That's also why they say Roronoa Zoro, when his first name is Zoro. Meanwhile One Piece just does it as in Japan, surname first. That's how it sounds better and it's too iconic, so I'm glad the live action didn't change that even when it's not how it's done in majority of the world, nor where the show was made.
As well, there are some manga & anime set in Japan where the characters’ names are given name first & then family name last like My Hero Academia & Assassination Classroom.
The author said that there would never be romance between the crew members, but the crew members have romance outside the crew much later on, and it ends up fitting better than between them.
Zoro wasn't ready to die just bc of the promise, the thing is that he got carried on when he finally saw his goal right in front of him and didn't know the actual level of the man he was facing, he definitely thought he could win, so to have the title he asked for a duel *to the death* . So later seeing he can't against him, well, what's he going to do? Cancel the part of "to the death" just bc now he thinks he's the one that can die? He understands the gravity of the duel he asked for, he won't ask to change it, he won't run or beg forgiveness, he'll have honor and stand for his word. He was ready to kill him if he could, he can't, so he can't deny his opponent his death now, so knowing fighting he wouldn't get to anything, he stopped and offered his life with open arms. And it's all of this that made Mihawk respect him and see his potential, which leads him to let Zoro live.
50:13 I understand Lola's point (Mihawk literally beat Zoro with a "knife") but Milena is right, he only needs to replace the two that he lost, the white one is a very good sword
If you think that 1000 episodes are too many, you can try watching 80-100 episodes (HxH has 150-200 if I'm not mistaken) and from there I challenge you to see if you can stop watching it 😉😉 laughter, adventure, inexplicable emotions, it also has quite a bit "darkness", it is the best story ever told, everyone should see One Piece before they die.. xD
Actually, if they agree, they must watch until 129 (end of Alabasta), to make it fair. You have to take out some filler episodes, but 129 it's fair. Now honestly, they won't do it. Not because they think they won't like it, but because if they like it too much, they are not willing to invest 1000 videos to it when there are other series to watch. They would get stuck on one piece for many years.
@@xaviermm5506 Eventually the remake will turn the 1500 episodes of toei into less than 800, the whole east blue saga will be around 35-40 episodes max, that will be their opportunity
Yeah, a lot of us who have gotten into One Piece through the Live Action aren't resisting the idea of watching the anime because we're worried about not liking it. It's because we're worried we'll like it too much and it's a huge thing to ask people to dedicate the next however long of their life to watch it. It's a huge undertaking. It's why it's so rare to see Star Trek reactions on RUclips, for example. There's 701 episodes of that plus 10 movies, not including the animated series or modern stuff which put it up to around 900-ish. Despite being one of the most famous and popular franchises of all time, I know of only one channel that is currently trying to make the effort. Similar situation with Doctor Who, which has at least 875. I probably will watch along with the remake as it comes out if there's a good English dub for it. Otherwise I'll watch the live action until it finishes the six seasons they want to do, and then wait for the One Piece original anime to finish its run and the story to wrap up completely before I decide where to go next.
@@iuricunhamurakami8261 800? More like 300-400. The pacing is that bad. I assume they will go with around 3-4 chapters per episode. Which is normal pacing for anime.
Keep in mind, people in One Piece can be absolutely monstrous in their strength without a Devil Fruit. Mihawk is one of them. You’re able to train your body to reach these levels. You said Zoro hasn’t shown anything supernatural but thats due to it being a live action and toning things down. He shows plenty of his absurd strength by this point in the anime. Also, Oda has stated before nobody in the crew will be anything more than platonic but it was because of the chemistry that the two actors for Zoro and Nami had in the live action that Oda had to restate it again and make the people on the show SWEAR to follow the rule no matter how good the chemistry gets. Thats not to say they can’t end up falling in love with people outside the crew though….
