Yep I tell people when they're stressed out and about to lose it to just sit and have a good cry - just get it all ou, crying drains stress chemicals better than any other purge.
As a sewist with more years of sewing experience than you've been alive I will say that silk chiffon brought me to tears last year. Silk chiffon is the essence of tears and frustration. And a sewing machine pro-tip: The first troubleshooting step when the thread is acting up is to completely unthread both top thread and bobbin and then rethread. That solves the issue at least half the time. The second troubleshooting step is replacing the needle. The tip can chip without you noticing and any roughness in the needle will cause issues.
It is not silly to cry over seams. It is a frequent occurrence among the sewing community, especially when chiffon is involved. Also, I love your work. This cosplay is so epic.
Idea for dip dyeing large pieces of fabric: get thee to Daiso and pick up a spiral hanger from their laundry section - you should be able to get one large enough to accommodate the length of a sheet, and it has a handy-dandy handle as well 😊
@@MissTwisteddd honestly, it only occurred to me when I saw your improvised solution (and I wouldn't even have come up with what you did off my own bat)!

As an International award winning cosplayer, I am here to tell you that crying is absolutely normal for a costume of that complexity. I love that skirt! You did amazing work! I love it so much!

Wish could get to PAX Aus but forgot about it and medical's kicking the butt.. and the 4 1/2 hours each direction is a killer. But I hope you find it fun this year M.T.
With the airbrush, it's what works for you, one thing you can do with the airbrush is those highlights... grab a mask and then over lay it and just.. spray. Do not be afraid to use a card or anything like that to mask as you spray.. you can get amazing changes in tones and the like.. with something as simple as a piece of card to act as a mask.
I am so impressed with your dip-dying! You found a great solution. I have dip dyed stuff before, but I made the skirt first, then dyed it after the fact. I agree that chiffon can be such a pain to sew. I put it up there with poly stretch velvet which I consider the devil's fabric. I have a very tiny rolled hem foot for my sewing machine and that works better. I think the problem you are having with the hems is that the fabric is cut slightly on the bias which will stretch out and be wobbly. A good way to cut the fabric straight is to take a small snip out of the selvage and pull a thread all the way across the fabric -it is tedious, but will make sure the fabric is perfectly on grain. Then you can cut on the line the missing thread makes and have a perfectly straight hem.

This is so stunning! The movement in it, and the gradients, the swooshy swags... Your work is always incredible, but you have outdone yourself this time, Miss Charlotte.
When I do things for the first time, a lot more hot glue is included. I once created a full face werewolf mask from silicone sealant, rabbit fur and clothespins for the teeth 🤣 This is really, really nice work!
First rule of sewing: if anything goes wrong with the thread, completely rethread the machine top and bottom before you make any adjustments. 99.9 % of the time that solves the problem.
Hello from Canada! You tackle projects like I used to before I listened to all the voices telling me I couldn't. 😂 I aspire to get back to your perspective soon! You're definitely inspiring me. ❤
The work that goes into cosplays like this is so underestimated because the final results just look amazing, and we're simply in awe. Great work with the process explanation here
Assembling something with "just vibes" is completely Fearne-appropriate 🌿 I'm sorry this was so frustrating for you! I'm not a sewist, I just watch them on RUclips 😅 so I don't have any chiffon advice; but you do great work. I'm excited for this!
I'm glad that I found this channel, because your work always looks super stunning and perfect. You're super talented and I just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos, even if I'm a *bit* (13 hours) late sometimes
Seeing you struggle with this incredible cosplay, has been strangely therapeutic for me. I've recently been enveloped in my own project and have just about scalped myself from pure frustration. It's honestly so nice seeing someone as talented as you, showing off that things aren't always a walk in the park, and that it's important to take breaks and treat yourself when it gets rough
You are so creative and talented! I also admire your problem solving skills. I wish I had half of your patience and ability to follow through despite setbacks. Thank you for sharing not only your characters, but the creative processes behind them!
I found that if you don't have starch for stiffening chiffon, you can use clear gelatin as well. Once you're done sewing it, you can wash the gelatin out. Hand washed is probably safest for silk chiffon.
Wow, that turned out amazing! You have excellent problem-solving skills and I am in awe of how you can forge ahead instead of falling into decision paralysis (like I do) when faced with limited/costly materials and uncertainty over whether the plan will succeed. I can't wait to see the whole ensemble!
It's looking beautiful, ❤. I don't cosplay myself, but my daughter used to, but I love watching all the beautiful costumes people make. You're all so inventive, and I can't wait to see the finished piece. ❤
I hope the Con goes well! Day 3 go for simple comfort, you'll still kill it because you're simply overflowing with pure awesomeness. We love you and truly appreciate what you do, and to top it all off you make the community better by sharing your technics with everyone for free! People like yourself are true gems and make the world just a little better by being yourself.

