Pero, el autor/autora de este video dice que según alguna investigación previa sobre la reproducción de la ficus elástica una hoja puede producir raíces y vivir por años incluso pero no dará nuevos brotes qué produzcan hojas, permanecerá así hasta morir. Se debe incluir por lo menos la yema de donde se sostiene la hoja para que pueda producir un nuevo árbol.

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  2 года назад

      I did a follow-up video about propagating using just the leaves and it won’t grow as a new plant. It may root well but will not become a new plant. When you propagate make sure there’s a stem. About propagating in soil, when you cover it with plastic make sure to have some air ventilation at least to prevent molds. Also, make sure that the soil is not too wet, just enough to moisten the soil. Overall, propagation in water is still the most effective for me, just make sure to keep your propagation in a place where it can receive enough indirect light and change the water once a week.

    When I replant any plants to a bigger pot I take angle grinder and cut the pot in half then carefuly remove both pot parts and put the plant into the new bigger pot. So as little as possible roots are damaged. Plants love it and then they dont need that much recovery time after replanting. I have 4 Ficus Elastica plants in 30 liter pots. They are 1,2 - 1,5 meters tall growing outside on porch Manila city.

      Just let your plant settle in for a few days, then repot it in a fresh soil mix. It is better to always repot your newly purchased plants into a freshly mix soil with full of nutrients. I recommend 50% potting soil + perlite or coco peat or sand + some compost.

      @@kjetvl tap water, you dont need to add anything. Just put a branch in water and wait few weeks till you get nice roots and then you can transfer it to soil. I use any standard compost I can find in garden centre or in supermarket.

      Ti consiglio, per esperienza, di fare le talee non prima di fine maggio. In primavera non mi hanno mai attecchito. Oltre giugno non so. Quest'anno ho provato a maggio e dopo neanche un mesetto hanno finalmente messo radici (talee in acqua, le mie). 🙂

    Will rubber plant produce flowers

    • @thegreenearth
      @thegreenearth  2 года назад

      Yes, rubber plant is capable of producing flowers and, subsequently, small fruits. ... Actual rubber plant blooms are small, greenish and insignificant; they also are unlikely to occur on a rubber plant growing indoors in a container or even one growing outdoors in warm temperate to semi-tropical conditions.
