    I've never been fond of the idea of sewing each toe individually, same with fingers with puffier handpaws, but I think it's a labour that will turn out for the better in the end!! A day or two of painstakingly sewing toes for a lifetime of good looking hand and footpaws that are durable and comfortable too, I think it's worth it in the end; as sewing isn't even bad at all and is even enjoyable when you're watching a video or listening to music in the process! I'm also enjoying your choice of music for this, it's not at all often I keep my volume on for how-to videos; I worry about patterning things right, but aside from that I think my skill is up there in being ready to make something like this and I have the materials too!

    • @freckledcatcreations
      @freckledcatcreations  2 года назад +12

      1. I agree, I think sewing the fingers of handpaws is my LEAST favorite part of the process.... with feetpaws at least it's large enough I can sew with my machine and do it faster. lol.
      2. I'm so glad you like the music! i'm the same way, I ALWAYS turn the music off when watching others' videos because I dont like the music choice, always so loud and hyper lol. glad you like my more relaxing soft stuff. :)
      3. patternmaking is a complex skill itself! if you keep working at it your brain will eventually understand the minutiae !

  • @SmoulderDrache

    Instead of polymer clay, monster clay would be better for making mockups. It doesn't need to be baked, you heat it up either in the microwave or with a heat gun to sculpt with it and once you're done you can just reheat it to reuse it! It will save you on clay

    I probably won't ever make proper sockpaws, but giant floofy slippers are absolutely on my list! A question: when you glue the sock to the bottom pad, does it have to be hot glue or would something else work, say contact adhesive (F2/E6000)?

    • @freckledcatcreations
      @freckledcatcreations  Год назад +1

      I think you could do a contact adhesive! if you were worried about feeling the beads of hot glue under your foot tho, that's actually why I also added the thin layer of flex foam under the boot, so that there's foam between your foot and the hot glue! I don't feel it at all myself.

    • @freckledcatcreations
      @freckledcatcreations  2 года назад +1

      Because the 1" upholstery foam it's glued to is not glued to the fur backing, you can pull it out! though I would worry about the stuffing moving around now that the liner isn't there to keep it in place, and if you put the liner back in the stuffing might end up in thewrong places/ stuck under the 1" foam rather than in the toes. it's something you gotta deal with if you make all sewn up feet like this! i do also make my removable shoe feetpaws with zippers to take the stuffing out for easier washing.

      Honestly I'm not sure why people don't use it! a reason people use fleece/minky/bias tape is to cover and protect the raw fur edge, but yea nobody really adds elastic inside the cuff. The feet do stay up pretty fine tho! the leg openings here came out a little bigger than I wanted but theyre still ok.

    So I tried making puffy paws from mugiara cosplay and imma just say I give it 40% good success rate because I can’t complete the project because I still don’t understand how she does it like sew them together on the sewing machine and my heavy duty singer kept messing up an I literally 😤have to keep using my seem ripper to un strand it 😭 I can’t put these paws together I made I need help I don’t understand why they won’t fit together they are the right size only messed up the fur direction, that’s all , life doesn’t love me but at least god keeps giving me blessings and new beginnings 🙂

      sad to hear! just take your time next time when youre tracing the patterns - make sure the fur is facing the correct way! fur flows to the fingertips. as for messing up on the sewing machine - it sounds like you might need to hand sew them! use a blanket stitch or back stitch. check out my hand sewing video if you need help!

      @@freckledcatcreations thanks so much and I only have 2 hand sewing knowledges I can do ladder stitch and uh the stitch when you loop it and the type of thread that I am using if from Walmart it’s a color thread that’s very good 😌 nice an bit tough to break and it can’t be taken out easily so it needs a seem ripper if something happens

      The hand paws I made still look good and on my heavy duty singer sewing machine I guess I could only see the paw pads on and it doesn’t allow me to finish sewing them together and I did think about that do I need to shave the edges of hand paws all around these mittens lol so my machine won’t screw it

      Trust me- I’ve wanted to make fursuits for years but really only JUST started getting the chance to do so. It takes time to get everything needed.
      Some small alternatives though!!
      -SOME, and it’s not super common, but SOME libraries actually offer public use sewing machines. I’d recommend checking the site of your local library, although it’s far more common in nicer or bigger cities.
      - take your time and try your best to save up for nicer fur- trust me, even if it’s cheaper, craft store fur isn’t worth it. It feels very fakey and not soft at all. If you don’t mind it being a bit rougher though then I’d say it’s okay. I’d reccomend howl fabrics personally but there are a lot of other sites! (You can also get nice fur second-hand, this is just usually riskier or in scraps.)
      -Some craft stores offer clay and foam for relatively cheap! You can also check Amazon to try to get deals.
      -foil can just be found in most grocery stores
