Found one in the garden. Turned out to be a Rod of Summon Termites (single-use) (Only a couple, they must have been scouting. I checked the stick a couple days later and they were gone, so I officially collected it)
A lot more than you'd think once you start going into the LARP communities or Ren Faires, since they're dressing as the same character for several days in a row or even a week, and often camping/roughing it so have to be practical! I plan to get a lot of wear out of it and most of these clothing pieces I'll be wearing in my regular wardrobe too
@@Lady_Hiccups I do a lot of bush walking so get a bit spoiled for possible staff sticks. Never end up taking any because I can't decide which one is better.
An idea for the moths: if you take an old book (old as in: non-readable, not as in extra valuable antique... I really don't like to destroy books...) you can glue a bunch of pages together. You can cut out a moth-shape. Wind up a few moths, and place them on top of each other in the page-pocket! Now when you open it, the rubber band tension will push them all out, flapping away! And the beauty about using a book is that not only does it fit in as "book of shadows", but you can make several of these 'page-pockets' filled with wound up moths, so you can repeat the effect a few times before you have to wind them up again! Just open another "page" in the book and they come flying out again! I was thinking of a little "Pandora's box" first, but that wouldn't be repeatable a few times ;) As always, I really REALLY like your ideas, and how you make them. And I LOVE that you are teaching everyone how to do it! That speaker in the giant moth: you can just cut off speaker wires. Just make sure there are no ends sticking out that could short on any other components. Cutting them right at the board works just fine. That way you would still have a small speaker for other projects ;) Too late for this one, since it's really gone now :p but just as a tip for future projects ;) (I know, a bit whiny... I don't even have enough money for more than 1 meal a day, so I tend to get a bit triggered sometimes when it comes to throwing away perfectly re-usable components. As if I could even re-use them if you saved it XD ) They only fairly recently found out why exactly moths (and other insects) seem to be so attracted to lamps. Not going to explain it here though, I don't want to dampen the spirit ;) The moth witch deserves happiness, love and joy ;)
I love that you had your vibrant hair hidden under the covers, sort of making it true that the character herself to secretly have a vibrant, colorful part of herself, as "hidden beyond the somber visage of death and decay, life does not end, it renews." or something like that.❤
You know what would be a great nod to the moth-lamp meme while also boosting the staff, adding a paper lamp so it kind of looks like a cocoon and with those flickering LED candles.
I feel so inspired watching you cheerfully improvise your sewing projects. If you can get results this beautiful from the "fuck around and find out" school of crafting, maybe I can too!
You are weird, in the best way possible, red headed, owl obsessed lady that loves magic, sometimes turns into a giant owl monster and most likely you sleep in a nest. Please, please, please make a cosplay of the Owl Lady from the Owl house. It will be so cool 🔥🔥🔥
@6:27 A friendly fyi: A sanding block is a good way to fray edges of fabric that looks like it happened organically ...just stretch the cut edge of the fabric across a table and sand a section at a time.
Honestly comfy costumes are so underrated. When I only made costumes for photoshoots it didn't really bother me that it was hard to see or breath because I would only wear them for a few hours anyway. But once I went to my first LARP and my costume was WAY too uncomfy (I couldn't eat or drink 😭) this became so much more important to me :D Love the look so much! I always feel so inspired after watching your videos
If you want more moths to stick on, there's a lot of moth or butterfly things in most floral decor sections. I know that Dollar Tree in the US has them as well in their craft isle most of the time on the side with more craft decor side of things. You might also want to consider working in an over the shoulder bag or satchel that can work, being an all weather design, that looks like something that would work really well for a RenFaire fairy
Oh yeah I actually have one of those! I cut the footage of it cos there was so much to fit into this video already, but yeah it's a great idea! I also plan to hang bags off my staff if I need to carry extra stuff.
The flappy butterfly/moths that you want to release are meant to go in cards. Then fly up when opened. Getting a costume appropriate book, or prop book. Would release them at the same time and fit with theme! I realize you probably won’t see this, but just want to say this costume is so incredibly cool. That you for bringing the Moth Witch to life.
