Phantom has killed more drum majors than any corps in DCI history
its not a phantom show until the drum major gets yeeted
I feel so lucky to have been at Finals in '08! My friends and I decided to go at the last minute.
Same here. On vacation in Washington DC and would be taking the weekend to drive back to St. Louis. Realized that if we hustled, we could be in Bloomington on Saturday night. No single drum corps moment will ever top it.
Wise Decision
I was there in the audience in 08. People lost their minds when Phantom won. I saw this show early season in cali and knew it was special. Ill never forget that summer and specifically this finals night. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
As an aside... regardiing the electric atmosphere, I don't think it's a coincidence that this was the last finals outdoor. The level of audience engagement from beginning (pre beginning) to end (post-end) was truly phenomenal.
I was born in 2008 around the same time this show was preformed and I feel like that’s the coolest thing to tell
This is crazy - I was directed to watch the 2008 performance only YESTERDAY (first show I’ve ever watched) and loved it. It bought me to tears! Now this pops up today and I’m able to hear this great commentary. Cheers from New Zealand!
For me, the post show shot of the contra player with all the sweat on his head and face is what it's all about for the majority of mm for any corps after a great performance.
This is my absolute favorite show ever... and I have been a fan of DCI since the early 70's during the Blue Devils - Santa Clara Vanguard battle days... The Phantom Regiment is the CLASS Corp of DCI.
Truest this is the best show I’ve ever seen in my 12 years in marching band world it is bar none the best
I was in the theater for quarterfinals and when they finished I texted my friend who was in Bloomington and said "If they don't win something is terribly wrong".
I thought the 81/82 shows were decades ahead of their time, and was so happy to see it rebutted in 2008
This was so cool to get everyone's insight and behind the scenes stories on this incredible show. I'd love to see one on Cavaliers first World Championship win from '92. I still get goosebumps watching the awards ceremony and hearing them announce "THE CAVALIERS" in 1st place.
This was the first show I ever showed to my daughter, who was 5 at the time, and she now has a number of shows that she goes back and watches, but none more than this one!
My favorite show!
I just recently watched this show on YT, and gasped out loud when Kelly fell and her head BOUNCED OFF THE GROUND. Or looked like it did. It was very convincing, if it really didn't smack as hard as it looked.
Congratulations guys
これほんと好き
I wish I could have seen this show live back in 2008. Spartacus ‘08 was absolutely fantastic! Like many others, it was the first DCI show I ever saw. I couldn’t join though because I was just beginning on trumpet from clarinet/bass clarinet, but I’d definitely tell my past self to dedicate more time to trumpet so I could have joined a corps.
I cannot believe he addressed Adam Sage as colorguard instructor. Adam is a legend!
This is great! Who disliked this?!
Sky Ryders ‘93, Tony Hall
Had Nick Scotella for four years as my high school marching band’s assistant band director and drill designer. Fantastic drill designs, but to be honest he’s a bit of a nightmare to have as one of your instructors in an activity that should be fun at its core, not stressful and traumatizing. Still, it was awesome to go to band competitions and brag that your drill was designed by the Spartacus guy.
What did he do?
Those are awfully strong words to be using about an instructor. Stressful comes with the territory of being good. But traumatizing? That's a pretty serious proclamation.
Drum Corp competitions are without doubt the latest and greatest entertainment phenomenon of mankind.
What will be left in a 1000 years for archeologists to uncover that will prove there IS a way to compete without war.
The helmets WERE so cool. Were.
Idk if this is prerecorded but could we do tilt because it’s iconic as everything!!? Or maybe 2005 or 2011 cadets
Random Kid
I mean they didn’t do Tilt
But really only the ending of it is iconic
Bryan I mean the same can be said about 2008 Phantom, not hating on it but if that’s your reasoning that applies here
Bryan if u want an iconic show, they should do 2011 cadets... or any 2011 show. It was the best year in my opinion followed by 2014
I don't think they're going to do tilt as they've only done shows that have won and tilt didn't win.
@@randomkid4783 - I doubt they’re going to do Cadets 2011. Not having George Hopkins there will cause there to be a massive elephant in the room, and George Hopkins is now persona non grata in DCI.
That girl that was thrown to the turf on finals night actually suffered a concussion and she finished the show.
I think you show someone Frameworks first
Omg.. 87 SCV or 87 Cadets for DCI virgins
