    Intelligent review! Currently have an Ashdown Studio 8 and looking to upgrade and was thinking Rumble 100 or RB 110. Your thoughts here on the SGT were informative as I believe like the Rumble the overdrive is the same across all models. Basically whatever the make it seems you are only paying for watts by moving up!

      I agree with acoustic also but all of their stuff has disappeared here in the US as well. For a while, they had a thing going with Guitar Center but that appears to be over. It's too bad because I really liked their stuff and was actually going to buy a B100C but decided to wait. A year or so later, I started hearing mixed reviews but I still liked the sound of those amps.

      @@progrockjock dont mean to go on but re small speakers and mark bass. I’ve never been sold on this Phil jones and Markbass small speaker thing but I wonder if technology has improved . I’ve always believed it’s down to size of cabinet for good bass sound but it seems designed has improved on that front also. Am looking at ampeg but also more affordable markbass black line but the 801 keeps dancing in my mind super light and the speaker although 8 inch has 200 watt margin. I use lots effects , downtune sometimes and play lots of drone string style so with that margin I think it may handle it. Sorry to go on but you’ve touched a nerve as been researching this lately.

    I use an rb110 in my studio and rb115 live. LOUD w/ TONE. If you want really loud and light the new rumble 210 neo is 28 lbs and 400 wats to internal speakers. It just doesn't sound like an Ampeg ;-)

      I love the Rumble amps! They really started the whole lightweight/affordable combo bass amp generation. Wish they were around when I was actively on the road. You are correct, though. Ampeg has a sound that just hard to beat! I toured with a 1970 SVT and a 1980 SVT II. I quickly decided to park them in the studio and got the first release of the SVT 3 Pro. It was amazing. It was stolen in a studio robbery but I got another one to replace it and I still have it today.

      @progrockjock  3 года назад

      @@JVMC_ZR1 Understood. I sincerely appreciate the advice. I'm mainly looking for something to play without a band. It would be nice to have a light-weight, super-load bass amp, but other than a MarkBass rig, this doesn't seem feasible. I failed to mention in this video that I used to play and old SWR head through a pair of 2x10 cabinets back in the mid 1990s. That rig was fine in a 3-piece band but the moment another guitarist shows up, it's not enough, so I sold it all. I also currently have the SVT-2, the SVT3 Pro and an ampeg 1x15 cabinet along with the TCE BG500 seen in the video, so I'm covered if I have to put a couple of guitarists in check😉 I sold my 1973 SVT to a old punk bassist who was in Atlanta recording back in 2018. A little before that, I foolishly sold my 8x10 Ampeg cabinet to some music store for $250! But anyway, I don't miss it too much because as time went on, it became a chore to move it around.

    So did you end up keeping the 10” or did you get the 12? Or did you end up going in a different direction?

    • @progrockjock
      @progrockjock  2 года назад +1

      Short answer: No. Long answer: I returned the 10, so that I could try the 12” but Guitar Center didn’t have it in stock at the time, so decided to revisit at a later date. I ended up trying the acoustic 10” and liked it much better, but once again, the 12” version wasn’t in stock at GC. I borrows a friend’s MarkBass 1x12 and was really impressed but honestly, I liked the sound of the acoustic and the ampeg better overall. I already have 2 ampeg amps, so this is why my final answer would be to go acoustic.
