To be completely honest, this install was one major PITA, but I eventually got it done. You're going to need some extra patience and this video to help you out. Great video, I used it to coach me along the way.

That 10mm to 8mm change on the nut sizes used was super ultra, mega, extremely, pointlessly ridiculous. Especially when you're considering needing deep sockets. Gawd damn
I just used the factory 10mm nuts.
Glad I hadn't gone out to grab an 8mm deep socket 3/8" drive. I just saw towards the end, that you checked the threads. Than you for that! @@infosponge
I have mine ordered from Tacoma Lifestyle- my light was replaced for the recall but it’s cracked all to hell and what do you know, water stains on my headliner

They work well, just don't overtighten the bolts.
Just as a heads up I returned this third brake light as the female port for the power was the incorrect size. I have a 2023 Tacoma Sport and the male connector would not lock which caused the light to flutter. Maybe Toyota changed the size but I now have been thru 2 lights from 2 different vendors and waiting on a third. Any help would be appreciated.
My truck is a 2016. I’m not sure if it changed. Did you try posting the question on one of the forums?
