It must be so connecting to your ancestors to cook the food, I always feel like food is a big bridge if I’m with someone and they cook something for me I feel connected. To be dressed as those people cooking like this and eating just must help bring those pictures and stories and make them more human xx

Whoah! What an undertaking. What was the menu? So curious. Eating dinner right now (inside) on the eve of Juneteenth 2020. So much respect for the "foodways" of way back when. Good to the last crumb. Did you have to pack in all cooking equipment to the site and all the food. Found this great booklet about cooking in the coastal area, where I live. Would love to share. And omg, did you get to use any antique real stuff? Happy Juneteenth!
