Congratulations to everyone in this contest and everyone else who lived with them while they got this good! It doesn't happen by accident.
Thanks to the Festival and TAS for putting this where we can see and hear it.
They're all good' good enough to play with any top BG band out there.
My favorite would be Steven.
Love watching the talented musicians; they're all great. One suggestion: Have all the goodies in a bag for each of the winners, explain what's in the bag, then hand them the bag...
Big ups to all the performers, personally really enjoyed Gregg Welty's performance and Stephen Moore's Django homage.
#3 is an ENTERTAINER !
Woohoo! Here we go! 😃👍🏻
what an absolute pleasure to watch these fantastic musicians. congrats to all.
You have all achieved something special. You were in a competition amongst the best in your country. Wow! The biggest impact will be in your confidence and realization that you "can do"!
Anthony howell made me wanna pick up the banjo. It was so Melodic!
Owen Brockman is insane on that banjo! I've been playing almost 30 years - that kid is unreal! Dang. Lol
Appalachian Ohio 🎸 Yay!! Good to see a third place winner from this neck of the woods
He has won first 2 times.. 2008 and 2015.
Sorry folks, but I think Steven Moore deserved to win it. His playing was so much cleaner than the rest. It doesn't matter how fast or fancy you play if you can't pull it off cleanly. Great job Steven. (and NO, I've never met Steven)
Greg has a neat style
Anthony, was the clear winner. First time I ever heard Puff The Magic Dragon on banjo, it took ainute to place he name it's been so many years. Congrats and keep on picking.
Over the rainbow?
@@catfishpatentboy I believe he played Puff the Magic Dragon. The progression is a bit similar to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, however.
Yes it was Puff The Magic Dragon. I had thought about doing it for the actual contest in the past, but I feared the judges may not like it, so I never worked it up for the actually competition. Glad you enjoyed my portion!
steven shoulda won!! great stuff though
I worked for Janet and Greg at Deering they are awesome people I was blessed to have met them !!!! Banjos rule especially a Deering! 🪕
