Man I miss being I mover! I was a lead foreman for a year then I just got my CDL driving for Swift. After my contract is done I’m going to be looking into working for one of these companies.
I did this for 13 years... Ended up having to have a spinal fusion as a result... Can't do it anymore, but would be lying if i said I didn't miss it... The camaraderie, the hard work, driving all over the U.S.... Good Times!!
My father use to drive for North American Moving & Storage for 46 years ago before he passed away his name is Anthony Frank Roberts he was a long haul legend
Hats off to these guys, i did this for 4 months, hardest work i've done. These guys work and theres an art to it. These guys you can tell are the best of the best.
I’ve been in household goods for 10 years. Good to see someone besides me actually wraps shoes . Great work ethic, house prep, tiers, etc. keep killing it fellas.
Mr Martin is the only moving service to use in the central FL area hands down best quality help. Matt has preformed many miracles for me. Awesome crew 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I had a corporate mover from Rosebud. Dave, if you out there, I know you still hustling and taking care of your daughter. Always appreciate how you handled business for my family.
Very involved job for sure Alex!!! It’s one thing to drive truck but to load it and unload it without scratching, breaking or denting something is another thing!!! You have people’s personal stuff that is valuable and in some case sentimental!!! RESPECTS to you and your crew👍👍👍
Back in the day BedBuggers had all kinds of stuff in their trailers. Almost like a store. Asked a Global driver once if he had a whetstone and a soldering iron. Wasn't 5 minutes when came out of the trailer with the stuff.
As a mover for 18th year in the field, i can say if you show great quality service you will always be on high demand. These guys know how its done. This field is not for drug users and you must be fit!
I always liked putting my base items at the rear of the truck so I could visualize each layer of the load. Then just fill in the holes. Making me miss my household mover days. Plus you can get a big sleeper tractor cause you never max out the weight.
If you run out of bans, tape is your best friend. I use to use the hell out of a dolly. I would only pick couches up. I tried to work smart and not hard.
I did moving for quite some time, and I the only thing I miss about it was my co-workers. this guy is pretty much on point, the one thing I did different to help reduce claims and save time was to wright the inventory number on the box, and if it was a pad wrapped piece of furniture I would wright the number on a piece of tape. It saved time trying to find boxes and furniture when your delivering, everyone knows those inventory stickers can fall off and get lost during transit. one thing I hated was searching a trailer and a house for a box that didn't get checked off at the end of the move.
Not little money, moving CDL drivers are amongst highest payed in industry. That's why Mai gets months off per year, making the same as , if not more $$ then a dry Van driver driving OTR all year.
Hey Alex! Awesome to see this! Excellent packing and wrapping skillz. Great moving tips. Ck it out man: we talked a few months ago after your interview with the Trucking Couple. That plan to expedite got delayed pretty hard, but I ain't givin up yet! lol. So it looks like I'm doing things solo for now. This video is cool and great timing, because I just got hired on at Bailey's Moving and Storage here in Colorado Springs. They're helping me get back into my full class A CDL. I'm a bit older in my late 50's so learning to properly handle the physical aspects of moving furniture is gonna be a little bit more difficult, but I'm totally ready to jump on it. I do have some experience earlier in my career moving truckloads of GE appliances to commercial customers. I had to load and unload a 53' van floor to ceiling, nose to tail with nothing more than a hand truck twice a day in L.A. So I'm hip to the tetris loading method. I hear ya on the warnings about this not being like regular trucking. It's physically intense. Recently I've been staying on my feet and handling fast picking, sorting, stowing and loading for Amazon and doing all night grocery store stocking jobs to keep myself strong. That and I'm a rock drummer which takes a lot of stamina. I feel I can make it happen and so does Bailey's. So, heeeeeerrre we go!
I move food at 61 years I leave all that heavy labor to you young guys. A leaf blower is as hard as it gets to blow out all the leftovers from being loaded.
Same i used to be a rookie as a dollar general driver then i did carhauling then i did food service eventually im doing fuel tankers which im doing dont have to break my back and make a good living makes no sense to go back
Super simple house 13-14,000 lbs with 4 guys pack load and unload shouldn’t be anymore then a 10 hr day also didn’t hear anyone talking about the INV that also must be done in case of claims
Right, so movers are the kind of people who always pick the course of greatest resistance. You'd rather walk uphill than downhill. You'd pick a minimum wage job over any job paying a hundred grand. Because you want everything to be as difficult as possible. Also, you want to be sure you've got back problems no later than the age of 40. So here's a question: Why not become a stone mason? A couple years experience and you won't get through the day without painkillers.
Im also a driver for a moving company, short haul, and yea with all the respect, I can’t not be on the phone like u lol jk love 2 see ur videos brother
Alex does the company have lumpers in all areas of the states? What if your out of area? I used to deliver food in the Los Angeles area and San Diego for years and have hand truck skills. No rush is the key.
I know a lot of guys who do actual step deck and rgn as owner ops and I can promise not a single one of them has grossed $500k in a yr before...lol flatbed is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the open deck side of the Industry
I got a question I went to a school in Tn that was just for the money very unofficial when they talked about each other talked about other schools but besides I was wondering seeing if anybody out there will give me some heads up on which way to go to get my CDL so I went through school in at the end and didn’t get my CDL‘s because I didn’t do the manual transmission I can’t do it because I have tried more than three times testing and I know I cannot do the manual transmission they did not provide me with automatic transmission I told him from the get-go I couldn’t do a transmission manual transmission because I’m never done in manual transmission in my whole entire life and I still could not do it to test on so where do I go from here
I got my permit before February 7 so I don’t have to do so many hours and schooling and stuff locked out and all the restrictions I got it before I got my permit December 16 of 2021
No disrespect to any truck drivers out there. Moving Furniture and loading and unloading the trailer isn't for everyone. Thanks for watching!
