1st story: NTA. I think OP handled this incredibly well. I'm glad she cut out all her fake friends.
I'd have message the other woman to let her know he's been in a relationship for 3 years. Just incase he's been lying to her as well. If she didn't believe me I'd tell her she was free to ask his family. If she says she did know I'd ask her "Did he use the same 'I like her but I love you' line that he used on me when he was begging me not to leave when I found out about you?" Because he probably did. Then I'd block her before she could respond to let it eat away at her ego because I'm petty like that.

Sophia said she doesn't think the fiance loved op at all in the first story. I think that's one of the problems with the religious beliefs of waiting until your married. Because a lot of young religious people get married just so they can do the deed.

    • @TkO.Always

I agree. I also think it causes emotional connection issues. Sex doesn't have to be a bad thing, it's supposed to be meaningful. There's a reason why ppl believe you can't just stay FWB, at some point, someone is going to catch feelings. Bc sex is something I think bonds you together, meshes your souls in some way. There's a deeper connection that's missing if you wait until after you're married. & what happens if your souls don't mesh? You're already married & a lot of religions frown upon divorce.

Let’s say one of the two has a disease and is unable to have intimacy for 2 years. A bond created with sec will break. A bond that waited for this special moment will last. For women, yes sex is maybe more emotional, but for men… there are studies showing that men seeing women dressing in non moderate clothes as objects…

You don't have to give people any money. If you put in the will that you don't want them to inherit anything, then they can't contest the will. One lawyer said that everyone who gets money has to sign off on the will before it is probated. If someone is only inheriting $1, then they can just not sign off on the will and it'll be that much harder for the will to be probated.

I used to help her dad out with like yard work, or lifting heavy things around the house, and although her mom was very short with people, we did used to joke around, talk, and ultimately I guess we were pretty friendly with each other.

I think that the fairest way to measure this would be to calculate what percentage of the total home price the parents are covering and then, when inheritance is ready to be disbursed, it gets divided in three and sibling A’s portion would be less the dollar amount of whatever percentage of the total home the parents paid for and that amount gets split between the siblings.

HE said eff that & sent it (money) to my mom, who gave me & my siblings equal amounts as a Christmas present in cash (best gift ever). We weren't allowed to spend it on anyone or anything but ourselves, so not our kids spouses and bills. That 500k inheritance story is so sad. Having too much starting capital can be its own problem - it caused OP to overinvest without having worked anything out, multiplying OP's losses. Honestly, with an inheritance like that, the best thing to do is probably get you 'needs' taken care of - get your home paid off, get your retirement account set out... have that nice security that'll let you do whatever you want. That way the money doesn't get burned and you can pursue your dreams with that 'safety net' of knowing you're fine whatever happens.

  • @BlueBranchPottery
    @BlueBranchPottery 6 месяцев назад +1

You can also do the math for how much the property was vs the amount given, find how much the percentage of money given is when the entire inheritance is split and give the one with the house 1/3 less than the difference. 👌

The inheritance "math" post is really simple. IT'S THE PARENT'S MONEY! The money doesn't belong to A, B or C at all until their parent die. It's none of their business to whom the parents give money to while they're alive. It's theirs to used, loan, give away or burn. They get the left overs. The parents could made some adjustments to the will IF THEY WANT TO to roughly adjust for the gift, but trying to adjust for inflation etc is simply stupid.

For Riley's question if anyone has ever cut their family out to keep the significant other; yep! My cousin Anita started to starve and abuse her son when her husband Joe was at work. Nobody wanted to believe the signs or Joe at first I guess, cus it went on for a month or so even after Joe left her and started to prepare to battle for custody. But when the son( he was somewhere between 3-6 I'm not exactly sure this was 10+ years ago) showed up skinny and bruising to her mom/my aunts house one day when Anita went to visit, her own family called child protective services and exposed her on Facebook and helped Joe get custody. Our family still keeps in touch with him; tho we don't really have get togethers anymore but we'd for sure invite him if we did. He's a really good dude, he was also being emotionally and verbally abused by my cousin. I don't think anyone speaks to her anymore, except her sister, but her sister does hold her accountable and isn't easy on her. She mostly just checks in to see if she's still alive.

For anyone wondering; yes she hurt their son to hurt Joe. But the thing is Joe was totally in love with her at first. I understand bickering about things not being fair, ultimately, it’s a parent’s choice what they want to do with their money and assets. If the bickering continues, they might risk losing an inheritance entirely. If my kids were more concerned with money than each other, I might give it all to charity. “If you can’t play nice, nobody gets it.”
I’ve seen plenty of situations where it can seem unfair from a dollar perspective, but it doesn’t when you think about the context. I’d rather give my farmstead to a family member who will farm it. I would rather give a family heirloom to someone who actually wants it for the sentimental value.

I listen to y'all everyday and it helps me decompress during my 1 hour commute to work, my lunch break, and my drive home. I even sometimes cook and clean listening to and laugh when y'all do the "Divorce! Divorce!" chant and the conspiracy tin foil hats (btw my parents are divorced and remarried and there is so much 🍵 ☕️🫖 !)
When y'all call do you use the voicemail number? Because I want to recognize and not block it as spam.

