These family mausoleums are awesome! I wonder, after a year and a day, when the remains are put in a burlap bag, is the bag tagged with the name, and dates of birth and death of the deceased? Great walking tour, thank you very much Tony. Have a great day. 😊
Beautiful cemetery. I didn't want to be cooked then scrapped to the back. That's why I want cremated. Very interesting like all you videos. Love them. And hi from the uk 🇬🇧
another reason why they can't do underground burials is during flooding events, like hurricanes, the interred body will come back up to the surface. I'm thinking the bricked-up cubbies for the mausoleum is problem a precaution against that too. I went to Galveston, TX a couple years back and noticed the cemeteries there did the same thing.
Tony, one of my absolute favorite places simply because of all the history, culture, and stories. Thanks for this amazing opportunity. I'm sure as many times as I've been to New Orleans I've never yet got to visit any cemetery there, this was very special and enjoyed getting to really see it.
Entiendo, que los acuíferos están muy cerca de la superficie; por que los entierros son más superficiales y así se evita la contaminación de cursos de agua dulce para consumo de la población.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans does not allow filming in that cemetery except for educational films and preapproved documentaries. This is because scenes for the movies Easy Rider (1969) and Cincinnati Kid (1965) were filmed at the cemetery unauthorized
It made me wonder when you showed the key hole, who holds the keys to these mausoleums? They must be lost all the time, and the keeper of the key eventually dies too. Just random thoughts 💭
There has to be an awful smell i would think lol, Thank you enjoyed this one
I'm not sure I would have the stomach to open that after a year to see what's going on.
Very beautiful and tidy cemetery. Thank you muchly for sharing Tony. 👍👏👏👏

A very efficient use of space if you think about it. Makes you wonder where the term "you're just as bag of bones" came from.
Yes, that particular grave can be used over and over. And that term very well may of came from there.

Being buried in any of the New Orleans cemeteries to me, is the pits.
N.O. is below sea level. Alot of damage from hurricanes. Sad😢 But they have great food and nice people😊
Gosh so sad and interesting thank you for sharing with us love your channel ❤
Thanks for watching!
@ 3:41 I hear tapping!! ✌🏼😊
Seems like I have already watched this video/cemetery on your channel before
There are times where I may do a compilation type thing.
Very very cool Tony ty very much

My pleasure!
Oven crypt is an apt name for these.
Pizza oven . Morbid , but they are with their loved ones
Yep, that’s how the tour guide described it.

Wow ❤
Lovely tour🪦💐🏛
Always wanted to go here thank you for sharing
Interesting on how they add more bodies to a moseleum.
So the body is put in there with no box or bag?😮
From what I was told the casket is discarded after
What was the reason they gave you for not allowing video but allowing only pictures in that other cemetery?
The Archdiocese of New Orleans does not allow filming in that cemetery except for educational films and preapproved documentaries. This is because scenes for the movies Easy Rider (1969) and Cincinnati Kid (1965) were filmed at the cemetery unauthorized
Interesting thanks for the info

I can only speak for California, but I’ve been told out here. Cemetery management has keys and the family has keys.
@@CryptDoor Ah! That would make sense. Thanks Tony.
Sadly, NOLA is an aging relic.
Crazy thing is, I only had one day to film. There were so many other cemeteries that were more decrepit that I wasn’t able to go to.
