I'm impressed that he knew about the Arkansas State deal and many more details that I didn't know about. For many years after we joined the Sunbelt, ASU still complained about the travel. They see themselves as a Southern team and they see us as more Southwestern in nature. IMO, the biggest thing to learn about this 40-something year journey in Division I is that TXST's athletic history is all about building nice facilities, but under budgeting the sports themselves. Hopefully that's changed.

The most frustrating part of the stadium fiasco on the CFB game is that they got it 99% right on the last game. They had the "home" side on the wrong side though last go around.
It might not be a big deal to recruits overall but I'd hate for people's perception of our stadium to be that half stadium when it obviously isn't that. Idk, maybe some recruits could get turned off by it. Maybe they get some interest from GJ and then decide to boot up the game and think "ehh, I aint tryna play in that tiny stadium". Maybe its a complete non issue? We'll see

Havent got to listen to the whole episode yet but I think Tarleton the last decade would be a very fitting comparison to TXST in the early 80s.
They didnt have the on the field success that we did but they too got rejected by the Southland multiple times when trying to move up. Luckily for them the WAC was desperate so they got the invite. The funny part is that their fans were so butthurt over all the rejection that ever since they've joined they've constantly talked shit about the SLC and how Tarleton is too good for them now but now that the WAC is falling apart they might once again be left out in the cold by the SLC lol.
