Watched a lot of videos and tried so many products to remove window tint glue after removal. Turned out 99% rubbing alcohol was not only the cheapest (£7.99/L), but worked the best by far. Still a lot of elbow grease, but it was far more effective, combined with a spray bottle for the alcohol, scour pad and then microfibre cloths.
I had tape on my hardwood floor for 3 months and I tried using almost everything he has on his table. and WD40 is the only thing that worked. smells a little but it dissipates. I just spray a small amount wait a few seconds and scraped with the back of a plastic knife. no residue left and no damage to my floor.
Glad you did this review. I was going to get goof off to remove some tough scruffs, but I definitely changed my mind after this. I have pets and also have asthma, so anything with strong fumes is out of the question.
If you redo the test, I'd like to see the addition of a control (nothing), and heat-gun removal methods, as well as varying types of adhesives/labels (paper, plastic, vinyl, double-sided foam tape, etc.) Also, a variety of poor conditions such as high heat & uv exposure, hot/cold/hot/cold, buried in dirt, etc. The environmental conditions can greatly impact adhesive properties, which might better identify a real all-around winner. Even better if you can give us a side by side, or an equally timed soak or other treatment comparison. I'd push for a cost/benefit ratio analysis, but that might be asking a little too much 😅
WD40 worked like a charm to remove stubborn residue from a shipping label slapped on hard plastic surface. I let it soak for 5-6 minutes, and just wiped the whole gooey mess down with a rag.
Gloves when working with petroleum distillates is always a good idea. Of note is what lighter fluid or other chemicals you tested can do to a painted surface. Thanks for the video.
Just got back from a dealership service center where they quoted $450 for a new RAM emblem, to replace the old one. I had the "R" fall off from the RAM on the passenger's side of the truck and it is not ruined or cracked. It's still serviceable, so, I'll go out and get some goo gone and double-sided adhesive to remount it, saving myself about $435! Thanks.
I would try anoter dealer. I asked at my local dealer and they wanted half that much. Often when you receive a really huge estimate it is because the shop doesn't want to offer the service you have requested.
I loved this video!! Amazing I just tried Goo Gone! I had black Gorgilla Tape residue left over all over certain spots of my walls. And it just melted off! I was shocked
I used black gorilla duct tape to quick fix a leak in my vans moon roof and needles to say, when it started leaking again it was time to bite the bullet and do it the right way. Tons of sticky residue after removing the tape in the sun! Used Goo-Gone with a rag and then a flathead screwdriver (might try a butterknife tmro) wrapped in the rag to scrape at the tough spots after wiping the majority off with the rag only. Worked pretty damn good actually. Wiped any residue with paper towel and dish soapy water. Might try the zippo fluid tmro on any residual adhesive... the job continues!
I just ordered a product that is supposed to be better than goo gone and goof offf, 3M General purpose adhesive cleaner. Could be something for you to look at as well.
This was very informative. I’m not sure how we the audience were supposed to see the efficacy of the different products on the plastic container when you had left the original label for the container inside. I found it hard to see how well they worked when all I could see was the image of candy that was printed on the paper packaging inside the container. I don’t mean to be rude but if you do any more tests like this in a video, please take the label out of the container first 🙂
Zippo = naptha or white gas or Coleman stove fuel, great general mild solvent; mineral spirits or paint thinner is even cheaper and evaporates more slowly. Zippo is likely cheaper, so who cares if it's not re-labeled as an adhesive remover? Should be #1, but then paint thinner and naptha are 1/10 the price (naptha mysteriously is in scarce supply in Colorado, 10/2022).
Upcycled Life did a test on food jars. She let soak in hot soapy (Dawn) water with a 1/4 Cup white vinegar. Some she used SOS pads on the jars. Other stubborn adhesives she used a heat gun over the labels.
Great video! I have been having great luck with WD-40 with just about everything. Yes, plastic is a little annoying, but the Goo products seem to just be expensive in my book.
Hope you can help! Here's a situation: the film protection on Marvin fiberglass sliding door frame was left on and did not removed after installation. It has been 3 years and film and glue got completely dry out on the frame and very hard to remove without damage the frame. Have tried Goo Gone etc. any advice? Thank you very much!
I used goof off to remove industrial strength adhesive sealant from my motorcycle headlight lens. What a catastrophe. It clouded the inside of the lens so bad that it'll have to be replaced. Nothing I've tried works. Any help out there someone can give me?
Appreciate your attempt at comedy. You get a 5 on a scale of 10 for it. As to the "labels" you are removing. You should use real products with the manufacturers labels. So any "watchers". The reason should be obvious.
Your test was nothing compared to the decals that were on my camper shell for 15-20 years.I got most of the stickers off with a hair dryer, then tried to get the glue off with Goo Gone, WD-40, vinegar, carnauba wax, vegetable oil, and finally paint thinner. Nothing worked. Find a sticker that has been on a car for a few years in the sun and then do your tests.
Lol, people like Pepsi too. Maybe use an original saying instead of the master's "very impressive". Your voice sounds almost like an old timey mid Atlantic accent, maybe play to that. Although review bruh does that one.
Yeah, except that Project Farm doesn't have this test. And his way of testing is great, everybody should be testing things like he does. I'm happy to see more channels following his lead with different tests that he doesn't cover than whatever people come up with that is useless, boring, not objective, and usually doesn't test things properly. This guy is doing a great job!
Find another job brother 😜 like this has nothing to do with like automotive adhesive for Christ sakes dude the stickers you're removing will come off with water
Thanks for spending the time testing!

