Naphtha (Petroleum), Hydrotreated Light. This is a mixture of various hydrocarbons having 6 or fewer carbons. Things like hexane, pentane, butane, probably some cyclic, probably some with double bonds. Flammable for sure. Some components could be carcinogenic so don't get it on your skin or breathe it in. But what I wonder, is the residue still on a glass jar?
That looked great and I'm always trying to take labels off of boxes, for a reason that is also not important but I'm in Canada. Do you know it it is available anywhere here.
This product is 100% Light Hydrotreated Naphtha which can be bought in 4.5 oz spray cans for half the Amazon price. Since the Amazon offering has such a bad shipment record you should consider this instead.
I wonder: usually you can't soak something from the other side. Let's say you are removing a glued-on sticker from a cardboard box, and you have to soak the sticker itself - wouldn't that separate the sticker from its layer of glue, and leave the glue on the box?
You know he's just fishing for thumbs ups there's no problems with the buttons LOL smart I'm surprised so many of you are not able to see through that.
This is not the case. In fact, duck tape does poorly over time with use in HVAC. It is not used, they have a tape specifically made for that. Go in your attic and look.
This is all legit, I bought it and tried it. I needed something for my DVDs to get the stickers off, and EVERYTHING WAS SAFE. The stickers on the DVD sleeve paper were over 20 years old so it took a while but it was still really easy and it's like the sticker was never or the liquid was ever on it. Literally good as new...F*****ING PAPER GOOD-AS-NEW
Simple brake cleaner will do the job too - whoever has it. Removes stubborn stickers, thermal pastes from CPU, GPU, bridge, etc. It "softens" silicone bands for example, so use it with caution. It's not aggresive to human skin.
Brake cleaners are usually cfcs or acetone and mek and similar ketones. They work well, but can destroy some surfaces that are unaffected by napthas. I used to work in a label factory qa lab. One of the things we did was dissolve the adhesive and scrape it off the label to measure the thickness of the face stock. What worked depended upon the type of adhesive. Isopropyl alcohol worked on some. Heptane worked on most of them. The label remover being 100% "hydro treated naptha" makes perfect since. Naptha both describes that liquid that is called naptha, and an entire class of similar chemical compounds. Which includes things like pentane and heptane, as well as describing mixtures of various weight hydrocarbons like diesel fuel, kerosene or gasoline.
Just drop the chemical onto the edge of the sticker, it will wick into the glue and if needed you can peel it back and apply again. Typically labels are paper so it can soak right through the label, but if the sticker is vinyl or other impermeable material my methods works fine.
Double down 😂 ... Have you tried lighter fuel (the type for topping up Zippo lighters etc)? We used to use it on drawing boards (when you were programming NT4) and it removes everything pencil, pen, smudge, grease, masking tape and 3M spray mount related. I've also recently discovered it works on Everbuild Stixall (cartridge based kinda construction adhesive). It looks like and acts like the stuff you are using, however I've never tried sticking that brand of duck tape to that brand of toilet paper so don't feel qualified to comment any further at this juncture.
I did an iFixIt MacBook pro battery replacement recently, removing the battery using the supplied adhesive remover was a PITA. Wonder how this would have worked instead and if it would be safe.
Well it's nice when you can put it on the back of a sticky surface, but that's not the case when a sticker is on a surface that can't be turned over. Can it be removed slowly from an edge, yea, but not as quick as this demo.
Dave, you are the man!!! - tell me this - with auction items that often are a beautiful new box to give as a gift - they apply those stupid well-glued stickers. I have tried heat but often end up damaging the box. Trying to understand what you just showed me - where do I apply the liquid - on the sticker? And how long best to wait and how best to get off with zero I hope damage to a nice box. They could use smaller stickers but these bad boys are six inches by 5 inches - and are tough - until I just saw you do your magic - can you advise me? Think prime box, blue cardboard perhaps - nice with a stupidly large sticker glued hard. Can I get my email to you or do I watch on here? New to this - - - - Best video I have seen in a long time - - - - well done!
Like your title, the close captioning has it wrong too--it's not "duct" it is in fact "duck." The nickname originates from WW II and referred to water off a duck's back
I have been using Un-Du for many years. It is incredibly superior to anything else out there. With heat and Un-Du I can remove any sticker. I hate the smell and mess Goo Gone leaves and it also leaves a greasy mark on porous paper. Un-Du does not. It is a way undefined hero I. The ongoing sticker war.
Please help me - understand - lets say you have a pristine product box but there is a large hard glued sticker on the box and you want to give it as a gift. How would I use it and not damage the blue or other color cardboard under the sticker?
I wonder if the $0.35 discount from Amazon when I purchased was because you didn’t don’t take affiliation payment. I always wondered what click charge gets passed along on affiliate links. Seemed odd because I’ve never seen that before and you’re about the only guy I know that is straight up enough to not get monetized.
@@DavesGarage Oh it's this channel. Hah, sorry I didn't understand that, thanks for the link though :P. I saw the .net cap and had my fingers crossed for some C#.