I love watching a Beautiful Crafty Cos-Player making wonderful, imaginative Costumes. You Make me wish i was 30 years younger because that looks like so much fun.
Unless you have a physical barrier, you should do it anyway! Age shouldn't be a barrier to creativity or anything else! Tired of hearing that getting past a certain age means you can't wear or do things anymore. Who made such stupid arbitrary rules and restrictions? Nothing makes me happier than seeing people older than me doing things that they're "too old" for. So, if you want to make costumes, make them, then wear them whenever possible! Be happy. Do what you want as long as it causes no harm. We only have one life, and it's short. ❤
One more thing. Is your user name your actual name? Cause that's a very cool name. Victor French. Sounds like a victorian character from a book about a genius inventor.
That fabric we pronounce as ‘ boo-clay ‘ its a gorgeous fabric & it’s mainly used in couture outerwear like coats or suit jackets. Love your creations absolutely amazing you are such an inspiring artist. Love the Phantomasy mask with the moth antenna 🌷
Woooooaaaa❤.this is soooo great. I think the thing with covered eyes is: you can't read the face anymore. The hole mimic area is covered up. So you can't tell, if a smile is honest, or if you're giving a side eye etc. It's a mystery, you become creepy and a potential threat because you are not readable anymore.
About airbrush and clogging: * Potential pressure matters. Having a little extra pressure available can keep the flow good as just starting to spray starts to lose pressure - So you need a compressor that can provide *more* than you need. If the compressor can sustain 3-4 bar, that's about perfect. * Dilution matters. If the color tends to coagulate and clog, use an airbrush thinner and go 2 or 3 layers. Colors need to be super low viscosity in most nozzles.
The moth witch is just beautiful. I love all the layering and the different looks for different seasons. Your little moth friend is my favorite, just adorable. Great work.
I’m not even at the reveal and I can already tell this character’s kit is gorgeous. And I love that mask maker. I’ve wanted one of their masks forever.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never watched any of your videos before, but as soon as I saw the thumbnail I immediately clicked. It’s honestly insane how much love and work you pour into your projects. I do cosplay as a hobby too, but you are so insanely talened and on another level compared to anything I’ve ever done.
I don’t see a lot of RUclipsrs cosplayers make animal puppets (essentially insects) with their outfits. So seeing you create a fuzzy Giant moth friend, really caught my attention. Fuzzy moths are hands down my favorite type of insect.
It wasn’t until the outdoor section that I figured out why I enjoyed this so much, it feels like some character you would meet in something like The Witcher where you know there’s some interesting backstory and the character sticks in your mind for years to come.
I think the darker colors for the winter wardrobe work really well. If you think about winter it’s usually snowy and therefore very light. So the moth witch in a winter setting would really pop with the dark colors.
Ooh I like that! I was thinking I might get myself a glowing lantern to hang from the staff, especially if I take it to outdoor larp events and whatnot!
Man this is the first video I see from you, but DAMN I enjoyed it. You keep adding and cutting stuff and doing nonsense just makes my brain tickle, idk how to explain. It’s like: You: so I have a handful of these old things, and I added them here Me: MMMMM YEASSSSSS
Welp, I managed to be asleep long before you posted this, so now I get to watch it while prepping breakfast. And I absolutely love moths, so this is right up my street ❤
10:50 So, the reason why the speaker no longer works when you take off the plastic bit is because it doesn't have anything to vibrate. As for "don't know about electricity" all you have to do is make sure you don't allow anything conductive to touch you while messing with the wires. You could have just ripped the speaker out and just covered the metal bits with electrical tape to prevent them from touching and it woulda been fine. Small electronics are easy, but phones and stuff get complicated.
I had a little idea while rewatching Almost everything you're using has frayed edges, so I really love the idea of the Moth Witch always having loose threads floating around and behind her, along with the fraying always looking just a little bit different every time she shows up, without her clothing ever actually breaking. Every so often one of the moths picks up some of the threads to weave around the staff :)
It's been ages since I've done airbrushing, but I remember cleaning the nozzle & needles often. Maybe it is because I used cheap paints but I remember having to run the paint through a fine screen so as to remove any small coagulated bits before loading it into the paint cups. Keep having fun!
