    Brasil is also an operator of Hercules.
    We used to have 29 of those planes but the last one is retiring this year after 60 years of successful operations.

      I mean, if I'm not mistaking Embraer pretty much dominates the regional flights market worldwide. Or at least it gets close to doing so
      Having them bring out a military plane as good as the C390 that can go face to face with the C130 isn't really surprising. Not to me at least 😅

      having to maintain what are essentially two commercial jet engines versus four turboprop engine has no comparison. Embraer is cheaper.
      And we are not considering the price of the aircraft, which is also cheaper....
      Overall, Embraer's better and less expensive aircraft!

      @@And84552 Jet engines are way more complex and bigger than prop engines, C-390 costs around 55 million dollars (almost the same as a C-27J) while C-130H costs around 30 million dollars, C-130H is more versatile for short take offs from unprepared runway.
      C-390 is more of an smaller alternative to C-17

Your initially state that Embraer's more expensive to operate, which obviously it is not the case. 2) You have to compare C-390 with C-130J Super Hercules, those are equivalent, and not with C-130H. C-390 is cheaper and better than C-130J Super Hercules.

    Sou brasileiro e tenho grande admiração pelas aeronaves americanas. Mas vamos ser justos....a Lockheed ficou congelada no tempo só curtindo os louros da glória. Agora a conta chegou. Estamos falando de uma fabricante de aeronaves e, assim como a Lockheed, o fundamento da empresa é sim nacional porém por variadas questões, diversos países participam do projeto e execução. Aviação é uma indústria que não existe sem a coparticipação de parceiros, e não por isso deve-se diminuir seus feitos. A Embraer é sim absolutamente brasileira, independentemente de suas ações de mercado, e apesar de todas as controvérsias, é um grande orgulho termos àquela que se desafiou a construir uma aeronave capaz de ultrapassar o lendário C-130 tanto em questões técnicas como financeiras.

    Sadly, the google result when looking for "embraer pronunciation" is misleading and English speakers maybe are learning it wrongly. It's not "En-bree-her", not "Em-brae-r". It's three syllables, "em-bra-er".
    a) "Em" (like "am" in "i am something").
    b) "Bra", just like the undergarment! NONE of the vowels for cat, hat, bird, brie, beer, bear, eer, none of that.
    e) "er", with the vowel "⟨ɛ⟩" of "bed". the sound of the final "r" is as usual.
    The problem is trying to pronounce "ae" like one single long vowel. It is not, it's two short different vowels. Put a tiny little bit pause between "a" and "e". It will be a perfect pronunciation if you do that!!!

Of course there were corruption issues but instead of persecuting the responsible ones they just made a plan with some Brazilians to destroy both companies. And the guy who helped them tried to be president afterwards but luckily he wasn't elected and now Lost all of his political support when everything was revealed.

      Just remember the merger between Boeing and Embraer was justified by the fact that embraer would "break" if it didnt do it. And now we see embraer on its brightest time ever on comercial and military aviation, just 2 years after they told us it would "break" if it didnt merge.

    India would be well advised to go for the Embraer C 390 for their requirement of medium transport aircraft rather than the C 130J. Lockheed Martin are coming up with foolish offers of converting the Hercules into a gunship which are practically useless in today's scenario.

      Hurry up cause i wanted Brazil to buy more Gripen but sweden taking too long to buy Embraer i believe it holds the Brazilian government from buying more. There is many talks from this side about F16s, M-346s and etc. You wouldnt want to lose your only partner in the Gripen from some old ass F16. I dont believe the C390 order from sweden is the reason of all of this but It for sure doesnt help.

    I hope Indian airforce selects C-390 for their medium transport aircraft program. Unofficially there are three aircrafts competing: C-130J, C-390 and A-400. 12 C-130J are operated by IAF and LM has tie up with TATA and is opening a MRO facility for Hercules in India. Airbus is going to manufacture C-295 aircraft in India with Tata for IAF and A-400 if selected can be manufactured here along with C-295. But I think C-390 is a good option because it can carry more load than Hercules(26tons>20tons) and is less expensive than A-400. Indian airforce requirement for MTA is around 60-80 aircrafts.

    I am brazilian. The factory is less than 20 minutes flying from my home. I followed some flying tests by flight radar app. Sometimes more than 8 hours of flight.

    2:57 That is not the payload but the MTOW. Payload is a tad over 20 tons, so slightly more than the hercules.

    Entendo pouco mas ouvi dizer que existem 2 tipos de aeronaves para esse tipo de missão.
    A produzida pelos americanos possui motores turbo-hélice o que permite aterrisar em pistas de pouca infraestrutura, terra ou até nos polos da terra.
    Já essa aeronave da embraer possui motores a jato e voam em maiores altitudes, atingem maiores distâncias, aguentam maior peso de transporte e se saem bem em pistas de terra também.
    Acredito que assim como os aviões tucano o KC-390 é um produto fantástico da aviação brasileira que pode auxiliar missões por todo o mundo e espero que possam ser usadas para o bem da humanidade.

    O C390 foi projetado para supererar o C130, uma aeronave moderna e versatil. A Embraer por ser visionária se atecipou e desenvolveu o C390 para ficar maduro justamente quando os velhos e bons Hercules estariam se aposentando.

      This is such a weird cope. The C-130 is now a 60 years old design, that has been sold and used multiple nations for decades. What makes you think the US has any grievances about it being replaced?

    The C-390 is a brilliant design with great potential. Only time will tell if it has the inherent durability to withstand long term usage. Embaer will also have to deal with the issue of production capacity. It needs a strategic partner(s) to take on manufacture outside Brazil. One thing you can be sure of is that the mighty Herc will still be in service a century after it entered production.

    O C 130j provavelmente seja a última tentativa de estender o projeto ao máximo, já o C 390 tem um projeto novo com muitas atualizações ainda e vida útil maior, racionalmente a melhor escolha, os próprios fuzileiros americanos já declararam quem se adequa melhor as suas operações.

    Heard somewhere that C-390’s code is designated as such because the supplier claimed that it has 3x the capacity of C-130 (130 x 3 = 390)

    C-130s will likely be operating for decades to come. I wonder just how effective the YC-17 would have been.