OP fans are super nice, I think most of us are excited about the newcomers introduced to Oda’s world through the live action. That’s kind of why we’re here 😊
I really liked the female point of view you brought. The analysis you brought was mostly accurate, especially in the way you illuminated Nami. I liked very much. I also liked the analysis of Luffy's character. The part where you said that he throws what was done to him to the owner of the restaurant was simply excellent. Thanks.
I always enjoy your reactions, but especially loving these One Piece reactions! Awesome reactions to and analysis of the wholesome found family and backstories, and I’m really looking forward to some specific moments in the last three episodes!
If you are enjoying this, remember this is just a shadow of the real experience. I'm currently watching a reaction of the anime after seeing the live action and the reactors are blown away.
Thanks for another great reaction video! Seeing your reaction to Sanji and Zeff's relationship here, I'm super excited to see your reaction in the next episode! And I super love the chemistry between Zoro and Nami here too! Loved how they explored the dynamics between everyone in the crew so far. It's definitely one of my favourite episodes from the live action.
I don't want to crush your expectations, but don't expect romance between crewmates. The creator said in an interview that there won't be anything because they are like family.
I loved the live action so much, I started the anime. I’ve only ever liked basic anime’s like Dragon Ball, but it is legit one of the best shows of all time. I’m 260 episodes in and can’t wait to watch another 800+
It's good that there's no actual romance within the crew.........because I can ship everybody with anybody (romantic or platonic)😂😂😂😂 And besides... that's what fanfics are for!
Kuina's sword, now Zoro's, was said to be an amazing sword, so it's correct that he doesn't just keep it for nostalgia as it is also very useful. Mihawk's sword seems intimidating as it is bigger, but don't let size guide you in this world.
I don't understand why people say one piece is too long, just instead of watching a new show, watch the second arc and then the third. You don't need to binge one piece, just take slow and before you know it, you caught up. If people don't start watching it right now, they will miss their chance because as soon as it finishes, everyone on the internet will be talking about it. You won't be able to google the word "one piece" withought spoiling it for yourself
"I'm not going to watch a thousand episodes" If you did end up trying, you're not alone... a lot of react channels went on to binge the anime because of the live action
Fun fact: Ussop and Kaya never kiss in the anime/manga, that was added for the live action, as the conversations about if they're or not more than friends before their kiss.
So you are saying, that one of the warlords must be the parent of luffy. I must say I think the better One Piece Theorists out there will agree with you on that statement.
One of One Piece‘s greatest and probably most important themes are dreams or rather inherited dreams. Zoro is now carrying the dream of Kuina on his shoulder as well, and he’s willing to die to protect that goal/dream. Becoming #1 is more important than his life, so retreating is not an option. This is why i love Zoro
"Run from the marines? No Never" LMAO. Luffy hasn't read One Piece. "Does his grandpa knows he has this ability" He should know yes. In the flashback at the start of the episode, Luffy has his strawhat which means he already has the devil fruit. If you think about, Luffy wouldn't be able to hide the fact that he has a devil fruit more than 2 minutes. Especially if Garp trains him as he said, he would immediately notice Luffy is stretchy. So he knows for sure. "He's supernatural" Nothing he showed here is supernatural in the One Piece world. It's all raw strength and skill. He didn't use "powers" to cut the ship, he just swung his sword so hard it made a blade of air that cut the ship from 500m away.
For people, who are looking for Episode 6 and 7: They are still blocked because of Copyright. But JR Lombardi posted a video with the title "LM Reactions best moments | One Piece (Live Action)", which also includes Episode 6 and 7.