Dear Charlotte, I absolutely love your videos. Your energy and enthusiasm absolutely transfer. While im a reenactor and not a cosplayer, i see how much we have in common when it comes to oir art and how we express it. Thank you kindly for yours videos and energy.
The mask def ties it all in and just love that kinda look was so happy to see you include it cause loved it for your vampireballgown. So freaking cool that you have multiple outfits for her as it spands the years weather changes but also kinda fitting thematically for how moths are c: . We all love a good stick just like we love lamps 💡👀 . Oh oh what if you added a lil aged up looking lamp to the staff doesnt have to be big,but that could look cool like guiding her own way but keeping the moths close by with ^-^. Thankyou for the lovely video(s)! So glad to see your crafting flame spark back brighter with these last few projects
What a fantastical project. The process of creating this was most likely exhilarating! Finding bits and bobbles in nature is such an enriching experience. Last year about this time, I had created a druidic Autumn mask mostly out of leaves and bark and pinecone petals it was a blast!!! Super kudos!!! Love the work.
Of all your fantastic videos, I think I love this one the most because it shows so many details of your process. Love the way you worked the beads, feathers, and textures into the details. No one item was interesting on its own, but the way you combined them suddenly made them amazing. Thank you for sharing!
I watched the moth witch birth. At first right up to the headcovering I was feeling Gypsy. When the mask went on it all changed. I felt the change, the transformation from gypsy moth to moth witch. The hat topped it off. The Moth Witch Soul Shepard lives in my mind. I have adventures and quests telling their tales in my minds eye. It's a well thought character. Well done.
❤ love this costume! ❤ It is absolutely gorgeous, and versatility adds so much. I like all the details, decorative pieces, trimmings and embellishments that you’ve added - they really make the whole costume come to life. Just the fact you’d be able to rock it both in summer and in winter makes it hundred times better!
This headcovering is a game changer for a costume I have been refining for years: the Raven Lady. I have been struggling so long with what to do with my short, ginger hair that doesnt go with this all-black arch-fey goddess character. The one I made is so fast to put on, and I LOVE not needing to worry about doibg my hair for any event I want to wear my costume!!
3:38 to 4:14 As someone who was dead once for over a minute: gentle reassurance was a good vibe to go with. It's actually extremely peaceful to *be* dead, even if dying itself is usually not peaceful in the slightest. All the pain and anxieties melt away. Everything is calm and clear and content, like when you've just woken up in the morning but don't have to get out of bed yet. The moth witch would be someone who pops up to be like, "Hey. It's alright. Everything's okay." and then ruffle your hair or something. Not sure if I've just helped or worsened your fear of death, but I can see the moth witch's role in my head. Just a friendly witch, here to help.
Honestly reading something like this helps more than you know, the anxiety I feel around death is pervasive, even when I find ways of dealing with that. Thank you again for sharing your story!
The ideas behind her that you described at the beginning were very touching and relatable! I definitely feel that existentialism at times, and the idea of a soft comfort in those final moments is such a somber and bittersweet concept, I love it.
I don't know how I haven't come across your channel before! This is one of those times where a video shows up on my feed and I'm like 'oh. my. Yes algorithm, I love everything about this.' The witchy vibe, the dark academia vibe, the costume making. Yes yes and yes.
This turned out absolutely amazing! Just seeing how "quickly" a style can come together with a bit of careful planning just makes me that much more excited to get started on my own first clothing project xD
i love this so much!! the wooden beads are probably my favourite part, i dont know why but they really add to the aesthetic, though that mask is amazing too!!! (and the Big Moth, which i would be remiss to not mention)
Currently I am making a magic the gathering cosplay and I was always intimidated to start the project then watching another cosplayer I found Milanote and it allowed me to organize my thoughts plan everything out and let the anxiety and nerves rest a bit so I was able to stop procrastinating and start this project because of Milanote. Can’t wait to finish my project.
