Best Persian white rice with potato tahdig

Serving size 6
Ingredients:
3 cups of basmati rice soaked in salt & water
8 cups of boiling water
1/2 cup olive oil
3 potatoes sliced

Thank you for your simple explanation. I used to enjoy tahdig when my mum was studying overseas as my best friend was Iranian. Fast forward 20 years later I decide to try cook some of my own as I missed this dish. Your explanation is simple and easy to follow. Will try cook this for breaking fast soon :)

You forgot to add this hint 'almost all the basmati rice in the states or Canada is new (DOESNT NEED TO SOAK) just add the rice to boiling water.

Thank you! My best friend is Persian and always tells me to make tahdig. I make lots of rice as I am married to a Ecuadorian but not tahdig. I will try making this today.

Parisa F Haghighi it came out great! Only a little stuck to the pan but that’s because I need a different type of pot . It was delicious!

Is It still crispy with no towel? I don't have a pan lid so I'm using foil until a new one comes.