You guys actually touch upon a hilarious detail in that Luffy goes around saying his full name to everyone before exclaiming his goal to be King of the pirates, and it’s a big shock when it’s revealed Garp is his grandfather to the audience, but you learn his name is Monkey D. Garp and simply nobody in the story for hundreds of episodes ever went “hey are you related to the hero of the marines, the vice admiral with the same last name?”
ok lots to talk about here, think of shanks hat as a time stamp for luffy's flashbacks...if you see the hat luffy has powers and he isn't the type to hide it, people around him know the world of one piece is composed predominantly of small islands. not many if any continents garps full name is monkey d garp and he is a very famous hero of the marines. since luffy always announces his full name some people will make the connection...the family and surname thing follows the Japanese tradition you should rewatch the opening of the first episode and see who you can spot at Roger's execution
Remember guys this is an anime adaptation so when you say that Zoro is being very dramatic of course he is everything is over the top because anime’s are always over the top so the actor for Zoro is just playing the character to the best of his ability and he’s doing a great job along with the rest of the cast but yea Zoro had me cracking up when I watched this for the first time always so extra 😭
To be fair , that's not even Zoro's personality . They crammed in the edgy brooding swordman type , that we do see in a lot of anime , but while he can he stern , Zoro is a pretty jovial guy in manga and anime . You basically see him burst out in laughter multiple times in the 4 four episodes of the show , and troll kids later on . It's still a good version in the LA , especially visually .. but he's a whole different character there
@@ZarathosDaimaoh yeah Zoro is so much more goofy in the manga, i don't know why they made him so blank faced and edgy...Zoro is very cool but he's also pretty dumb lol same for Nami, she is a lot more smiley in the original, and she would have taken advantage of Sanji's simpiness immediately to get free food😅
@@bluelight17 i might be wrong , but it's not such a mystery why ... imo they picked teenage drama tropes and personalities from Hollywood shows . They went with what they know . Luckily the author and the books still got a massive influence , so it still kinda works out fine
@@ZarathosDaimaoh as a tv show it's fine, though i'm not a fan of how they handled some characters or their personalities. I think it's a netflix thing, i started watching the Atla cartoon after the LA, and in the cartoon the main trio is so much more interesting and fun than in the LA, especially Aang. At least OPLA still kept a lot of the fun feeling though.
I am guessing that grandpa was not around alot around luffy growing up, judging from his work as a high ranking marine, also shanks is a hero to luffy and shanks is a pirate, and as for grandpa not wanting luffy to be a pirate...... it is equivalent of telling your father (who is a military officer) "I want to be a terrorist when I grow up" , I don't think you need much more reason to be upset than that
You two don't have to worry about One Piece fans thinking you're not worthy of it or some other gatekeeping behaviour, from my understanding they are generally excited with new people getting into One Piece and very welcoming. What you do have to worry about is that some One Piece fans made their life's job to get others to watch the anime/read the manga, so you will constantly have to deal with them insistently asking you to watch the anime now.
Gotta remember that pirates , bare a few exception like the Strawhats are a bad thing lol . If your kid told you , i wanna be a drug lord , you usually would not take it kindly either
In the first episode, there were several characters at Gold Roger’s execution who have significant story roles later on; Shanks is one of them, Mihawk is another, and the others… will eventually be introduced. Another in the manga was Buggy, but I don’t recall seeing him in the live-action prologue although they might reveal it later? I’m guessing one of those shows where you shipped something that didn’t manifest was ATLA? Regardless… not that I blame you, in this show or any other; I have shipped what isn’t to be in many stories, likely will continue to until I die, and it’s just how we enjoy some things. In One Piece, Nami and Zoro have a lot of that dynamic so I understand liking it…
I know live-action doesn't make it clear, but it is actually Luffy who holds the crew together. It is important to note that people came together because of Luffy and got attracted to Luffy, not to each other. One more thing you missed and will understand later is that Luffy's emotional intelligence far surpasses anybody in the crew. This episode was an example of that because Luffy understood that for Zoro. his dream is more important than his own life. This is why Luffy allowed Zoro to fight alone and acted only after the duel was over. This is something even Nami did not really realize. Another important point- Luffy and Garp's flashback is after Luffy met Shanks as you can see Luffy has the strawhat.