Thanks, most of the test posted on RUclips about removing labels have had success with alcohol.

Thank you so much.. I was looking for one such video to remove rubber based glue on my pvc flooring.
2 years late but here. Have my like and comment!
@@SlendersLittleBlender lmao than you!
We always used lighter fluid to remove sticker residue. It’s awesome!

Most effective adhesive remover I've used on almost every surface is Pam cooking spray. It's also good for use to condition leather and metal.

This will help me get the adhesive off of my car windshield. I'm going to use the goo gone #thanks 💯💪🏿
Did it work?

baking soda, dawn dish soap, warm water. Soak and they come right off. simple. no chemicals. hardly any work.
The problem with the duct tape is that it's a name brand one. Get an off brand and it'll leave behind plenty of adhesive.
Yes, different tapes use different formulations.
Big help. Thanks for doing the work for us

If Zippo works just as well as Goo Gone then it should win as it has multi uses.
If goo gone is flammable then it's even 😂

Nice. Was the decals you remove paper based decals or plastic/vinyl based decals?
This was great. Have you tried it over labels/'plastic-like paper' (posters)?
I think duct tape takes many months or even a year or two to leave thick hardened gunk.
I have stickers for non slip in my tub- tried so hard what do U suggest> ty great video

This was not a good test. You should have used food jars that have label residue that is super hard to remove. That would have been the real test.
Upcycled Life did a test on food jars. She let soak in hot soapy (Dawn) water with a 1/4 Cup white vinegar. Some she used SOS pads on the jars. Other stubborn adhesives she used a heat gun over the labels.
thank you. I need some glue remover for my crafting and was surprised to see that WD 40 is the best.

Question. Does the goo gone leave any residue after that needs to be cleaned before you reapply any new adhesive?
Definitely
Thank u. Just what I was looking for.
Hi there interesting video. Thanks. Would this work on glue backed stickers on record labels ? Thanks
Hi sir, I think the next video, you should up the difficulty buy taking off something you want to preserve - like a stamp collector
You shouild have used masking tape, it always leaves residue.
Appreciate the work you put into making this video
Good tips, Thanks
Excellent explanation. Thank you

Window cleaner could be tried as well as gasoline (always the final choice). :D
What about rubbing alcohol residue on vinyl laminate floors
Thanks for the test and tips 😊
Thanks, this helped me!
Very well presented, thank you.
Petrol always worked for me.
With duct tape it needs to be on for some length of time such as a week or more maybe two.
I used goof off to remove industrial strength adhesive sealant from my motorcycle headlight lens. What a catastrophe. It clouded the inside of the lens so bad that it'll have to be replaced. Nothing I've tried works. Any help out there someone can give me?
How about leaving the duct tape on the plastic in the hot sun for a month. That ought to leave some sticky residue.
Great video, thank you!!
Great vid!
Jeeze man, set up the lighting so you don't get shadows.
Goo Gone the best choice
Is it possible to remove rubber cement which was maliciously applied to the key slots of my truck?
Use zippo fluid! 🤝
duck tape doesn't bond with plastic of that type because of the way the container was made and smoothed out next time try it on glass
Super helpful. I used Goof Off to remove bumper stickers from a plastic car bumper. Not pristine - left dome residue, but very good .
It's too bad the video didn't show what product he used to get rid of the residue that caused the cloudiness.
How about film on the hood of your car
Dude sound like Marvin the Martian from looney tones 😂😂😂
Thank you
The experience I had at home with goo gone, was amazing, excellent result very easily to work with

Very interesting
I coat in peanut butter for 24 hours and then it slides right off...

You need to try duct tape on laminate flooring
GOO GONE has never EVER worked for me , I shall wait a hour
Don't cover your walls with zippo lighter fluid.
ok
Even on lowest volume it sounds like he’s screaming.
WD40 works well enough for me. Its great
Try rubbing achoal
Get to the point and just say the products and show the work
This is documented science brother if you wanted a direct answer you could have googled it
Disgusting boomer or gen alpha TikTok brain rot brain, call it.
You adhesive isn't strong in the first place. This test is invalid.
That's not much of an adhesive, though.
100% lighter fluid is the best
Why are you yelling?
So you can hear me
Goo gone aint very good
And I thought project farm was a nerd…..
At least Todd is interesting.
You could at least not be an obvious rip off.
Get your own personality 🙄
That’s just awful to say, bring light to humanity and don’t tear people down, where is your channel helping people?
You have been sniffing to much Goof Off
"Project Farm" "wannabe". Go with the real deal!
hey I'm trying to get as good as he is someday
