- Stormgate is a very StarCraft-y RTS made by a number of ex-StarCraft developers. We went hands-on with the Zerg-like Infernal Host faction in our exclusive new preview, written by Leana Hafer.

Nice to see how the infernals are shaping up. It's cool to finally get a sense of the asymmetry between the different factions.
Love the placeholder models for the catapults. Looks hilarious sharing the same space as a fully fleshed out unit.
Since Blizzard can't give us what we want, this is the next best thing. Love it.

@@mangelm1416 my dude, that's what op is referring to. SC2 is over ten years old now. I'm pretty sure blizzard has said they don't plan on doing anything with the IP for the foreseeable future. Frost Giant, the makers of Storm gate, were developers for SC2. They left when blizzard decided they didn't want to do more rts stuff.

Check out the UI at 1:20. Shroudstone has as many as 4 different abilities! Weaver's appearance blew me away - the coolest looking unit in the entire game, looks terryfying, strange and really demonic

As someone who’s been playing RTS games for years, this is one of my most anticipated if not my most anticipated game of next year. I’m just slightly put off by the fact that it’s free to play with microtransactions.

My wish with it's childish artstyle, is that it will show kids this fantastic genre - RTS
The basic looking dragon seems a bit out of place in this faction of infernal monstruosities.
Time will tell, but it doesn’t seem to have enough of its own identity

Doesn't feel dark and grim and atmospheric like the original starcraft. Sad but I'm looking forward for the gameplay.

Wish they would change the design of the shroud... all that brown on screen just isn't appealing. Surely there's a way to make it less flat and well... brown?

Not a fan of the artstyle. Everything else sounds pretty cool, though.
Those shadows are really distracting to me.
It's alpha, lighting and shadows and finer details will be fixed by launch.
In alpha, focus is not on art but gameplay functions. Maybe they shouldn't have revealed alpha footage.

Na alpha usually has the art direction figured out. Polish will be added but lighting??? That's what it's gonna look like
they really need improve the colours and graphics of the map, is very poor at this stage... but the game looks promising...

Tell me this isnt the graphics they are going for lol so scuffed. Im not gonna mention that UI. SC2 came out a decade ago and still nothing beats that quality.

This looks like a mobile game, sc2 is almost 15 years old and looks light years better. Huge letdown so far

As sad as it is they genuinely need to mention stuff like that, some people are so brainless that in previous reveals people were genuinely complaining about models that were extremely obvious placeholders.
Balance is boring man... gimme OP stuff cuz that's actually fun, if it's another Multiplayer focused game which is already saturating the RTS genre atm it's just gonna drift away into a null state like Starcraft 2

👎🏽This is not Starcraft-y at all. This is more fantasy than the cold space hard sci-fi that defined the entirety of StarCraft: Brood War and early, pre-HotS Stacraft 2. IGN is just using "StarCraft-y" to bait clicks

@butthurtemperor Nah what's sad is people like you supporting a terrible, soulless game that could have been made in 2009 for mobile. This is not what the developers promised us as the next generation in RTS.
As a RTS / Starcraft Fan - this looks "bad" / worse than sc2 - which in itself cancels my buy out.

The imp is more better then the naughts are. The imps do alot of damage
