Moving from here, id love it if Ubisoft’s next challenge was almost a remake of Assassins Creed 1 with a combo of this open world/combat style with a return to the story of the first game. By “remake” i mean redoing the setting and story of the first game but expanding it. @@MrMattyPlays Hello. I have a question about the combat in Valhalla. Considering buying the game. I enjoyed the combat in Odyssey. How is Valhalla's combat worse than Odyssey? How did it get worse? Thanks.
Modern day storytelling has fallen to the wayside in recent times, but the Desmond arc is some of Ubisoft's best creative direction. It's just that since then, none of the modern day has had any impact. Though I did like what they did to Layla at the end of ACOd with the passing of Hermes' staff.
My 3 main places my ancestors come from are Wales, Ireland and Germany, I know Ireland is coming at the beginning of next year or something in the season pass and I think Wales is not in game but the land directly bordering Wales is in the base game so I am excited to play this game (even if I have a low end pc I will be playing it on, like a gtx 970 kind of 5 year old laptop (i still love the thing and it still works pretty well))
"stealth & combat are bad" - One of the best AC game. and that's why they should rename this serie "Animus Stories" instead of ASSASSIN's creed. Because the assassin part of the game is forgotten since black flag (Origin used Black Flag as a base). I don't even need to buy the game to know it will be fast-travel land like the 2 previous one because the map is too big. Man I miss the big cities with verticality, hiding spot, actual parcour mechanics & actually being lost/amazed by the buildings, mood, characters, etc... Something lost in the empty spaces in Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla.
Actually black flag was a more like pirates creed. As origins odyssey and Valhalla are more like warriors creed. The last assassin's creed games were syndicate and unity.
Personally I never cared about the series, but then I saw Odyssey on sale and got it because I love Greek mythology and those type of open world style games. Then the commander system i liked, was pretty much the system that Shadow of War had (but SoW had way better and more in depth one) but I do see why people like yourself have the opinion you do. Series definitely took a turn in a different direction in terms of game style
I feel like Ubisoft needs to stop wasting their time putting the Assassin's Creed label on these new games and just make them there own series because I feel that them trying to add the Creed is distracting from the experience and just making people disappointed when it's not what they wanted.
That may apply to Odyssey, but it doesn’t apply to Valhalla. It’s been made rather clear that Ubi has listened to player feedback and is turning back around in the direction of previous ACs.
@@Wizard_Pikachu Dude seriously? the new combat is pretty bad, but the from AC 1 to Unity all u had to do was parry and counter with some shield breaking from time to time.

When I played origins what I really loved about the game was the exploration and the mystery of ancient Egypt. I liked delving in into ancient temples and finding the isu artifacts and messages. Each temple was unique in its own way. Something that wasn’t in odyssey
@steve sabroe I like the odyssey don’t get me wrong but every single temple felt exactly the same and I was kind of bummed out that there wasn’t any ancient messages like fun originsThe only exceptiont is in the main quest
@steve sabroe it was okay. Odyssey was like playing a god in a mortal world while Origins was like a mortal in a god’s world. That’s the only way I could describe it. It felt more grounded and mysterious
Valhalla has all of that, as a big fan of Origins and loyal hater of Odyssey, I highly recommend Valhalla, Im only at the beginning and getting lost on the map is such a pleasant experience... definitely improving on Origins! Unlike Odyssey trash

