- My breakfast box for overnight oats!
As someone who struggles to make breakfast every morning, overnight oats are one of the easiest ways for me to get in a satisfying and delicious meal! I’ve tried many overnight oats recipes, but this is one of my favorites.
Overnight oats is typically made in a mason jar, but I often found it difficult to mix the ingredients together, especially when I used my small mason jar. Once I prepared my overnight oats in my snack box, I never looked back! Not only is it portable, but it’s also easier to mix and saves me time in the morning by allowing me to store toppings in the same container but separately from the oats. Snack container listed on my Amazon storefront
Recipe:
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/4 c plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 3/4-1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup almond milk (or whichever milk you prefer!)
- Cinnamon
Topping:
- Diced apples
- Chopped pecans
- Drizzle of maple syrup

I need to go back to overnight oats, those are deadass the most filling breakfasts i'd ever have
For real! Super great for taking to work

I’m Chinese & in my culture we don’t eat cold food in the morning.
It could just be a shock to your system so to speak. You could try setting them out on the counter after they've been in the fridge so they come to room temperature a bit :)
I’ve heard that our body prefers warm foods until about 12noon. Idk if it’s true but that’s what I always keep in mind when breakfasting
I had an expired Twinkie covered in Nutella for breakfast today, but yours looked good too.

Yes! Overnight oats are so good. I love mine with oat milk, fat-free sky yogurt, chia seeds, vanilla, maple syrup, cinnamon, raspberries, and pumpkin seeds.
Unless you're making your own, oak milk contains seed oil, at least the ones I've seen and artificial vitamins. fat free yoghurt means they've striped all the good stuff, including the natural enzymes that help with digestion. and they again replace it with sugar which is what makes you fat in the first place. Might want to change up some of the ingredients, everything you eat should help with digestion...
@@vivianlaw13if they want it then let them have it, it’s completely ok to have something even if it’s not actually healthy as long as it makes them happy, but yea it’s also good to eat stuff that helps digestion too
@@Tasniim_ Yes, as long as you don't feel guilty eating something unhealthy it's okay to do once in a whole, but on a day to day basis definitely whole food ingredients...
I always make my overnight Oats with Vanilla protein powder to add some protein(i know it's processed).
@@vivianlaw13Greek yogurt is best according to Jessie Inchauspe author of The Glucose revolution. Also she says to eat a savoury breakfast and not sweet also oats first thing causes a glucose spike .
I tend to prefer a warm breakfast so I cook my oats on the stovetop, but my dad really loves the convenience of overnight oats. Either way, they are delicious ☺️

Hi is it a certain oats that I have to buy for this overnight concoction or just any oats? Thank you in advance
@@starrfishhill hi there! Rolled oats are the best ones for making overnight oats. I would NOT recommend steel cut because they only cook well on the stove. I hope this helps :)
@@sarahhaseena Oh thank you I appreciate that I’ve got good old quaker oats in the pantry I’m gonna try this
@@sarahhaseena I've used steel cut for overnight! I use a mix of oats for different textures. Steel cut will soften way more if you let them sit more than one night too 👍
I like the oats cooked, otherwise looks good.

Hpw long do I need to cook oats?
It’s overnight oats. Essentially they become the same consistency as cooked from sitting overnight.
I eat the overnight oats with banana and dried dates. Super yummy.
You should try savory oats! I cook oats as normal, then add in 1 tsp of hontsuyu (bonito soup base), 1/2 tsp of sesame oil, and some onion powder (diced onions would work well but I’m lazy). I top it off with some spinach and 2 eggs. It’s basically congi but with oats.

You're kinda messing with the fibre structure that way. I do half and half
Yess!!! I started doing this recently (thanks instagrams) and I’ll never go back!! So good!!
Omg this is the way - thank you!!
@@emmanuelaemejuru7190 I also blend my oats, I'm wondering what you mean by messing with the fiber structure? You will chew them anyway and your stomach has acid so wouldn't that also mess with the fiber structure?
That actually looks like it would taste good! Unlike those who just tell you to drink water for breakfast, like!?!?!
Yes, and it has a good amount of protein for a breakfast.
And also a good amount of sugar. The only thing that didn't have sugar in it was the nuts and nuts have protein and when you mix protein and sugar together, it spikes your blood sugar more than just sugar alone. This is definitely not a healthy breakfast for someone who is insulin resistance which is literally more than half the country

what is healthy about carbs and sugar?
@@rhighan4357everything about in moderation. it feeds your brain and gives you energy
@@rhighan4357 Remember, carbs can include fiber, starches, and fruit sugars. Carbs (aka sugars) are a type of macronutrient that serves as a more readily available energy source when broken down into glucose. Glucose is necessary to carry out various biological processes in the body, but can also be internally synthesized. Still, dietary carbs (if consumed not in excess) can most definitely be a part of a whole or more “healthy”, balanced diet

@@LulaMae21 morning, do you know that your body also can use fat at its source of energy? Also do you know that your body also can make its glucose indigenously? That's called gluconeogenesis. So there's no need for you to supplement your body with exogenous carbs aka sugar aka carbs. The amount of glucose in our system is less than a tea spoon at a given time. You always have days worth of glycogen stored in your muscles and liver. Carbs turn into glucose in our body and the glucose higher than the body's natural amount is damaging, so we'll either get rid of the excess by peeing it out or it'll rapidly turn into body fat. I don't see anything worthy in taking carbs or anything that'll mess up my natural blood glucose. My information might be lacking but I have an open mind to learn and accept new knowledge, I'd suggest you to be open minded and search about it. Look up Dr Anthony Chaffee and Dr Ken Berry you'll find many other knowledgeable individuals if you find them interesting. Also don't blindly trust dietitians/nutritionists or the advertised food guidelines.