I honestly quite like Milanote myself as well! One of my projects isn't so much DIY (though I've used it for that as well) but currently more of a Roleplaying / D&D inspired thing. I have a task list of things I need to do. Like setting up a discord server (Not advertising here. This is for me and some friends.) And setting up a world using a different place. Called WorldAnvil. Both work quite well together in my opinion. Getting aesthetics colleected, making plans for possible ways for people to start off as, if they so please. Stuff like that. It's honestly quite nice to have something like Milanote to be able to pull all of that off without much of a hassle. But now, back to the video for me. You mentioned wanting to hear what we'd used Milanote for. So I paused. Lol. I'm excited to see how you made it all work!
The level of creativity that you show is truely inspiring like not enough to get my old arse motivated but Damm if your videos don’t make my weeks when they come out
I desperately need you to know that your work and how you do it and everything is so so inspiring to me (a fellow “mess around and find out” creative person) and I really want to do something like this (diff idea, but similar in a “just having fun, seeing what cool details I can add” way) for my local ren faire next summer
This is awesome! I love how you've planned for different seasons - and for comfort. I'm currently working on a wizard costume that has to meet those same requirements.
I want to say that I absolutely LOVE your original character design videos (maybe even more than the "cosplay an established character" videos, although they are also awesome)!

And so very wonderful finally getting a proper look at your cute moth friend.
Another gorgeous outfit by you! Love all the details and all your moth children!
I didn't know how that was all going to look either, but I was impressed how it all came together. Looks amazing. Brava!
❤ love this costume! ❤
It is absolutely gorgeous, and versatility adds so much. I like all the details, decorative pieces, trimmings and embellishments that you’ve added - they really make the whole costume come to life.
Just the fact you’d be able to rock it both in summer and in winter makes it hundred times better!
Wow, that turned out awesome . Love both the summer and winter versions.
You never cease to amaze me. I share your love for a free approach to creating.
It turned out really amazing. Every piece had its place.
Your skills are amazing!! All that with no using patterns. That's just natural talent that is.
YESSS YIPPEE!!! MOTHS ARE MY FAVORITE BUG OMG :D
Haha same here! Moths are cool as heck!
@@MissTwistedddMOTHS ARE THE ONLY INSECT I LIKE I HAD ONE AND SHE LAIED EGGS AND IM WAITING FOR THEM TO HATCH but she died :(
This turned out absolutely amazing!
I love your videos so much. This is my motivation.
Amazing work and all the details just add extra mystical mothical vibes.
Ok, there are no words to express how amazingly talented you are! Gorgeous costume, great concept, and I ADORE your moth companion!❤
the moth companion is LOVELY!
A beautiful, atmospheric outfit. It certainly seems to come alive when you put it on. I love it.
The moth familiar has me dying of cuteness. I need to make one so bad. I love him so much.
Omg I love this outfit! Being able to see you so be passionate about making these always brightens my day.
Almost like a lamp... Hehe
Thank you so much for this absolute fountain of inspiration. Incredible design from start to finish.
Sumptuous vision and gorgeous realisation. Love your work!
This is THE COOLEST costume I've ever seen!!!
Milanote-organizing your vibes! I love it and will check it out for my projects! 💗 What a beautiful concept! I love her!
I love how you gave advice on different temperatures.
The level of creativity that you show is truely inspiring like not enough to get my old arse motivated but Damm if your videos don’t make my weeks when they come out
Oh, I am reminded of Moth Priests from Elder Scrolls! Very nice!
I have a Dark Modiste bodice, too! They are so well crafted and comfy, and yours looks perfect for this!
Moth Buddy is Awesome! Your whole ensemble is amazing!
A really wonderful costume, with lots of cool options. Well done ma'am.
This character is absolutely gorgeous !!!
This is absolutely epic!! All of your "tiny" details make so much difference!❤❤❤
Just breathtaking your so gifted
I want to say that I absolutely LOVE your original character design videos (maybe even more than the "cosplay an established character" videos, although they are also awesome)!
Omg it looks so amazing ❤❤ I absolutely love how much you can switch up the style.
Epic build! Moths are seriously underappreciated.
