This is definitely motivating me to keep doing mock-ups, even if they can be frustrating! Especially with ruffles. I'll get my ruffles that nice one day and mock ups can help practice it ... !!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and mock-up with us, it is really great to see this process alongside all other knowledge you are always sharing!

I made a bodice block for myself so that I would not have to deal with endless fitting mockups, I need to do so many alterations on standard patterns 😮‍💨. The making if that bodice block was mockup hell, but so worth it in the end.

I have one as well but because this was a weird one with the insert - I thought it was easy to make it from a pattern that was already close.
      I was wrong haha

Ah stabby Victorian dressed cosplay that explains why it felt American Mcgee’s Alice-ish on the mockup when I saw it

Niffty is a character I closet cosplay since I already have a white blouse with puffy sleeves and a red wig. The only things I made for it was the skirt which I made calf length on me and I added white socks and white shoes since Niffty doesn't technically wear shoes and it fits with the 1950s feel.

Not liking mockups are probably the main reason most of my costumes are ballgown I think, nice easy shapes with the same pattern I know fits me

Listen, I also hate mock-ups but that doesn't make me do them any faster lol (although all of my cosplays tend to be wildly different from each other so I'm always using a new pattern, not one where I already know where it fits etc. which certainly isn't helping me)

hate mock ups and for the most part can get away without doing them but for a tailcoat later this year... I'm going to have to do one... REEEEEE

I need mockup because I am a baby cosplayer. However I hate taking it apart.

Coming from someone who also makes their own cosplays DO RHOSE MOCKUPS I promise you they will help you in the long run. Mockups can be so helpful when making a cosplay. It can be annoying taking them apart but when you get it right it's so amazing.

Mock ups are annoying but they make your cosplays better in the long run! Plus, when you take it apart, you have your perfect pattern piece
