Fix Crashing Microsoft Edge
Follow this guide step by step to resolve the crashing problems with Microsoft Edge,
• Firstly launch Registry Editor using the start search bar.
• Next, navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge” or “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge”
• Now search for “MetricsReportingEnabled” and delete related entries.
• Lastly, close Registry Editor
You have to now reboot your PC. If everything goes well then Microsoft Edge will start again.
The problem came into existence due to a deprecated MetricsReportingEnabled policy in the Windows registry. This policy allows users to enable or disable the reporting of usage or crash-related data.

I'll try this way next time Edge gets corrupted. The video from 5 years ago did not restore Edge. The only thing that made Edge work like new was to uninstall Edge and run the setup file of a Win 10 ISO image, to reinstall Win 10 with the option to keep all applications and personal data. That created a fresh installation fully functioning Edge and fixed any other Win 10 issues.
Hi there. I've tried basically all the steps here, and I'm stuck with the "powershell" part. Everytime I try to open it (run as admin) it kept saying that either the file has been moved/removed/renamed. I would really appreciate all the help I can get. It's just so frustrating. Thanks in advance!

I know how to backup & restore favourites, cookies etc in IE, but how would you do it in Edge? What about securing saved passwords & form data? Doesn't appear to use the web credentials any more) Or will this all regenerate from Edge on another pc synchronisation ?

Question: Chrome limits users to about 320 MB when things get SLOW. Does Edge do better at allowing more memory?
Brian, I am setting up Pc after reinstalling Windows 10 on an older Lenovo PC. It is 1909 version. The old Edge browser worked fine. The new Edge browser is not functional in any way. I followed your steps to try and rectify the problem. This is my first attempt using PowerShell and carefully followed instructions.
When I got to the point of entering the 'Reinstall command' in PowerShell nothing happened when I hit enter key. I reread command I entered. Then I noticed above what I had typed was the statement, "Cannot load PSReadline module. Console is running without PSReadline." I am confused and need more instruction. Can you explain what I need to do to remedy this situation. Thank you. I did look through your videos first to see if this issue was addressed.

I'm currently tagging my customer's web portals to Microsoft Edges. I'm liking the unlimited StartUp Webpages... Once click shows all my customer's web portals (and usernames and passwords). I'm able to access all of them at a very quick time.

On one of my computer I am using Edge and I would rate it a 6, even if ok most of the times it too often takes an eternity to open.
I spent so much time getting rid of it I don't think I'll ever want it back 😂😂

I got it to work, but not because of this video. I know the fix for the more recent issue of it not opening at all due to the recent update.
Microsoft release bug fixes all the time. Unfortunately people will search RUclips for fixes for a particular problem and stumble on a video that will not fix the issue. They have only a Windows update. Patch will fix the problem and this seems the case here. Thanks for watching
@@Britec09 Microsoft also releases bugs all the time with no fix like they did with this update. And when you rely on this specific program to make money (like I do) it's a nightmare. So you definitely don't want to wait for company who was careless enough to cause this issue for billions of people in the first place then make it so that you can't disable auto updates or even roll back the browser. So with that being said in order to fix this issue you have to delete a the "MetricsReportingEnabled" registry key. This will 100% fix the issue without waiting for a patch that hasn't arrived for 3 days since this issue occurred. 1000% worth the risk.
@@boredfive3001 it's because they laid off all of their software testers. So all of the windows updates are released through Windows inside a program testing only. Of course some bugs will slip through the net and affect millions of people that use windows on a daily basis. But what can you do?

MS Edge won't open? Open Regedit, search for MetricsReportingEnabled, delete it, problem solved.

@@Britec09 So when I did a system restore I got it to work briefly. However whenever I close it out it doesn't pop back up and goes back to not working.

@@Ulig98 I actually posted the fix. Not sure how my comment got deleted but open reg edit, then go to edit tab and click find. Then search for the 'MetricsReportingEnabled' key. Delete it and problem solved. (I should be getting paid for this 😂)
Going by the title I thought you were going to fix Win10 problems using Edge
No one is interested in resetting, repairing or reinstalling Microsoft Edge. If you want to make a useful video teach us how to uninstall it for good. LOL XD
If you use Brave Browser, you'll never again use any other browser, even Chrome!
