In 1969 I was 15, growing up in the East Bay across from San Francisco. It was a wonderful time in my life. Concerts in those days in SF at the Filmore West, and Winterland and growing up with Bill Graham's Day on the Green at the Oakland Coliseum. Rolling Stones, The Who Steve Miller, Hot Tuna, Albert King, Elton John, It's a Beautiful Day!Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd❤🎉😅 It was Good on the Earth, and people were gentle, caring and kind. THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND, WE THOUGHT THEY'D NEVER end. We'd sing and dance forever and a day. We'd live the life choose, we'd fight and never lose. For we were young and sure to have our way. This idea was established as fact by Marija Gimbutas, a Lithuanian female archeologist in the 20th century.
She discussed about a matriarchal, egalitarian, peaceful society that worshipped the Great Mother Goddess. I was born the year this song came out but they played it when I was little all the time. It reminds me of summer in the early 70's, playing, fresh air, the smell of early mornings, there was something different about a 70's sun, being in a bathing suit all day, dad was still alive, relatives stopping by no one needed an invite and there was no such thing as a play date, Uncle Pat bringing rolls and bagels over on Sunday morning, such a sweet innocent time. They are all gone now, this world is hell, there is no direction anymore.

Society is embracing deviance and dysfunction. Innocence is gone for ever. I was born in '57 and I am glad. I do not see children jumping from bed like rockets with stars in their eyes any more. We found excitement in a simple pool or stream. No one cared about money - I now know we were poor but then no one cared so I did not realize it growing up. Today everything is money , glitz and superficial feelings generated by what social media prescribe you should feel. We must have lost the road ... as the Bee Gees sang.

i will never know what it was like to live in the 60's. not even a bit- i can make assumptions, but assumptions are always skewed from reality.
i'm glad the past can live again through music and the people who lived through it.
i hope i will be able to remember my teenage years like this when i'm a bit older, with fondness and nostalgia found just through music.

Not to minimalize the war in Viet Nam, my brother, neighbor, and several friends took part in.
The 60s and early 70s were just that PEACE and LOVE with if you can imagine. Most used drugs of some sort, including myself. Even though I was born in 1952, I started drinking just before I turned 14 and was basically in charge of myself, as was my twin sister. Long story.
It was hard at that age being alone, but it was beautiful.
There were other issues, of course, going on here and abroad, but nothing like today.
I will be 72 next month and want to bury my head in the sand. I have 3 children, five grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. What will become of their lives? It scares and saddens me at the same time.
I am sorry you didn't get to feel the 60s.
Get some friends together, and go camp out in a field somewhere safe. No drugs needed. You don't need to get smashed with alcohol. Have a few drinks of Boones Farm Strawberry Hill. Take along some prerecorded 60s music and a boom box to play oldies.
Don't think about the world today. Make it off limits. Just enjoy yourself and do what comes naturally. Laugh and have fun. That little bit will give you a smidgen of a taste of what it was like. Wear whatever the hell you want, don't comb your hair if you don't want to.
Have fun, don't do anything illegal, lol.

I would like to share a life experience, if I may...I was 14 at the time of Woodstock '69...and I wanted to go real bad. My cousin had just gotten back from his first tour of Viet Nam. I told him about it, and he said we could go...if my Dad and Mom approved. After some talking, I got the ok. We left on Saturday for the 4 hour drive ( I lived in Batavia, New York at the time.) By the time we got there, you couldn't get close with a car, so we slept in the back of his truck. Early Sunday morning we walked in ( about a mile..not sure how far) When we finally got close , we could hear The Who playing. The excitement I felt is hard to explain....I had never been with so many people before...but I felt at peace. We kept moving closer to the stage...then Jefferson Airplane came on. I was mesmerized by Grace Slick. So beautiful and such a powerful voice. My cousin turned me on to a joint (my first time...Dad didn't need to know about this we both agreed.) We stayed until Joe Cocker played and the big storm hit. Since I had to be in summer school on Monday ( a Dad rule) we headed back home. During that storm, my cousin gave me his army field jacket...It was an experience I have cherished my whole life... Now I'm 63... Peace!

I was riding in the car with my mom and sister; we had just left my grandmother's house in Toole, Utah, where we had stayed for a week to visit her, and were making the long trip back home to Washington state. The sun was just coming up and this song came on the radio. Funny how those memories pop up when you hear a certain song. While we were at my grandma's, we watched the moon landing on TV. Little did I know at the time what a big deal that was! We didn't usually watch much TV at home because the reception was so bad, we only got a couple channels! This song brings back a good memory.

It's amazing how deep the fishing hole is and what a little piece of music can bring to the surface. I'm one who literally has music going in my head every waking minute that I'm not engaged in conversation.... literally 1000s of songs. Someone will say a couple of words and it brings back a song and the memories that went with it. I used to hate it but now I love it. It's why I'm here now. Someone used the words, "sing a song" and suddenly I'm hearing Oliver and remembering a neighbor girl, Susie, and the daisies she was wearing when I heard this on the car radio. Dad turned off the car almost at the end and the song died... but not the memory. I never saw this video before, but it brought back a lot of memories of being 11 years old.

I was 19 in 1979 and the local Seattle radio station had a thing called "electric lunch" where from 12-1pm they would play nothing but the classic 60's music. It was my favorite thing and I so wished that I had been born 10 years earlier! I wanted to wake up in that flat in san francisco listening to Donovan in 1967 as a 19 year old. Because by the end of the 70's things started to get very commercial and they just played the same thing on the radio over and over again and a lot of it was good, but a lot of it was bad. But as an 8-9 year old I did remember a lot of this music.

I played drums in a working band all throughout high school. We had a gig nearly every night and wouldn't get home most (mornings) until about 2 am and was up again in a few hours for school. Those were actually the least complicated years for me. Not sure how I graduated "HIGH" school since I drank like a fish, smoked pot and tripped out on acid (LSD) on a regular basis. Songs like this were always uplifting and gave us all a good feeling with a positive outlook on the future... too bad the world changed around the mid '70's it seems. But maybe it was just the thrill and excitement of those wonderful years wearing off as I grew. idk but people who didn't experience those years have no true idea how life really was back then..... xoxoxo

yeah. that is beat out of the current generation. They do not sit back and relax, or meditate or contemplate. They rush rush. They twiddle their thumbs on their phones or twitter or facebook. They never quiet their mind.
Go Buddhism, maybe that lifestyle can help save this damned world from constant buzzing

One month before Woodstock, in July 1969 the USA landed the first Earthling men on the moon. The spirit (and a US V.P. Spiro Agnew slogan) was, "on to Mars!" Everything felt doable.

Me too, 67 now and strangely, younger (20-30 +) year olds ask me more about my memories of those ideals and not the specific memories. I feel the most significant thing was that we followed a Teach not Preach approach to life without realizing it. Previous education seemed to coerce and limit our thinking, our thirst for questioning is probably why this era was so special for us as this seems to have paved a way for the world to open up. Sadly that has brought demons with it .

I am 70, and these were excellent times, not perfect but people had some fun, inhaled deeply, appreciated the colours man, the good vibes, watching the clouds and the music that was part of your soul. There were many gains for everyone, and now the Republicans are out to destroy all the progress that was made. I do not know if just being human and not hating will come back, but I used to like to say, Peace, Love and Bobby Sherman...I do miss so many people from that time they were so fine.

I started college in 1969 after the US Army tried to get me killed in Vietnam. I was not hassled on my way home, it was all beautiful. There will never be another time like it. This brings back memories even if it's only a recreation.
