Thank you very much for this wonderful video which is very easy to understand. You are a very gifted teacher and the video is superbly produced. I am very grateful for this information. Best wishes.
Other side of the plastic part broke due to being old and brittle . Do you know if they sell the other end of the sensor cable and how hard it would be to hook up? Or do you recommend just brake the remaining plastic part and solder wires together and tape it to lock into the plastic cabinet?
Thanks, I was trying to confirm the orientation and this helped. But I do have a comment, the reason your original wear sensor was faulty was because it was plugged in wrong. Look at your video at 1:15 , if you look closely and then compare it with 6:19 when you plugged in the new sensor correctly, you see that the original was in backwards.
I don't think so. Previous sensor was installed correctly. You can see this when I pull it out. It had bad wires so the ECU detected it as "triggered" and that's why the light was on.
Brilliant. Trying to keep Zen and continuing the art of BMW maintenance.
It's encouraging to see that people have working E46s with even higher mileage than mine.

I chuckled when you said that maybe nipple is a bad word. Here in Canada it is not. Thanks for the video. I am doing this job today

Wat type of brake pad for the 3 series e46 320i???
I use Ate brake pads.
so if i were to just permanently keep the wires soldered together on the sensor, I would never have the brake light issue?
Yes
