeks later! I fired up RUclips to see what you fixed. We haven’t had any meat but we are eating well thanks to your videos! I made at least 20 of your recipes. Today we had pancakes and a can of fruit cocktail. Tonight we are having hamburger stew made with the ground turkey that you used. I’m adding more potatoes to stretch it to five meals. You are a lifesaver! I even made the flour tortillas this week!
Proud of Kylen being brave and trying new foods. Brooke love how you are honest about what's in the food with him too. The trust and honesty means a lot to me
Thanks to you I have created over 300 recipes of my own using Dollar Tree ingredients, items that can be purchased at other stores too. If I ever create a channel (doubtful I'm shy) an ebook, shorts or tictoks I will definitely give Brooke credit for inspiring me and links to her channel. It's fun to create and test recipes. Nice project to keep me from being a bored old lady.
Love all y’all. I’m a Canadian girl and I think alotta ppl could take a page or maybe a chapter outta your book because those boys you both raised are just something else !!! You don’t see this kind of respect and love for there family like this often!!!!! Hey boys !!! You rock !!!!!!
Love love love thst you have let your gray hair grow out. It is beautiful!!! No shame in gray or white. I never colored mine. It is white. Proud God has let me live to get these white hairs. God has been SO VERY GOOD TO ME! YOUR HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL!
OK, try this with the burgers. Pull out about 1/3 of the lentils and set aside. Puree the vegetables first. Add the eggs and about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of oatmeal (or breadcrumbs). Add the 2/3 of the lentils and pulse to combine. You don't want it smooth at all. Then stir in the reserved 1/3 lentils. The trick with lentil burgers is to have a mixture of textures. Like everyone said, they taste good but they were mushy. If you do this, you get a more burger-y feel.
I just wanted to say thank you! I've been following you for a long time. I have custody of two of my granddaughters and my 12 y.o. always looks forward to watching you and your family. We are on a very low income and I have always been a more frugal cook. Seeing you and your family trying the meals has encountered my granddaughter to at least try a food rather than just refusing it, lol. I appreciate you!
I have an idea if you wanted to you could either go to a food pantry or find a video of somebody that went to a food pantry for a family of five and then go buy that stuff and see how many meals you can make out of it and how long it can last realistically as well. A lot of people get stuff from the food pantry and they don't know how to cook it or they don't know what it is and stuff like that.
Your eyes look beautiful today. When making the lentils, don't ground up to mush. Let it still be a little chunky. Then put into bowl and make like you would a regular hamburger by adding bread crumbs or oats to help to become a patty. I also make vegetarian chili with them. When you put beef bouillon, they become beef flavored when you add chicken bouillon they taste like chicken. Love you cousin Brooke ❤️ 🎉
😅 Please forgive this light-hearted comment which is totally unrelated to any of the recipe discussions - I know this is silly, but it made me laugh and thought you might enjoy getting a chuckle out of how I accidentally read your name. At first, I read it as "There's Salt On Gregg" before realizing there was only 1 "s" "Theresa Alton Gregg" 😅🧡 God bless you, I hope this only gives you a smile and isn't irritating. 😊
@@hijadelreydreyes8188 👋🏾😅 glad I'm not the only one. Any chance your name is Hija del Rey de Reyes, that being the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus? ❤️
❤ I made this for my family and everyone loved it!! Including my meat loving fiancee and daughter. ❤ The cost effectiveness and benefits are amazing. Thank you so much!
My family still likes meat, too. I've been successfully reducing the amount of meat used in a recipe and using a substitute in a ratio (usually 50/50). For the tacos for example, I may have stretched it even further with a 1/2 lb of hamburger.
My sister is vegan so I make vegan taco "meat" with lentils, brown rice, diced (tiny) potato and home made taco seasoning. It is great on a taco shell, salad or over fritos.
I look forward to your weekly video. You have the best family. They're so willing to be guinea pigs to help you with these recipes. It's a family affair.
He’s so cute, I love how he acts like he passes out when it’s good and how he says “I don’t know let’s find out” 😂 such a doll baby. Thank you for sharing these I have lentils and I’ve never had them before so I am going to try both of these
Ok. I'm seriously impressed. I have no idea what chuckwagon is, made me think of the old commercial with that little chuckwagon that dogs chased.... anyway, I'm impressed. You're family is so great at being your tasters, and getting their seal of approval is great, because I've noticed that they're pretty darn honest with their rating scale. I'm soooo doing those quesadillas!
I love that you sneak veggies in! I used to do this all the time when my daughter was younger. Thankfully, she grew out of the picky stage and now eats a wide variety of foods! Your facial expression was priceless! I definitely want to try that lentil quesadilla recipe. I have a bag of lentils that I have not used, and I've never cooked lentils before. Gettin' my courage up to go for it! Thanks, Brooke! 💜💜💜💜💜💜
A tip to keep them al dente is to drain them and spread them out on a sheet pan while you get the rest of your ingredients ready. That way they release the steam instead of continuing to cook.
Another great way to use the brown lentils is in chili. I use 1/2 real meat and add the lentils and no one could tell! I started doing it when beef went sky high a few years ago. I bought a can of lentils from Walmart for 92 cents (it’s higher now) to try it out, huge hit! Thanks Brooke for everything you do for us! ❤️ Edited to add I haven’t thought of chuckwagon’s in forever! I didn’t know they still make them… nostalgia ☺️
Ground poultry, turkey or chicken, work great in well seasoned meals like chili, Mexican dishes, or spaghetti sauces. Even lentils hide nicely, and you don't have to pay outrageous money for beef. You won't miss the beef. Add some beef bouillon to mask the poultry flavor even more, like Brooke did in her recipes.
Brayden needs to be sure his future spouse knows how to & enjoys cooking. He loves food. He will be the sweetest husband for someone learning how to cook. He'll keep her confidence going.
Or he can cook too. I suspect he will continue to keep his fingers in the kitchen. I have an ex that simply could not cook despite having had full custody of his son for several years. I had surgery and he didn't even try to make toast lol.
Happy to see youve discovered tomato pasts in the tube. It really cuts down on waste! I love anchovy paste in the tube, as well, to use in salad dressings

This was just amazing an every one I know just add them to hamburger and ground beef and whatever else you can. Use. Just to stretch out the quantity for larger family families, but just making them sales and us. I’ve never seen cooked on their own to create certain flavor or food items, it’s a good idea.! Thanks for sharing!

I often add half ground meat which does cost a bit more but the taste is closer to a meat burger and it’s still budget friendly.Thank you for trying these recipes out they are such a help.
We eat a TON of legumes in my house. I am 💯 convinced eating them daily makes everyone in my house (husband and two school aged kids) feel and behave better. I cook with lentils a lot and typically add some oat flour or bread crumbs to firm them up so they're not mushy.
I like to do the 50/50 method, or if it's something I would normally have with lots of vegetables or beans anyway, maybe even a 25% method. I still add meat, just a much smaller portion just for a bit of flavor, texture and maybe a little more protein...
