Record Breaking Field Competes in the AFCTO Collegiate Bass Open on Lake Dardanelle

Day 1 of the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open
The AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open is the second stop of the season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. A record breaking field of close to 500 anglers have travelled to Russellville, AR to compete in this no-entry-fee event on Lake Dardanelle. The full field is set to compete for two full days, vying to earn their share of the more than $20,000 in prizes and contingencies up for grabs, as well as double points to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.
The event is being contested during the fall of the year on this Arkansas River fishery. A major cold front is pushing through the area, bringing with it cooler temperatures and gusting winds. Both of these factors will impact how the fish set up and bite throughout the tournament. The field of nearly 250 elite teams will be able to catch bass all across the vast fishery, targeting various types of cover, including wood, grass, and rocks.