“I think it would be fun if Luffy’s father was one of the 7 strongest ones.” Well… depending on what you want to include in defining “7 strongest” she’s not wrong
The episodes are a third of the length of the Live Action, so just citing the number of episodes doesnt really make sense. For example, Supernatural TV series has 327 40 minute episodes.. Its not all that different to 1000 18 minute episodes. Regardless, I dont see the difference in watching 1000 episodes of 10 different shows vs watching 1000 of 1 show. Either way you're watching 1000 episodes. One show you love is better than 10 shows of which some are hit or miss.
Yes, and One Piece anime have a really slow pacing. A descent episode supposed to adapting 3 chapters of the manga. So, this East Blue Saga with 96 chapters, can be done in 32 episodes. While the live action have third of the length, so it's around 24. Not much different.
Love seeing you girls are enjoying this show doesnt matter if you haven't watch the anime at least you enjoy the show. Mohawk is my second favorite swordsman cause Zoro is still my first favorite there fight was so good
Reminder to people commenting: saying things from the manga, anime, or what the writer of One Piece says, that is not in the live action series they are watching: you're spoiling. Please don't ruin people's joy.
1 Episode of One Piece actually 20mins because it had to account for commercials meaning you can watch 3 episode in an hour. Ignoring the filler you get ~600 episodes, meaning you can watch 1000+ One Piece episodes in ~6 months.
First of all, his name is Monkey D. Luffy, not Luffy D. Monkey. His family name is Monkey, Japanese style (like Roronoa Zoro- Family name Roronoa, given name is Zoro). Believe me, once you get to the end of the east blue arc (equivalent of live action season 1) a few hundred episodes will feel like *nothing*. Other reactors who haven’t seen one piece at all prior to the live action are already up past episode 150. They started the anime only a few months ago. You’ll go through it even more quickly if you’re not bound by a reaction schedule. I used to be caught up to around episode 580 something years ago, but then I watched the next 500 or so episodes in 4-5 months and am caught up as of a month ago.
Which is why it makes sense for them to say Luffy D. Monkey, because in English that's how you'd say it. If they're saying it that way despite him always introducing himself as Monkey D. Luffy they're just acknowledging that Monkey is his family name.
as an anime watcher i never shipped zoro and nami at all. but something about the live action made both of them have a romatic undertone and chemistry, so i really dont blame you for thinking that tbh
Each episode of the anime is really only 15 to 20 minutes long the rest of it is intro and recap so you can cover like four episodes in the amount of time you would take to watch one of these live action episodes
i think most people shy away from the anime and its now 1000+ episodes and that is more than reasonable lmao. for those people who do a good alternative would be to just read the manga, while still long (but worth it) youll get through it 3x faster than you would the anime
Don't worry, the team will have some Brat Tamers later on to support Nami. Also, Sanji is pretty responsible probably even more in the Live Action version.
I think most people wouldn't care if you won't watch the anime, as long as you like any iteration of it, be it the live action, then we're happy 😊 Besides, the series is just there somewhere in anime/manga or future remake form so you might pick up on it in someday. You might get bored one day and give the manga or anime a try. One piece fans are known for being patient --- if you take 20 years before trying the anime/manga, we wouldn't even mind. 'No' is not a 'never' and 'never' is not 'forever'.
Yup. I don't remember your name, but the blond woman would love One Piece. The themes are right up her alley. Sometimes, when she speaks, I think she would become such a super fan lol
Yeah they would find in One Piece a lot of what they enjoy in HxH . Sadly they are afraid of committing to that many episodes . if they get over that , it will be great , if not well at least they enjoy the inferior but still good LA .
@LM Reactions - "No one is watching a thousand episodes..." There´s literally DOZENS of RUclips channels that have been around for a year or two, and they have already watched ALL of One Piece, and are completely caught up (a bunch of other shows, as well).