@@Wazza25 I have watch dogs legion. I don't have Assassin's Creed Valhalla . I'm worried after watching other videos on some of the weapons perk and no one handed sword. Concerning is the weapons system flawed! Will their be one or two weapons that really are better choices in Valhalla?
Calling this came the best in the series is ludicrous. This game suffers from an insane amount of bloat, I also had quite a bit of different visual bugs and gameplay issues throughout the game. I don't understand how everybody is so happy with this product
Assassins creed: Game about stealth and combat. Matty: combat and stealth are the two wrost thing in this game. Also Matty: one of the best in the series! :D lol
Your logic is flawed since the first statement isn't from Matty. The way I see it, AC moved away from it's core focus on stealth and combat. It became an RPG franchise where exploration, story and choices are also important elements. And an RPG can be very enjoyable even if the combat is lackluster. Example; the first mass effect game.
This is the only real and fair review of Valhalla I have seen, I personally really enjoyed the game thought it hit the mark on most of what it tried to do from the main viking story to the more science fiction isu based story lines. I feel a lot of the assassins creed fan base ruin their own experience for being hateful of a product before giving it it’s fair chance. Are the old games good? Yes you can play them whenever you want. Are the new games good? Yes you can play them whenever you want. I feel this rant needed to exist somewhere on the internet so it now exists in your comment section. Hope you have a good day
I love this game more than any others in the series. It fixed the one and only thing I didn't like in Odyssey... the damn grind. There isn't one here. If you play the game naturally you level up right alongside. You never HAVE to do the mysteries. You never HAVE to do any side content. You don't get rewarded much for those, the main point to do them now is for the little stories you get from each location which are actually pretty great. I've been playing since the beginning... and this is by far my favorite.
I bought the Gold edition and I'm about 20 hours in and im getting pretty irritated with it. Very little reward for my time. Virtually no loot, stealth is bad, the leveling system is a mess. Really disagree with you on this one I think. I think this may be as bad as unity. Thanks for the content though man. Keep it up!
Probably unpopular opinion, but I kind of wish there was an option to turn off all the future animus stuff. I get it, it’s assassins creed, but I literally only played odyssey for the Greek stuff, and the future crap just annoyed me. It was always at the least convenient times. Just having an option to remove that stuff and just play the Viking world would be nice for those of us who might not care as much about the whole simulated reality portions. It’s just a matter of immersion.
I used to think the story sucks or they lack a certain consistency is because they have to write around the game mechanics but then other open-world games showed me that good story can be told easily like Spider-man and Yakuza series
As long as you can say it stands up with oddessy im all in I think oddessy is the bench mark for the series recently. Can't wait until I pick it up tomorrow
Odyssey was very nice for me, but i dont think its a benchmark for the series, maybe you meant for the mythology trilogy. But even then id call valhalla as a benchmark as its much more grounded and at least has Assassins lore in it. But overall benchmark for me will always be Ac 2 in terms of environment and aesthetic and revelations for full on Ac lore.
Get rid off the assassin and this game would be amazing. Once I stopped playing like an assassin and just like a berserker Viking I was having way more fun
I was referring to the multitudes of games that have me standing right in front of my TV to view a word document text Size 6 while trying to adjust my inventory, level up and such😅.. Ohh man the game is fantastic I am like 6 hrs in the game I feel like its a whole new game i am not playing this game anymore thinking of it as AC game instead loving everything about it even better than origins and oddessy. I am happy Matty gave the right reviews.
I loved it personally but I loved Oddysey and Black Flag for much the same reason. I thought it was the best yet in the series, non of the tasks you have to do feel like filler, each has its unique quirk and personality. A lot of RUclips “reviewers” are slating it but I suggest they go back to playing Fortnite or COD for the rest of their lives and leave the proper games like this to people in search of adventure
I've started and put down ac odyssey 3 times in the last year and a half . On the other hand I've done 2 full playthroughs of valhalla in about the same time. I'm still figuring out exactly why I can't get into odyssey and exactly why valhalla hits all the right notes for me. There are so many differences to analyze but overall I'm in the valhalla camp big time .so great
Bad take not an assassins creed game shoulda been called "Viking Game" and it wouldve went down better with people. Attaching AC's name to it was an absolute joke when it literally featured nothing from AC other than Viewpoints and Assassinations but apart from them its not an AC game at all. Shite story writing aswell
While I agree with some of what you said, Valhalla is more of an Assassins Creed game than Odyssey. You said that it only has viewpoints and assassinations which you are right. Odyssey doesn’t even have a hidden blade and it takes place way before the creed was even made.
I've played nearly every AC game and could never get through any of them until Origins or Odyssey, and I got the platinum on both. Reviews are for people to make up their mind. It seems you don't need that, but it's his opinion and should be respected.
I might actually pick this one up (eventually). I skipped Odyssey simply because by that point I felt the series lost the identity that I fell in love with from AC1-Syndicate. I've heard good things about Odyssey but they didn't seem like AC games. While this still looks more like "Viking's Creed" than "Assassin's Creed", this looks like a step in the right direction.
I recommend origins over Odyssey. I loved both, but Odyssey really focuses on the isu and their history, plus there were minor gameplay aspects that made me like origins more. Also if you play Odyssey make sure to play as kassandra. She's definitely the better voice actor.
Origins and Odysse are amazing. I've played every Assassin's Creed and I love em all, definitely one of my favorite gaming franchise. For sure Origins and Odysse are my favorite in the franchise, can't wait for Valhalla!
Game is good but way too long. It gets old and repetitive at the 40 hour mark. I've played to 70 hours and I still haven't beat it and I've been only doing story missions.
In my humble opinion, Origins is the best game in the entire series. Give it a shot. Odyssey is a polarizing game but I enjoyed it immensely as well. I'm super hype for Valhalla!
@@jaceygaither5574 Origins was a pretty amazing game Odyssey in the other hand nah it was very weird and i didnt like it that much but i might wait until Valhalla is on sale
I still can't get over the fact that they used a female name for both genders, wished they'd take the extra step and have two recordings depending on which gender the player is playing as, Evior for female character and Eyvar for male character. As it is now, to Nordics it's just hilarious, this big buff Norse raider guy with a beard but he got a lady name. It's like if Master Chief was named "Sucy" or Lara Croft was named "Thomas", it's super weird.
No offense, but you cannot tell me that Odyssey is better. Coming from someone who's played 70hrs in both, Odyssey has the better map and sea exploration and that is it. The detail and combat in Valhalla is way more fluid and realistic while in Odyssey nearly every ability attack animation looks like something you'd see in a mobile game. The VA for Alexios wasn't bad, but in the game the mouthing was awful. The creed has more of an impact in Valhalla while in Odyssey it lacks. I genuinely want to know how one would think Odyssey is a better game.
@@odd1ty3 As someone who’s played 100+ hours of both I literally uninstalled Valhalla the second I beat the game cause there is jack shit to do and the main story was a slug to get through. I will always hate the modern day part of assassin's creed.
it ruins the game and basically tells you everything you do is for nothing.
Modern day storytelling has fallen to the wayside in recent times, but the Desmond arc is some of Ubisoft's best creative direction. It's just that since then, none of the modern day has had any impact. Though I did like what they did to Layla at the end of ACOd with the passing of Hermes' staff.
I'm like 80% sure they'll stop making AC games in a couple years, and reboot the franchise without all that future shit.

Personally I never cared about the series, but then I saw Odyssey on sale and got it because I love Greek mythology and those type of open world style games. there was a degree of jank but it never detracted from my experience. I just noticed it and thought it’s worth bringing up for discussion.
In Marty’s defense, AC has been straying away from the original concept for a few releases now.
Just having an option to remove that stuff and just play the Viking world would be nice for those of us who might not care as much about the whole simulated reality portions. One thing that irks me is that there is a restriction in early-game on upgrades and materials. It starts out you just need a carbon ingot and iron/leather for upgrades, but then they lock out further upgrades until you have iron bars and linen and other materials that just aren't available early on.
