Great "Best Of" Andrew; thanks! Need a second to scrape my jaw off of the floor after seeing that Fano GF6. Speechless! You asked so my "Best of in '24"--wait for it--the US Super Nrm model released by Line 6 in Helix Version 3.80. Happy 2025!
The only physical piece of gear I bought this year was an empress buffer. Boring but made a huge improvement. My favorite piece of gear was a plug-in. The neunaber wet reverberator reverb plug-in. It’s crazy how good that thing is. Makes me want to get the Neunaber Illumine.
Great video! I think the most impactful pedal purchase this year for me was the Suhr Discovery Delay. For me, the UI is perfect and the sounds are absolutely incredible!
Chase Bliss Condor Hi-Fi is the pedal I use most of the bunch I bought this year. It’s pristine, noiseless, does great things to my tone, I love the overdrive and the squishy expression-sweepable filter is to die for.
I ended up buying too many guitars this year, including my first Gibson Les Paul Standard but I have to say my absolute favorite is my pink Reverend Double Agent OG with an ebondy fretboard. That guitar just feels so right when I play it and it looks super unique.
@@johnharris7244 It's such a phenomenal guitar. They're pretty affordable on the used market if you're cool with that. I see them for around $700 or even $650 a lot of the time.
love it! a left-handed success story ha! I always just hear lefties complain about models not being offered in left handed versions - that's cool to hear. and man I've actually been playing my DCX boost a bit lately and forgot how solid a pedal it is.
That’s a fun one! Soooo much vol and gain available ha. I had it on the board for a bit, a strong contender for my last gain stage and more versatile that a rat
The Lo-fi effect on Walrus’ M1 is gorgeous. They could make that into a pedal on its own and it’d still be worth a look. That effect is half the reason I bought the pedal. It’s gorgeous, and a bit similar to the reel effect you like on the HX One.
The first pedal I got per your advice was HX One. I agree it offers a lot. I have about 8 fav. I do lean to the dynamic & distortion. Again based on your rec the WA Ambient is so sweet. I got 3 of the series but only use the Ambient. Thx Andrew Shine on✨✨✨
I bought the SunNo from Bleak District Electric. Hoping to dive into it in 2025. Most used was a plugin - the Valhalla reverb has been used over and over again this year for guitar but also percussion and drums.
Best guitar has to be my prs pauls guitar se. Even though it's just an se I can see it being a guitar that'll be versatile workhorse for years and years for me. Best pedal I've gotten this year has to be a jhs made ross distortion, it's been what I've been missing from my rig all year. Amps have been wierd, I picked up a fender champion modeling amp and it's fine and done what I've needed it to, but it's grown uninspiring. Currently researching tube amps for what I want to get after Christmas here. I did get a quilter phantom block as a backup/direct/bass solution and I've only had it for a few weeks but I've been impressed so far.
Rad! I had a PRS vela in for a minute and it was a fantastic guitar. Would love to check out some more of the PRS lineup. I’m bummed I missed the jhs/ross close-out sale!
Retro Reel is the real deal (reminds me a lot of my Real Dealuxe from Templo, as well). The HX delays and reverbs are UNREAL too. I think Ganymede, Double Tank, Searchlights, Glitz, and the whole Dynamic series can stack up against Strymon stuff any day of the week.
i didn't do too much this year. lots of health issues and junk i've been working through. but i did get my custom shop jennings voyager. i was cautiously optimistic about loading it up with mcnelly wild ranges, as i had lollar regals in the voyager deluxe i picked up used, and they were some of the most magnificent pickups i've ever played. that said, i've fallen in love with the mcnelly's as they just do something different than the lollars did and, truthfully, different than every other guitar i own does. that said, it does make me itch for some lollar regals in another guitar. lollars are insanely good. i also need to try out fralin's - dude's shop is 10 minutes from me and i've never tried out any fralins in 20+ years of playing guitar.
love It , I was so excited to see your Jennings landed. Honestly I LOVE the pairing of the McNellys in my Voyager DLX. I'm stoked to have regals in the Fano, but I think the McNellys work well with the Jennings for whatever reason. And yeah I was kind of in the same boat with Fralins until..last year? Now I've played a few including the MIRIS J p90s and I'm a believer. Great stuff.
it is completely worthy of it ha! honestly had like 5 guitars that could have made the list, but their commission isn't an indictment. I just felt it dilutes the "best of" if you include everything ha! But that Miris is special.
Great choices.👍🏻 Here’s a quick question. I am seriously thinking of getting a Walrus Fundamental Ambient Pedal. for worship music. I have a Rv6 reverb pedal alreay on my board. Do you think they will complement well? Or is it unnecessary to get Walrus Ambient pedal as i already have an Rv 6 ? Much love. Thanks.
Recently picked up the WA Ambient. It’s a different beast than the RV6. Bigger capabilities for washy reverb, and just feels more useable. But it’s not stereo, so that’s the advantage of the RV6.

Excellent! I love their 68 bassman model release - it’s so versatile.

That’s a fantastic plugin. @signal.path helped bring that one to life. Neunaber verbs sound so good.
Hey man! Great video! Where are you gigging? Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I have that same Player II, and it truly is an amazing Jazzmaster for the price!
Just feels and sounds right. I’ve been loving it.

Such a great delay!

@@johnharris7244 Ah yeah that's totally understandable.
You're an interesting reviewer, you talk a lot about how pedals make you feel over what they do.
As I'm dialing Retro Reel on my HX Stomp, I wanna shout of the Brent Mason signature pedal Rewired from Wampler. It's amazing, I love it.
Wampler has been doing some cool stuff this year! That one looks great, and the new reverb as well.
I got a Gretsch g6228 left handed, my dream electric in 2024! Also, the Origin DCX boost is my favorite pedal of the year!

Mine would have to be the casestudy effects aspen. It’s so versatile and I’m just in love with the different lvls of gain I can get from it.

Yeah I remember liking the lofi stuff from M1. That would be cool to see in fundamental form

glad you're digging both! always happy when a recommendation is a success. :)
My favorite piece I bought this year was bensons germanium boost I really love it infront of my drives sounds incredible
💯 LOVE the benson boost.

Valhalla verbs are phenomenal! That’s a good one to pick up. And bleak district is always doing cool stuff
@ indeed. And yes Phil is the man. Once he’s finished making all the pedals from Black Friday I’ve lined him up to play some slide on album four.

i'm about to start a riot
Where are you putting Retro Reel in your chain?
I run it before my delays as I sometimes use it as a secondary delay or reverb for wash.

What's the mic you're using on your vocals there? I seem to be seeing them around a bit.
It’s a Soyuz 1973 condenser , great mic! Love it on guitar cabs and acoustic too.
Do you have a link for the gold foil pickups? Thanks

Does "washy" accompany "wishy"?
The "what good" pennant will block the sound coming out of those amps behind you.
totally. gotta move it away from the cone of those speakers, it's bad placement. thx for calling that out! 😝

Might have to make an “amendments and additions” vid. Too much good gear this year.
Consider the definition of "good".
The "trickle down" effects of DEI may be to blame for a drop in quality control.
an interesting take
@@AmbientEndeavorsInterestingly braindead 🤦♂️
OR maybe the fact that increasing profits for shareholders means cutting corners on saving pennies in the production floor.
But dei or something.
