I first heard this song when I was 5 years old in 1965 in Malaysia. At that time, I never knew who the singers were. Today I heard it again when I am 59 years old. I was moved to tears. But I did not want to keep this beautiful memory to myself, so I invited my daughter Ruth (18 years) to listen to this song. I told her my childhood story, growing up and listening to this song. When she heard it, she started to cry as well. And we both hugged each other and cried. We were amazed at Judith's voice, the male accompaniments and the unforgettable lyrics. So touching.
It`s been a while since I`ve hear this for a while Peter, and made me fill up listening to it too. So many memories it brought up, from growing up with my beloved parent`s.

Nothing seems big enough to describe this wonderful lady’s talent and subsequent music career. A sad day for Australia and the wider music loving World. Bless you Judith Durham.
No other sound can transport me back into the 1960s as do the Seekers. Judith Durham with her incredible voice together with great backing play and rhythm. Life seemed simpler then, and days full of happiness.
My mother (Sadly passed) loved the Seekers and while they were not cool to me then, I have come to realise what an amazing singer Judith was and the tremendous talent and sound they had. What a voice Judith had (R.I.P.).
My favourite Seekers song because this was Judith Durham at her best - the sweetest voice in pop history? A national treasure - Australia's treasure, that is!
Yes, another beautiful Seekers song - simple words again, make it so powerful. Like "I'll never find another you" I can hardly sing it without crying. Judith Durham's velvety voice will remain forever.
Ended up myself crying as I hear the lyrics of this song now that Madam's Judith is no longer with us. I'm a 31-year old lad from the Philippines who supposed to be a fan of modern-day songs; but this group (The Seekers) indeed caught my heart after I have listened to their greatest hits "Georgy Girl", "I'll never find another you" and "The Carnival is over". Hate to hear the lyrics sang by Madam Judith. She had lived an awesome and amazing life, a very distinct voice that is uniquely hers; a very vibrant and joyous melody. My favorite Australian quartet will never be complete without her. Such respect and she''ll be badly, definitely and greatly missed. Rest in power from Manila!
The eyes are the windows to the soul. You look at Judith's eyes as she sings and you see grace, humility, beauty and sweetness. Today, what you see in young singers is emptiness and darkness. I am 54 and rediscovering real music and singers such as lovely Judith. Sweetness. God Bless.
It's true - groups of that era, like Abba and the Beatles and Queen and suchlike... they wrote SONGS - actual songs, with tunes and harmonies! Most modern signers these days just seems to throw together tuneless dirges that they sing in tired stoned-sounding voices... and mostly their "love songs" are about sex, rather than love and marriage. Classics are called classics for a reason. They were memorable.
@@DCLeadboot Now that's what I call the truth. Well said, my love. They just cannot write beautiful songs any more. Simply cannot understand why. There hasn't been a 'classic' for years.
This is a Russian folk song about the formidable chieftain Stepan Razin (as Robin Hood). Russians love to sing it when they gather at the table during the holiday.
Best you got to somewhere where they need water where there's fires .....just joking but it would help lol ,with life brings harsh realities like the death of a loved one ,i dont mean to be rude to you but just maybe a laugh can sometimes help a sorrow moment in time
This song was the favorite song of my late wife's father. He was Latvian, and although he usually wasn't fond of pop music he loved this song. The reason was that the melody is an old Russian folk song that he had known as a child in Latvia. He passed away in 1971, and my late wife in 2015. I have since remarried and moved from Australia to the Philippines, and now I introduce my Filipina wife to this wonderful song. It always reminds me that it's important to live in the moment. And she actually sings beautifully - unlike these fake constructed divas we hear today with their pre recorded trash.
We’ll always have the joy of Judith’s voice though. What a stunning legacy!
Thank you to The Seekers for so many wonderful songs and memories. Vale, Judith.
Beautiful voice but even more important a Beautiful human being how we need people like her in the world today

What a wonderful voice 😍 and nobody else today gets close.
You are so correct about her voice
Hello Fiona, How are you doing?
Not even Kylie!?!?! 🤣
Voice of an angel
Absolutely, i remember this wonderful Australian group when i was a boy,i was 11 years old when this was sung.
My dad chose this to be played at his funeral. We did. Not a dry eye. Love you Daddy xxx
And me...It reminds me of leaving Singapore in the 60s. Life is a carnival...
Happy to be 100. A great song to go out to. You'll see him again some day. God Bless.
My dad whistled this song every morning for as long as I could remember so we played at his farewell service too x
I played this at my mom's memorial service. I plan to have it played at mine when the time comes with instructions to have a great party afterwards
David Smith Sorry for your loss.
A gorgeous voice that will carry on forever, one of Australia's greatest. RIP from Canada.
same here and also RIP Susan Jacks from The Poppy Family & Judith Durham from The Seekers, they'll be their last goodbyes
This song's melancholy refrain has always been a tear jerker; even more so since I heard the news of Judith passing away yesterday. I am sixty years old and the Seekers (particularly Judith's Chrystal clear voice) form some of my earliest musical memories. RIP lovely lady. Your voice will live on.

R. V. Datmir who is Anna German? The Seekers is definitely the best known version.
@@simonramsay6080 Best-known yes, but being best-known does not make anything the best. The Russian lyrics have much more power, and Anna German enhanced it greatly. Look her up. You will find her interesting at the very least.

You responded to my message re The Carnival is Over Wounded. In hospital back in 66. You must have had your poor mother in knots! . With VE day just having past I felt it only right to respond. They certainly don't churn out decent songs nowadays. Look after yourself during this mad pandemic. Chela.x

I think that Judith Durham was one of the most underated female singers she had a fabulous voice so easy and clear one of the best of her generation sadly missed
Such sad news. Judith's voice takes me back to my childhood. In our memories the carnival will never be over. ❤
Thank you Judith. May God bless.
As long as I can hear her voice and see her face old our young the carnival will never be over.

My wonderful father died on my 15th birthday on the 10th April 1964. I sang the Seekers songs accompanied by my accordion from the age of 16. My best were Morningtown Ride and The Carnival is over. I am 75 now and tomorrow I will take down my accordion ans see how I do. I will teach my 6 year old grandson Abe Morningtown Ride as its surely a little child's song under the blankets. So sorry for your loss. My late brother loved Seekers and this song
So touching.
what a beautiful story, nearly brought me to tears, take care both of you.

Lucky enough to see the Seekers at Longleat House in the mid sixties and met them backstage after their performance. Such a friendly group of people. Judith Durham had a magnificent voice. A truly wonderful lady.

Dear Judith ... It is WE who will love you till we die.

She always seems at her best because singing comes so natural like a song bird
Yes, it's my favourite too .... I spite of the tears I inevitable she'd when listening to it !!
R.I.P. Judith, a fantastic voice that will live on.
What a beautiful song and voice. There’s no musicianship like this group anymore.
Well said. You summed up Judith and the Seekers quite beautifully. Thank you, xx Peter S
The eyes are the windows to the soul. You look at Judith's eyes as she sings and you see grace, humility, beauty and sweetness. Today, what you see in young singers is emptiness and darkness.
I am 54 and rediscovering real music and singers such as lovely Judith.
Sweetness. God Bless.
Jake Toms Please listen to Amira Willighagen. You will thank me.
pity the seekers plagiarised it instead of writing it themselves-it is originally from Russia

I was 9 when this song was released. I still recall the lurch of sadness when I heard the Seekers were disbanding.
She was a favourite of my father's and just playing it now I'm in floods of tears. Bitter sweet memories.
Time moves on, but we can love every moment of time.
