My Grandpa's funeral was yesterday, he was survived by my Grandma. This song was played at their wedding 55 years ago and it was played at my Grandpa's funeral as his last request. My grandma at the funeral talked (through tears) about how the song speaks of a "promised land" but as the song goes on to say it is a "long, long journey" and that the marriage was difficult, even turning into a "nightmare" at times, but with God's grace it was worth it, every minute of 55 years, it was worth it up until "death do us part".
I joined the military in early 65 , the night before I left home my mother played this song. I get a tear every time I hear it. My mother passed in 1966. I wasn't there when she died.
:( Wish I had words that would comfort......the thoughts the& feelings are here..just not the words I'd desire to reach into that place where the heart holds all......
During my apprenticeship, to the Mid Sussex Water Company (1963 - 1968) my boss, who shall remain nameless, was definitely in love with Judith Durham. Never realised the depth of his feelings towards this lady. At my advanced age!, and watching these videos, I now understand his infatuation. She is/was one of the very best singers from my era. RIP Judith Durham. Many thanks to You Tube for these beautiful opportunities to reminisce. You have a lot to answer for!!!!
Absolutely. When people could actually appreciate songs. I was born in 78 but worked in theatres for 20 years, and much more appreciate this style of music.
There is still a lot of talent, especially among young folks who again play the old 'classics'... Please watch Josh Turner Guitar, the Reo Brothers, the Mona Lisa Twins, Foxes and Fossils and many others on You Tube.
You have a good taste in music.... I hope you continue to appreciate the better stuff...as opposed to the nonsense of today. (But everyone says that as they get older ...but...trust me... it is true!)

So true. I think you and countless others, including me, experience the same thing whenever they hear this incredible song, performed by this superb band and phenomenal vocalist.
I only started to really enjoy what my parents enjoyed as they dated, went roller skating, worked and fell in love in Lethbridge Alberta in 1963 at a pharmacy counter where myndad drank egg creamed and fell hard for a Scottish lass who I migrated in 1948 to live on beautiful Alerts, Canada. Miss you Mum and Dad
A 21 year old Judith Durham. Just wonderful to see how she addresses the microphone. No ego, gimmicks, auto-tuning or pitch-correction software. She just stood there with hands behind her back and belted it out. Absolutely fabulous! How times have changed.
We all know that no-one can live forever, but it still comes as a shock to lose such an immense talent, RIP Judith and thank you for the pleasure your music has given.
My Mum passed away yesterday aged 79, she loved the Seekers, we are an Australian family in Melbourne ( home of the seekers ). When this song came on the radio she would sing along! Going to play it her funeral.
Music will Always be the best way to express and feel emotions, I remember when I was about 11 years old, I grew up with the sixties music and I Always loved a "rougher" style of music, but when I first heared The Carnival Is Over from The Seekers it grabbed me by the throath and I was a fan for life!! (fyi, did Alice Cooper last october here in the Netherlands, loved it, completely different, which shows, there is NO style which can't be appealing).
Good for you. Music has that ability to bring back memories. This video brings me back to my childhood not only by the song but the video production just looks so 60s. Don't know why. The sound quality is fantastic.
This woman sang so effortlessly yet she's among the best of the voices I've heard. Her voice is almost too good to be authentic, I'm very impressed with her and the guys, the memories of the music and the times are priceless.
So sorry for your lose billy..I lost my husband 7 years ago last February and we.d been married 39 years. Its strange how some music triggers memories.. and I used to play to him YOU WON'T FIND ANOTHER FOOL LIKE ME.. lol. There are lots of 60s songs that reminds me of the happy times we was together... You take care ..
Judith's lovely voice not to mention a beauty that puts all of the Kardashians to shame. God I am thankful that the 60's were my teen years. Greatest music ever.
God bless you Judith. Two years ago I sat holding my Mum's hand while this played at my Dad's funeral. Your voice gave us immense pleasure when I was growing up and immense comfort in difficult times. You'll never be forgotten x
Judith's voice did something to me when I was 8 years old and 60 years on it still pulls at my heart. There's something magical about her voice....what a life's joy.
I heard her before I met my love and wondered if I'd ever feel that way about anyone. And I did, and I was lucky that I was young. I'm 75 now and she's 76 and we're coming to the end, and neither of us will ever find another to replace us. Please have hope that it will happen for you.

There is nothing wrong with dancing, it just shows that people are enjoying themselves. Anyone can wear whatever they want, outfits and clothing styles are a personal decision to be made ONLY by the person wearing them. And tattoos are only your business if they're on your body. Don't behave like a bitter little boy.
@@eienblack8570 I guess their point is these things have taken the place of talent. If all you have is a clown outfit and clown makeup, you're just a clown. If you want to be a clown that's okay like you say, but it does not equal talent. Most people these days are afraid of clowns, at any rate. It turns out they're a bunch of psychos.