Assuming the live action gets this far, I cannot wait until a certain father is introduced in whole cake island. The girls are gonna want to murder that guy 1000 times over. Now that I’m think about it, I would argue that the other parent introduced in whole cake is probably the best strawhat parent
It's cool to ship this Nami and this Zoro. The actors have exceptional chemistry in their scenes, and of course they are ridiculously attractive. Without the source material any TV show runner would work it into the plot over the long haul to give the audience a secondary plot point to root for over the long haul. Live action is different, and how the actors naturally interact can shape the way their relationship reads to the audience. So things change and shift and relationships come across differently. Zoro and Nami in live action reads immediately as from bickering pretty people to friends to lovers. Though they are unlikely to have any of that in this show. I mean look how Nami and Luffy have perfect big sister and little brother energy. That's not how I read their relationship in the anime, but it is totally that relationship in this show. Makes since with Emily being 9 years older, and a much more experienced actor.
2:00 One piece is litteraly #1 best-selling manga, along with other clasics. As for i, I watch it for free, but milions of people pay to read it. Believe it !
The creator of one piece did confirm he didn't have any intention to create romance between members of the crew, focusing instead on the profound friendship and respect they have for each other. However, there will be romance involving the crew with other characters every now and then. At least it was the case in the anime, depends if they will do the same for the live action.

@@benediktmathes2528 800 including every chapter until one piece ends
It is Monkey D. Luffy, Monkey D. Garp
They aren't wrong. Just used Western order instead of Japanese
Garp's full name is never said out loud in the live action.
@@killler240 I know, and I'm not saying lola and milena were wrong
It's all about that pirate life for these two ladies.
If you are enjoying this, remember this is just a shadow of the real experience. I'm currently watching a reaction of the anime after seeing the live action and the reactors are blown away.
Luffy's name is Monkey D Luffy in that order surname goes first also in the anime/manga Garp's full name is Monkey D Garp
there is romance! the arc is called romance dawn 😁
"We all know the one ship"
YES WE KNOW I'M GONNA CRY😭
What ship was she talking about Zuko/Katara?
The going Merry ship?
I’m 260 episodes in and can’t wait to watch another 800+
make sure to watch via one pace.
@@anirudhnatesan191honestly disagree with that, if you can experience the whole show, please do it
One Pace can be a good option for a re-watch
It's good that there's no actual romance within the crew.........because I can ship everybody with anybody (romantic or platonic)😂😂😂😂 And besides... that's what fanfics are for!
32:45 Luffy does not drink alcohol, so Zoro had no idea how to start a conversation
Kuina's sword, now Zoro's, was said to be an amazing sword, so it's correct that he doesn't just keep it for nostalgia as it is also very useful. Mihawk's sword seems intimidating as it is bigger, but don't let size guide you in this world.
I started the anime in the middle of last year, I'm already up to date. Those 1090 episodes fall short. waiting every Sunday to see one is torture
guys you can watch the remake when it comes out they say it is gonna be much shorter
i love how the discussion afterwards is longer than the reaction itself xD love you guys
No, variety and new things is always better! /s
"I'm not going to watch a thousand episodes"
If you did end up trying, you're not alone... a lot of react channels went on to binge the anime because of the live action
I see what you did there XD

Echoing other comments, I don’t think people care you haven’t watched the anime. I’m just glad you’re enjoying this story!
It sounds to me like you’re trying to convince yourselves you’re not gonna watch the anime….*whispers* join us, join us, join us, join us.
I promise, we're excited that this is the one piece you know and if you love it, THAT'S GREAT
One of One Piece‘s greatest and probably most important themes are dreams or rather inherited dreams. Zoro is now carrying the dream of Kuina on his shoulder as well, and he’s willing to die to protect that goal/dream. Becoming #1 is more important than his life, so retreating is not an option. This is why i love Zoro
I got through almost 30 episodes in a short time. The anime goes pretty fast
Luffy listening to others feelings is hilarious.
