    I picked up the Revstar standard with the dual humbuckers. One of the best decisions I’ve made.

      They’re great. I had the rs820cr for a bit and it was such a solid guitar. P90s suit my playing a bit more but both options are killer.

      Just got the P90 one in the mail today for a steal of a price off the retail. Did the slightest adjustment and it is an amazing guitar. Beautiful finish, so easy to play, and sounds clear as a bell!

    Good used guitars are a way to go as well. I used to live in AR and went into a local music shop back in 2008/9 with no intention to purchase. I picked up a Fender Jaguar Classic Player HH. I liked it, but didn't really get all the switches and roller knobs, radius, and scale. I strummed it a few times, put it down without much thought, until another customer walked in. He picked it up to plink on it acoustically as I did, and I was immediately triggered!!! My internal monologue was like, " put down my f*****g guitar dude"! I hovered until he put it down and snatched it up before it had barely settled in the stand. I had no Idea what I was doing. I love it! I recorded some notes with it today. I love the in-between single and humbucker sounds the rollers blend knobs can get the pickups into. It's had some locking tuners and a Mastery bridge slapped on it over the years, did a recrown, which was desperately needed for years, (why did I wait so long???)
    I have another used which is a Korean made Aria Pro II, solid body carved top I picked up from Starr's Guitars in 2002??? when David was still in Little Rock, now in Cedaredge CO. I've replaced the pickups a couple times and have always gone back to the stock ones...crazy. Was my main guitar for years. Not much that was way more expensive came close to it for me.
    I think I paid $325 for each of those. Use them all the time!

    Surfliner Deluxe, yes, again, yes. Cant believe it's actually this cheap in the US... already good value in EU... Very fun, quality very decent! (thanks again to you good Sir for the initial review)

    I love my Surfliner. I did spend some time filing the lock collar on the trem as it fouled against the B string. I also feel like the locking tuners unwind themselves annoyingly, which I will replace at some point, but overall it's a really wonderful thing to play. Love the neck finish, the pickups sound great, and it even has a 23rd fret for some strange reason. Only other minor thing is I feel like the nut is farther away than most other guitars i own. I got lucky with the neck, which is pretty nicely flamed, and the rosewood is nice and dark.Very cool looking offset. Goes well with my JMs and Jags lol. Thanks for bringing these to light. I've also played my brothers Revstar, and it's really nice. Great video, really nice sounds too. Classy playing :D

      @AmbientEndeavors  16 дней назад +1

      Totally. All valid and useful comments here! It’s not a perfect guitar, but a fun one for sure. The tuners could definitely use upgrading, and I may consider a bridge upgrade at some point..but it’s worked out so far as is. Thanks for chiming in!

    please consider the danelectro triple in your channel. Lightweight guitar with unique sound. I feel is it is so underrated. The pickups are amazing for ambient stuff in my opinion

      ooo! definitely will; I LOVE the lipstick pickups I have in a silvertone here in the studio (could have easily made the list too) and a 3 pickup model I'm sure would be even more versatile and great for ambient.

    My Revstar is my number one, and for the first time in 40 years of playing, I'm just interested in getting it to sound different ways, as opposed to getting all my different sounding guitars to play better. I have the HH model and I use a Keyztone Exhanger for different tones. So much gear lust was sated! It's too dark for me and I wish the character knob was bright instead of mid focused, but it plays beautifully and is a joy.

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  13 дней назад +1

      That’s my *one* gripe with the Revstar is I don’t love the focus, I feel it just muddies things up, but could see for a different type of player, and perhaps a certain amp it could be a cool thing. I just prefer the older revision AIR switch or whatever it was called that thinned things out

    • @HewittH
      @HewittH 13 дней назад

      @AmbientEndeavors I think on the least expensive Revstar it's still an air switch. The two higher end models have the focus switch (if I'm not mistaken).