woooow what a journey! Thank you so so much for sharing all of your struggles with us, I am living this dream (and nightmare) cosplay through you! AMAZING I am so fucking impressed with how you did this
It was soooooo nice to meet you at PAX on day 3 and seeing your moth witch cosplay, it was absolutely beautiful to see and I'm very thankful you liked my drawing of you with your characters as well! You're one of the most greatest cosplayers in my eyes and one of the most sweetest people I've ever met, I feel so blessed and heartwarmed inside, thanks so very much ☺️
P.S; Thanks for giving a shoutout to my framed work in your fantasy room tour video, it means a lot!
P.P.S; You give very sweet and warm hugs 💗
I love that you make the most of the inherent characteristics of the fabrics to create what you need. This is an amazing project and you're doing a fabulous job, especially as you consider yourself a beginner sewist.
I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the cosplay! Also people have posted like the hairstyle fearne has and what they thing the back looks like but I thing you'll make it much cooler (the stuff posted is kinda basic). I bet you'll do great and you definitely deserve a break!
This is so stunning! The movement in it, and the gradients, the swooshy swags... Your work is always incredible, but you have outdone yourself this time, Miss Charlotte.
That is absolutely gorgeous!! Amazing work!!
When I do things for the first time, a lot more hot glue is included. I once created a full face werewolf mask from silicone sealant, rabbit fur and clothespins for the teeth 🤣
This is really, really nice work!
Oh I've cried over sewing projects. Usually cosplays I sew for my kids. They don't do Halloween costumes, they do flat out cosplays.
Great work with the process explanation here
You doing the tiny jumps in the intro was adorable! You are so talented and give good tips and instructions in easy to understant way.
I am about to start on a bowsers cosplay involving chiffon and this video was immensely helpful in formulating a plan. Thank you.
This looks amazing! Simply incredible!!!
I love your videos, as a selfeducated sewing chaot it's always nice to see new techniques and new stuff I didn't know about 🍀.
Assembling something with "just vibes" is completely Fearne-appropriate 🌿
I'm sorry this was so frustrating for you!
The movement of the skirt is absolutely dream-like! All the pats on your back, your work is beautiful.❤🎉
OOOOOOOHHH THAT REVEAL THOUGH!!! Absolutely gorgeous and worth the suffering
your patience is so inspiring. Project looks fantastic!
You are so cool I love your cosplays I learn so much from you and I recommend you to my other friends whenever they wanna make something. Keep it up 🔥
Also what happened to half of your videos? Did you private them? Or maybe my RUclips is glitched idk
@@creativenewt5639 I think your youtube likely glitched out! They're all still there!
Absolutely stunning work, the finished skirt is mesmerizing.
THIS IS SO PRETTY ALREADDYYYY waaah I can't wait to see when it's finished and everything gets put together
Um Actually... You knocked it out of the park as per usual! Great Job!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚
You are so creative and talented! I also admire your problem solving skills. I wish I had half of your patience and ability to follow through despite setbacks. Thank you for sharing not only your characters, but the creative processes behind them!
your confidence is staggering. its really motivating me!
Always fun watching the trial and error approach to this project! Can’t wait to see the complete results!
Ahh! That is looking AMAZING! I'm so excited to see the full outfit! Its going to be STUNNING! :D
the skirt is GORGEOUS! i can't wait to see the finished cosplay cause WOW! 😍😍
I found that if you don't have starch for stiffening chiffon, you can use clear gelatin as well. Once you're done sewing it, you can wash the gelatin out. Hand washed is probably safest for silk chiffon.
I'm loving this series and look forward to the next video for your cosplay. The skirt came out AMAZING!
It looks so wonderful! Great job!
The gradients and hems looks so great!
Charlotte I need you for a mask I want. I trust only you!!! Oh and I loved this video...thanks again for all the info and ideas. You are awesome.
Your absolutely awesome love your work
I hope the Con goes well!
Thank you so much! I wore the Mothwitch on day 3 but it's a mostly comfy cosplay anyway so it was good. I am slowly resting up after a hectic weekend!
1. You are really beautiful. 2. That skirt is just stunning. It looks beautiful and so floaty. Amazing job
WOW! This is absolutely stunning!!
Oh damn if only I were in Melbourne that weekend
Holy moly. That spiral is phenomenal!!! You got this!!!
I’m not a huge fan of the color pink but your gradient dyes are stunning! I haven’t even BEGUN to attempt them, so you’re far better at it than I. Much love to you and the fact that you get as close to these characters as you do makes me want to do the same!
I'm always stunned by how clever and talented you are, incredible work!
its entirely valid to cry over a cosplay
Wow, you should be so proud of the spiral piece - stunning!!
All your efforts are totally worth it!!! You are doing a great job, keep at it! ❤❤❤
I have been waiting for you to continue this cosplay. The legs video was the first I watched on your channel. The skirts are beautiful
Because you are such a fan of owls could you plsss watch the owl house, it’s such a great show, and has a lot of cosplay material