1:02:19 no they can still contest it. It’s just going to be a extremely difficult battle to win. My mom just went through almost a three-year long battle with her sisters over my grandpa’s Will. He left my Mom everything his house, his land, his stops his money everything and then he left my aunt and my uncle $100 each. Two of my aunts were extremely angry about it and went to court to fight it and lost.

The inheritance thing, technically they should only look at it as 200k value. Aaron is the one who now has to finish paying the house off, property taxes etc. the parents are assuming their money generates all that value despite not paying future taxes etc. so really only diminish Aaron’s inheritance by 200k. I think the 200k is the down payment not the whole cost especially since post covid prices. So the rest gotta be paid for by Aaron including the maintenance etc. it’s not fair or logical to try and say well in future dollars it equates to 450k. Really? What if you die the day after cutting the cheque. What if real estate goes down. What if Aaron has to sell the house to pay for large medical bills etc. this is conscidered early inheritance so its value is 200k. Only. If they don’t want to give early inheritance that’s their right and their money. If they do then it’s valued at today’s dollars only because anything from that point on is Aaron’s responsibility and efforts. It’s like they m8stake themselves investing in shares of a company. They aren’t. It’s a one time cash amount living inheritance. Stop trying to Nichol and dime the kids. Either 200k living inheritance or nothing don’t play games on the kid. They could do a joint venture purchase of the house with a buy back agreement for the kid on a payment schedule. That way they can write off some expenses against their business income.

What A should do with the inheritance debacles it to agree to pay the parents back the $200,000 over time making it a loan and not an advance on his inheritance and any amount that is not paid off when the parents pass comes out of his portion of the inheritance. That might be enough to satisfy B and C

    • @Raraking4796
      @Raraking4796 7 месяцев назад

I was wondering this but 58:17 I don’t know if they would do a loan because it sounds like the 200,000 grand is to lower the amount of Aaron’s mortgage. He’s still going to have a monthly mortgage payment. If he pays his parents and the mortgage than that might be equal to or more than what he would be paying monthly without help from the parents. I could be wrong but that’s the way I understood the story.

@@Raraking4796 Yeah but over time dosen't mean like they have to give back every month they can give little amount ever few months and with time give more, etc, or even start year later or so when they are more stable...
For me easier would be give him this money and then set asiad the same amout for rest kids, then when the B and C kid get their 200.000, rest money would be simply go to 3 like normally would...
Bc in the end the money is parents money and they can do what they want, and they aren't going anywere yet, I honestly don't understand thinking about will that fast, and I don't mean like ignore it, no it is good to have plans etc, but In this case children A asked for help and this person thinking is if we help how will will look like, not even we want to help or we really can't, bc 'reasons', but first thinking is how inheritence be like if they help.
I know people want to be fair but sometimes you can and sometimes you can't...
Ehh I don't like this topić in general.
Especially I don't like when kids think about how much they will get in the will from parends when they have still 1/3 life to live, and then what if patents give it away or use it to have great years and there is nothing then what you are angry (?). Bc in the end It is their money they worked for they don't need to leave you anything. It is weird for my to think about it, as person that might get something, why even think about things that aren't sure and far in future. If you get something be happy, but don't think before how much there will be... Like in second story you may not get a dime.

Giving the first sibling the money now is a horrible idea, that completely tanks the amount that could be in there after growing for the proper amount of years.
It benefits sibling A, and only sibling A plus is at the EXPENSE of the other siblings, by giving them a house that will keep gaining interest value.
The only way this would be fair is if sibling A pays out the margins over time to Sibling B and C.
But if anything happened to Sibling A's ability to make money and pay the siblings, they're fcked.
Estate wise speaking, it's a horrible idea. It's not my money though, people make horrible money decisions every day, and nobody stops them 🤷‍♀️

All those inheritance post trigger me, just tell your parents to eat up THEIR money. Us kids did not work for it and we are not entitled to any of it. Its not a matter of being fair, if the parents want to give money to one of their kids to help them out the others shouldn't be keeping score, when the others need it probably the parents will help... but the entitlement!!

    Last story
I'm just confused on why they have to give $200,000 "to make the mortgage payment manageable"... like you NEED and 2 million dollar home??? Fuckin downsize!!
Then you said the parents are going to "watch them struggle"?? No they only want to move for a school district. Like save up over time and move schools later. This is so NOT a real world problem....

That's story with the siblings is really easy.... Sibling Gets help now but it's a loan! Negates a lot of taxes and the repayment is put towards the money owned. Principle sufficient. Sibline B and C need to stop looking at their parents as cash cows. They will be supporting their kids while alive!

The fuck? Are her "friends" his friends too? Nah... fuck the friends. I'm glad his family is enamored with her but its on the ex to get back in his Grandma's good graces for apparently losing a good thing (her). The pressure is not on her. It shows he must not have much of a relationship with her for her to take such a drastic measure. I like that Grandma feels that so intensely though that she feels that should add her to the will.