For people, who are looking for Episode 6 and 7: They are still blocked because of Copyright. But JR Lombardi posted a video with the title "LM Reactions best moments | One Piece (Live Action)", which also includes Episode 6 and 7.
Episode 5 is also available again. I'm so happy! :D
You can’t blame the grandpa for wanting his not to become a wanted criminal. He still has a wired sense of pride at how strong he is.
Garp is just known as Garp or the Hero Garp by the marines, he doesn't parade around his surname like Luffy does.
Nah we're always happy to get new people excited about the series. live action, manga, or anime.
ok lots to talk about here,
think of shanks hat as a time stamp for luffy's flashbacks...if you see the hat luffy has powers and he isn't the type to hide it, people around him know
the world of one piece is composed predominantly of small islands. not many if any continents
garps full name is monkey d garp and he is a very famous hero of the marines. since luffy always announces his full name some people will make the connection...the family and surname thing follows the Japanese tradition
you should rewatch the opening of the first episode and see who you can spot at Roger's execution
One Piece is the bible of the 21st Century and we want everyone to know the Word of Goda.
Perfect!!! Always waiting for your OP live action reaction ❤❤❤
You guys should check the new interview with the vampire series, so good!
I love sanji
Great episode. Im obsessed with this episode
The funny thing is in the anime, Luffy and Nami have more chemistry than Zoro and Nami.
"Nami you're the one with the most emotional intelligence"
I literally loled, everyone looks so much more immature around her don't they
LA anime or manga, all are welcome into our pirate cult :)
“I think it would be fun if Luffy’s father was one of the 7 strongest ones.” Well… depending on what you want to include in defining “7 strongest” she’s not wrong
That Zoro sword (His firend's sword) is actually one of the best sword that zoro still has in the anime with him.
I really love both of your reaction ❤
There will be a new animation that is going to have much less episodes, totally recomend waiting for that.
15:45 damn, Lola goes hard in the paint.
Yey, i was anxiously waiting for this
as an anime watcher i never shipped zoro and nami at all. but something about the live action made both of them have a romatic undertone and chemistry, so i really dont blame you for thinking that tbh
Yeah Zoro and Nami almost have anti-chemistry in the anime, they're just like bickering siblings.
Nami and Luffy on the other hand, I will ship ❤️
Nah I think ppl see friendship between a man and woman and feel the need to ship as if they can’t be just friends
“no one watching a thousands episodes” damn that disrespect😂😭😭😭
Each episode of the anime is really only 15 to 20 minutes long the rest of it is intro and recap so you can cover like four episodes in the amount of time you would take to watch one of these live action episodes
i think most people shy away from the anime and its now 1000+ episodes and that is more than reasonable lmao. for those people who do a good alternative would be to just read the manga, while still long (but worth it) youll get through it 3x faster than you would the anime
Don't worry, the team will have some Brat Tamers later on to support Nami. Also, Sanji is pretty responsible probably even more in the Live Action version.
9:00 I thought this was a pretty solid talk lol
actually, garp is monkey D garp, his paternal grandfather. even in the manga, nothing is known about his mother
@@ZarathosDaimaoh HxH is pretty good too ngl. I'm not caught up. I just started. I'm about to be in York New City
I like the personality of the girl on the left but the one on the right is…..
The creator said that, at least amongs the crew, he wont create any romantic tension because they must be considered as siblings.
They sure did Well with mihawk
But no, No one is watching 1000+ episodes. :))) Chill girls, i will bet that if you start One piece and u get past 100 episodes.. oh Lord, if you start watching you will cry about things you never thought you could cry about.
Maybe you should react One Piece breathtaking world
The fathers leave and the mothers die. That's how it goes in One Piece ^^`
Fun fact, Zoro has Zero sense of direction. He gets lost easily
You can watch the anime up to episode like 60 and that’s how far the live action went
