I just started playing bass earlier this year. I have played guitar off and on since I was 14 and got into Kiss and Peter Frampton. I have the Fender Rumble 25. It meets my needs for now. It's a simple amp. Volume, bass, treble, mid, with overdrive and contour buttons. I bought it at my local Guitar Center, brought it home, took it out of the box, plugged it in and I haven't had the volume any higher than at 9:00, a quarter of the way up or so. I also have one of those Vox Amplug headphone amps. I am on my 2nd one now. The first one broke. Cheers.
Dude, I watched this video having never seen you before and subscribed. I love your playing style and the way you talk straight to every point. Keep up the good work man!
Do you like the 112? I'm thinking of buying a used one. The only Bass Amp I have is a 25W Fender Rumble. I've always liked the looks of Ampeg but I don't care about looks if the amp doesn't sound good.
@@kevinbrianjohnsonmusic The RB112 is a great sounding amp. Very flexible tone circuit. It's light (34 lbs.) Since Yamaha took over, I think the quality has improved. Make sure the chassis screws are snug. Both the 108 and 112 had screws that were not properly tightened. I bought both amps new.
Intelligent review! Currently have an Ashdown Studio 8 and looking to upgrade and was thinking Rumble 100 or RB 110. Your thoughts here on the SGT were informative as I believe like the Rumble the overdrive is the same across all models. Basically whatever the make it seems you are only paying for watts by moving up!
I use an rb110 in my studio and rb115 live. LOUD w/ TONE. If you want really loud and light the new rumble 210 neo is 28 lbs and 400 wats to internal speakers. It just doesn't sound like an Ampeg ;-)
I love the Rumble amps! They really started the whole lightweight/affordable combo bass amp generation. Wish they were around when I was actively on the road. You are correct, though. Ampeg has a sound that just hard to beat! I toured with a 1970 SVT and a 1980 SVT II. I quickly decided to park them in the studio and got the first release of the SVT 3 Pro. It was amazing. It was stolen in a studio robbery but I got another one to replace it and I still have it today.
I own a custom modded RB115. In stock form I hear what you are saying. But with the right backing magnets, port mods and cabinet damping. It transforms into growling, snarling BEAST. & WMD. Weapon of Mass Distortion. She has a name. The ....stank face eargasmotron accumulator. She's multi eargasmic and she ROCKS! Its MY practice amp. & She knows how to make daddy VERY happy. 😎
Thanks for this. Like your honesty and review style. Currently looking downsizing as can’t lift lumps any more. I want practice amp but still want bottom end whoomph shake the room every now and then. This and the mark 801 are what I’m considering.
Thanks! The Mark Bass stuff is superior when comparing the 2 particular lines, in my opinion, but for the savings, it's hard to beat Rocket Bass or even the Rumble Series.
I agree with acoustic also but all of their stuff has disappeared here in the US as well. For a while, they had a thing going with Guitar Center but that appears to be over. It's too bad because I really liked their stuff and was actually going to buy a B100C but decided to wait. A year or so later, I started hearing mixed reviews but I still liked the sound of those amps.
@@progrockjock dont mean to go on but re small speakers and mark bass. I’ve never been sold on this Phil jones and Markbass small speaker thing but I wonder if technology has improved . I’ve always believed it’s down to size of cabinet for good bass sound but it seems designed has improved on that front also. Am looking at ampeg but also more affordable markbass black line but the 801 keeps dancing in my mind super light and the speaker although 8 inch has 200 watt margin. I use lots effects , downtune sometimes and play lots of drone string style so with that margin I think it may handle it. Sorry to go on but you’ve touched a nerve as been researching this lately.
I am looking to downsize. My 1970 810 is a lug to carry around and move around. Was considering getting rid of my darkglass microtubes 500 head and getting the RB 210. After hearing you play on this 110 I feel confident in doing so. Great video man. Thanks
@@progrockjock I had the 900 for a while, it was great. For financial reasons I sold it. Went to the terror bass 500 for a bit and the. Back to the Darkglass 500 and been there since.
Thank you! If you really want to stick with Ampeg, go with the RB-112. Otherwise, I'd go with the Acoustic B50C or the B100C. Both of these amps really impressed me and they're very versatile. Great overdrive too! I posted a video for the RB-112 and have videos for the Acoustic and MarkBass 1x12 on the way.
Short answer: No. Long answer: I returned the 10, so that I could try the 12” but Guitar Center didn’t have it in stock at the time, so decided to revisit at a later date. I ended up trying the acoustic 10” and liked it much better, but once again, the 12” version wasn’t in stock at GC. I borrows a friend’s MarkBass 1x12 and was really impressed but honestly, I liked the sound of the acoustic and the ampeg better overall. I already have 2 ampeg amps, so this is why my final answer would be to go acoustic.
Thank you very much for your words! I LOVE Anthrax! I've seen them several times and met Scott Ian by accident just before playing a show in New York. I will be talking about them on this channel in the future.
Have you tried the Fender Rumble Series? They're even lighter to carry and I honestly think they sound better.I haven't tried the BA 108 but I did tryout the BA-110 and I liked it. The RB 110 might feel like a step up to you because it has that classic "ampeg" sound, but the volume just wasn't there for me, so I returned it. Rocket Bass Series is the better way to go if you care about the weight of the combo amp but if you can get a great deal on a BA, go for it.

If the 10 is ported and the 8 is not that may be the reason for some of the weight
