    Well holy crap everyone! I'd forgotten about uploading a few videos here prior to starting the official FarmBuilder channel ( ruclips.net/channel/UC11kHJNUV88Qp-Sz06N1o1A ) and this video came up in my suggested feed. Thought it looked familiar! LOL Almost half a million views is mindblowing so I'll leave it up here. If you want to watch more videos about our farm and things I'm up to, check out the FarmBuilder Channel to keep up.

    I LOVE your ROOSTS!!!! I'm TOTALLY building one like that for my mother's hens now!!!!

    • @dabl9034
      @dabl9034 4 года назад

      Joy Alba do not create roosts like this. It incentivizes a pecking order and that’s exactly what your chickens will do, peck at each other for dominance. Also they will poop on top of each other. Always make roosts at same level.

    After watching your video I adopted some of your concepts into my chicken set up. I built a 20'x10' steel covered run - nothing of the scale of your operation. But for my flock of 16 birds it gives extra space for the birds beyond their 8x6' sleeping hose. For winter I wrap the sides with plastic sheeting that keeps the cold winter winds outside. In the mountain area I live (1865 ft above sea level) our winters are milder than yours but do have occasion to dip down into the teens...with blistering winds. Because they are in the run during spring/summer/fall months, the 4 months of winter are less of a transition for them because they have familiar access to their run complete with swing, tree stumps and treat balls. Thanks for sharing your set up, it was a fine inspiration for me.

    Excellent !
    Black, water filled 30 to 50 gal. drums were set strategically inside a friends converted greenhouse housing a small number of chickens, turkeys and even some vegetable plants in raised beds over a compost pile generating heat as well.

    When it comes time to picking out a duck to harvest for a celebration, I'm pretty sure that lone white one's thinkin', "This is bullshit man!" I had to pause the video for a couple of minutes to get the laugh out and over with.

    You care about your birds, your setup is so much more humane than the egg factories.

    What type of ventilation do you have in there? We have a hoop coop for our small 30 hen flock & they produce tons of moisture. I ended up taking the greenhouse tarp off the top of the door for ventilation purposes.