I am devastated to hear that Judith Durham has passed away 5th August 2022. I listen to her sing EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. The voice of an ANGEL, Rest In Peace lovely Judith 😥😭😭
I definitely come back to this a few times a year., and each time I listen to it about ten times in a row. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. It's like I can't wrap my head around it... It's too good. :)
To the contrary, my 19-year-old granddaughter just loves The Seekers, and I send their songs to her, often! She is a student of music, (mostly viola, flute, ukelele and guitar), and she loves old songs of this era!
June 14 of 2023 my husband passed away to his home in Heaven. This song of the Seeker says it all. I cried through it but so true I'll never find another man like my Jimmy, my ditto man. Love you for as long as I live
Judith Durham probably had the purest voice ever. Her notes are perfect and her diction so clear and precise. It has been a privilege to hear her over the years since The Seekers started. :-)
Soy músico y me identifico con The Seekers. Además, si han continuado juntos tantos años es porqué también son personas que se cuidan, i al mismo tiempo han cultivado la amistad entre ellos. Muchas gracias.
This will probably get lost in the comments but my Nan adored the seekers back in the 60s. This June marked 7 years since she passed. Music is such a special thing. It takes you back and it brings back the great memories. This does the latter for me. I love you so much Nan and I’ll see you again ♥️
So lovely you have those memories of your Nan loving their music. Now today we learn Judith has passed away. Voice of an Angel , I too listened to her sing in the 60's. RIP gorgeous Judith,❤
She was the voice of my childhood. So many happy times associated with their songs. I'm listening to them now on YT crying my eyes out because everyone I loved then are all gone. Music brings back so many memories.
Listening 🎧 to this Song reminds me of A Very SPECIAL Lady that I feel In love 💕 💕💕💕💕 with back in the mid 80's ( The LAST part of the 80s 😭😭😭😭😭😭,. I still think of HER Today
I understand why you still enjoy the song after all these years. You have excellent taste in music. This is one of the greatest recordings in history. I was born in 1948 and this is my absolute all-time favorite. Why? Because I also have excellent taste in music. Hi james, thanks for sharing such a precious memory
Lost mu husband in December 21 had this played at his funeral.
So sorry for your loss……an excellent song choice, says it all!
Sorry for your lost. My dearest wife died in car crush last month. This dedicated for her....💙🏴
During my apprenticeship, to the Mid Sussex Water Company (1963 - 1968) my boss, who shall remain nameless, was definitely in love with Judith Durham.
Back when people had talent, class, and heart.
Very true.

Well stated.

Gosh, she was pitch perfect, wasn't she, and such a pure, sweet voice. Sends chills through me this morning, as I just read now about her passin. RIP
Of all time
I only started to really enjoy what my parents enjoyed as they dated, went roller skating, worked and fell in love in Lethbridge Alberta in 1963 at a pharmacy counter where myndad drank egg creamed and fell hard for a Scottish lass who I migrated in 1948 to live on beautiful Alerts, Canada.
Agreed entirely. Pure talent. I doubt that the version we're listening to was recorded like that however. I'd be very happy to be proved wrong.
We all know that no-one can live forever, but it still comes as a shock to lose such an immense talent, RIP Judith and thank you for the pleasure your music has given.

Ain't she something?
Agreed. Another You, along with Paul Stookey's rendition of Wedding Song. My favorites of all time.
Love the Guitar intro
I may be a 32 year old who loves metal, and black metal to boot. But The Seekers will forever be my favourite band because they remind me of my mum.
My Mum passed away yesterday aged 79, she loved the Seekers, we are an Australian family in Melbourne ( home of the seekers ). When this song came on the radio she would sing along! Going to play it her funeral.
Just Me hope the funeral went/goes well! A perfect song for a funeral. With deepest sympathy from England
I'm welling up here. my late father had this on eight track stereo in the car, early 80s.
Good for you. Music has that ability to bring back memories. This video brings me back to my childhood not only by the song but the video production just looks so 60s. Don't know why. The sound quality is fantastic.

Judith Durham has the most beautiful voice❤️
Yes. This lady really has a Captivating voice.
I have sound-to-color synesthesia, and she has the pinkest voice I've ever heard!
I couldn't agree more
@@shortybeck1948. That is so interesting. Do things like autotune have an effect on the color of a voice?
@@OP-1000 That's a good question! Autotune doesn't affect the color of a voice, but it can alter the colors of individual notes.
RIP Judith. Grace, kindness and a heavenly voice.
This woman sang so effortlessly yet she's among the best of the voices I've heard. Her voice is almost too good to be authentic, I'm very impressed with her and the guys, the memories of the music and the times are priceless.

No stupid dancing, outfits or tattoos only pure talent on stage.
The golden age
that's because they're in a recording studio
There is nothing wrong with dancing, it just shows that people are enjoying themselves. Anyone can wear whatever they want, outfits and clothing styles are a personal decision to be made ONLY by the person wearing them. And tattoos are only your business if they're on your body. Don't behave like a bitter little boy.
@saintquinn007 and what's wrong with dyeing your hair? why shouldn't people take advantage of the technology they have available to them?
@@eienblack8570 I guess their point is these things have taken the place of talent. If all you have is a clown outfit and clown makeup, you're just a clown. If you want to be a clown that's okay like you say, but it does not equal talent. Most people these days are afraid of clowns, at any rate. It turns out they're a bunch of psychos.

Soy músico y me identifico con The Seekers. Además, si han continuado juntos tantos años es porqué también son personas que se cuidan, i al mismo tiempo han cultivado la amistad entre ellos. Muchas gracias.