I'm betting there's still gonna be a lot of sticker glue left in the grooves!!
Gee. I should look for a solvent that has tape with question marks over it? What is the point of this video if you are not going to tell us what the brand is and what we should look for?
You know he's just fishing for thumbs ups there's no problems with the buttons LOL smart I'm surprised so many of you are not able to see through that.
Chemical safety data sheet says it is 100% naphtha. Cheaper to buy it at the hardware store.
What is naphtha in the uk 🤔
@@WaschyNumber1 Ronsonal lighter fluid. OR ZIPPO lighter fluid. Not sure if that's in the UK. This is in the USA.

Lift a corner and use a syringe or needle-nose squirt bottle to drizzle it underneath the adhesive. As you gently lift, drizzle more.
Love Un-Du! Though, confused at why you covered the name?
marketing, if you knew that was un du you might go search for it, or like I did found it at Hobby Lobby
This video made my day! Have a great one!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks from Chicago
I don't see where the link is in the description is...
That piece of toilet paper was worth more than a lens at one stage :)
Will this damage paint?
If you don’t want to have it soak through, like for example removing a sticker from a book cover, how would you use it?
...and here I thought Dave was gonna show us how to remove the Micro-Soft license stickers! :P
I was just about to coment this same thing.
Will this take the "warranty void if removed" stickers off of electronic gadgets that they don't want me poking around in?
Just to be sure the Thumbs-Up worked, I switched to my other account and clicked it there too
Got your back, Dave!
You know he's just fishing for thumbs ups there's no problems with the buttons LOL smart I'm surprised so many of you are not able to see through that.
I believe the term duct tape came from it being used to tape HVAC ducting together and seal the joints.
I assume that as well!
This is not the case. In fact, duck tape does poorly over time with use in HVAC. It is not used, they have a tape specifically made for that. Go in your attic and look.
I could Google it I suppose but think I'd heard it was first used to seal ammo cans.
Another origin has the original duct/duck tape made from strips of duck canvas with adhesive applied to one side.
Dave, the thumbs worked for me. But of course that's just one test. Probably need more samples. 🙂
Expensive, but I'm gonna get me some! I'm not in Cali, so I am going with the original formula.

You can also try a heat gun, which works very well in many situations.
as I recently discovered, works well on wet room floors too
The ultimate test is if it can remove a Microsoft "employee purchased" sticker from an Original XBOX game case.
Thank you!!!
Does this work on plastics on like an atv?
Thanks for an honest video

This is great IF you can get behind the sticker.... I need something that can soak THROUGH the top side of the label.
Just drop the chemical onto the edge of the sticker, it will wick into the glue and if needed you can peel it back and apply again. Typically labels are paper so it can soak right through the label, but if the sticker is vinyl or other impermeable material my methods works fine.
Interesting. The only thing I can find in the MSDS is naptha.
Do you think this product would work on pleather without damaging?
