Cheers Ross, I had to cut a load out as well as it was over an hour long! I’ve never known so many mackerel and sandeel around as this year. It’s been heaving with bait fish, that’s obviously what’s bringing them in.
Just found your channel, I’ve watched several so far, found them bright and bubbly! Good to see you catching. Looks like you’ve got a good set up there, getting the motor looks a good add on👍 I’m a bit far from the sea here, being in Alberta Canada I’m a thousand km from the sea! Originally from Yorkshire, I’ve been here since 2007 but miss the fishing in and around the uk. Keep up the good work fella, I’ve subscribed and liked, so look forward to more action. Stay afloat and stay safe👍🎣
Hi Adrian mate, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I bet there’s some pretty good fly fishing not too far from your front door. I get really excited at this time of year. Like a kid again- the thought of the whole season ahead of me! I’m gonna take a trip down to Flamborough/brid at some point in the summer. Not sure if that’s your Yorkshire or not but I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the sub it’s much appreciated. Tight lines matey 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing cheers fella, Wetherby was my hometown, an hour and a half- two hours away from the saltwater.. fishing is usually good here, ponds and rices mostly, with big lakes and reservoirs. Ice fishing doesn’t really appeal to me , that can last 8 months!!🙈 Snowing again today! Roll on summer 👍 stay safe.
Thanks very much matey, it was a crazy day. I had to cut a load out as well to make the vid shorter would you believe. A good problem to have mind, I’m not complaining 😂🎣

Truly enjoyed that buddy 😊 👍, I get out kayaking with my son bassing and breaming occasionally down in Devon and love it 👌. Ssssoooo wish we could get codling like that on the south coast 🙄 lol. Have you ever thought about livebaiting with mackerel?, That's what I do when bassing here on a helicopter rig, awesome sport 😁, im sure you'd pick up your prime fish 💯👌. Thanks again for the brilliant entertainment 👍👍tight lines 😊
Thanks Andrew, glad you’re enjoying the vids. I wish we had more bass on the North East Coast so the grass is always greener isn’t it 😂 I consider the pollack to be the Geordie bass so I can’t complain really 👍🎣
I know what you mean Stephen- I don’t think it’s as much to do with depth as we might imagine. I think it’s more to do with ground covered, I can drift 3 kilometres in an hour at Beadnell. That’s a lot of distance, and when your lure fishing the fish aren’t coming to you as you know, as there’s no scent trail, you are going to them if that makes sense?
@@onthedropfishing yer I know what you mean, use to do a bit of boat fishing at one time 👍, still managed to get a good few small fish to lures, think biggest ive had this year has only been a Pollack about 2.5lb but think the weather has been slightly against me this year with most of the time when I can get out there is colour in the water
I've just started watching your videos.Superb.Can you recommend what to buy clothing wise for ,say,winter/spring RIB fishing?I'm overwhelmed by ads etc and you're obviously well set up.Thanking you in advance.
Hi Richard, I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I can only speak as a kayaker so personally for winter I would suggest a dry suit. I know you’re much less likely to go in in a RIB than a kayak but the benefits are still great in winter and of course the water temp is at it’s lowest in spring. If you go the drysuit route get one with a relief zip! Hope that helps 👍🎣
Really enjoying your videos! so much so I am going to take up the sport, can you give any info on drysuit, boots you should wear and any other essential equipment I should have? I saw the video on the kayak you have now, looks great! thanks in advance and keep up great work.
Hi Iain, glad you’re enjoying the channel. When you get a drysuit be sure to get one with a convenience zip! Nothing worse than getting caught short out there! You also must have a hand held floating and waterproof VHF plus a pfd (buoyancy aid) Regards boots I’ve tried just about everything and a cheap pair of waterproof shoes from Tesco have been by far the best! Kayak wise you want something over 12ft for the sea. Tight lines 👍🎣

Hi mate, yes is the answer. It’s a drysuit and PFD (not a life jacket) it’s what the RNLI etc wear. It’s designed exactly for that job, working in the water rescuing either yourself or someone else. I’ve done self rescue training on the kayak as well. If I became separated from my kayak for whatever reason I’ve got hours rather than minutes thanks to the drysuit. 👍🎣

I was at Beadnell yesterday. Stack of fish around. Some nice cod to 5-6lb and huge shoals of baitfish. Beadnell starts early and finished late so is a good shot right now.
They’re just Tesco’s own brand waterproof shoes. Buy of the year! I’ve spent fortunes on wading boots etc and these are better by far. The North Sea is canny warm at this time of year. When it’s cooler thermal socks under my drysuit does the job. 👍
To be honest I don’t know if it really makes any difference. Last time out I felt like it did but who knows. It can’t do any harm, maybe in coloured water it could give you an edge. The jury is still out as far as I’m concerned. I suppose that’s a long winded way of saying no idea! 🤣🎣
