I recently had an old infinity 12" sub die on me, and while I knew it's shortcomings, it was hard to justify (to the wife of course) buying a new one with the current being functional. I did quite a bit of reading and as someone already mentioned, there is soooo much information and many options out there. Long story short, while very intrigued by the HSU line, I purchased an SVS PB-2000 today and I can't wait. I'm not sure quite what to expect as I've never heard a higher quality sub in person, but based on all the reviews I'm sure I'll be more than satisfied. This is my first post ever on any youtube page, but I wanted to let you know I enjoy the channel and the info you put out. I began to fall in love with home theater about 10 years back and since have been trying to piece together the best system I can when I can. Also, I came across one of your bike reviews a while back as well. I have an Giant Anthem 27.5 also, which I really enjoy.
+Nathan Humphrey I appreciate your break from the norm to comment! If you go to my site, I have a setup guide that should help for new subs. It's just a baseline. Your sub will take some time to break in, after which it will probably be a little louder and you'll need to dial it down a touch. I'm interested to hear your thoughts after hearing it for a while. It will be a whole new experience, that I'm sure of. My Spotify account (also on the site) has a lot of content that isn't just bass heavy, but also some well balanced stuff too, it's amazing what sounds better with proper subs. I doubt you'll like everything on there, anyone who does is probably certifiable, as I'm sure I am. I started bit by bit too. That's the way most people do it I think, few have the money lying around for a truly proper setup all at once. Still love the Anthem but I haven't been able to ride in a while. Thanks again for the comment!
I had a single 12'' sub and traded up for a dual PB-1000 set up with the isolation feet. Dual subs made all the difference for me and would never be able go back to a single sub. Amazing what a difference it made for me personally. So YES dual subs are better IMO.
@@G.G.001 Thanks! I am currently looking for good deals. However they're about €549,- everwhere right now where I live... Hopefully there will be some discounts soon. I want them to replace my 2x Klipsch R-100SW
2 small subs vs 1 large sub, actual answer would be 2 large subs, for twice the money ;) as for subwoofer breaking in they really do, they reach deeper, louder, and become more efficient as the surround loosens up
Hey I have the budjet Pioneer Andrew Jones 5.1 system (floor standing a center and bookshelves for surrounds) and instead of using the 8 inch sub that comes with it I'm using a klipsch R-112SW. Will it be better to use 2 of the 8 inch Pioneers (I have 2 already) or do I stick with the Klipsch?
So just updating my whole system, got new amp and speakers. I want dual subs and have not heard anything bad about the PB-1000. Focal fronts with Arcam amp and dual SVS 1000's would be good fit?
Depends on room size and what's in it and what it's made out of but I have dual PB 1000s in my 16'x18' bedroom and am in heaven while listening. Way more than I need in such a small room. Currently saving up for dual PB 16s for my 18'x24' living room. I'm quite sure that my walls will buckle when I do get the 16s! 😆
Very good and I'm thinking about the same for my HT set that I have to build over time to get to a 5.2.2 if the wife doesn't get to mad at me, but I was thinking of getting 1 PB1000 pro for the 1st year and adding the 2nd later. Could you have gotten two PB1000 Pro for a bit move output? Thanks Darren TX
I have the opportunity to purchase two of these for 700$ (PB-1000) otherwise I can only afford a PB-2000...what should I go with for both movies and hip hop music mostly?
I'm debating between getting two PB1000s vs one PB2000 but wondering if I should consider getting one 2000 first to get the full range that you talk about, and getting a second 2000 down the line. I want to go dual asap but don't want to sacrifice full range if I get two 1000s. I'm kind of torn because I don't want to regret not going for the 2000s later down the road.
If you're willing to cover the shipping costs, their 1 year upgrade program makes it really easy to do just that. Go dual PB-1000's now, and within a year you can trade them in at FULL price for a set of PB-2000's. Here is their policy on it: bit.ly/SVSBillofRights (affiliate link) Just save your boxes. SVS is VERY good about returns. Print up a label and they will schedule a pickup or you can take it into a FedEx office. As far as the full range issue, it's not bad. We're talking 2-5 audible hertz depending on how you look at it. If it was drastic, I wouldn't recommend the PB-1000 at all, but they are truly impressive subs. They are the only 10" sub I'll recommend.
Talking across the SVS line, how loud does a single sub play compared to 2 subs? So what do dual pb1000's stack up against purely in terms of level. Another thing, do you find that a single PB1000 would be loud enough in your room? For music I have to assume yes. but what about the latest action movies at a reasonable level?
I bought an SVS Prime Center speaker to go with my Yamaha RX-A850 AVENTAGE. What kind of speaker wire do you recommend I use for the center speaker and should I use banana plugs? If so, what kind?
The kind of connection you get is a personal choice. Bananas are quick to connect, but so long as the connection is secure you should be good. SVS just came out with their own speaker cables. I haven't tried them yet, but they look like quality. They have a DIY line as well as a custom terminated high end option. I'd go with 14 gauge at a minimum (not thinner 16 or 18 gauge) I have been using monoprice 12 gauge (thicker) with good results. I'll be trying out the SVS cables soon. You can go broke on cables, but I can't imagine spending thousands on cable. I don't imagine I would be able to tell the difference between a $100 cable and a $500 cable.
Do you have any thoughts on SVS PB1000/2000 vs Rythmik LXv12 (servo subwoofer)? I am trying to build my home theater/home audio system. I will be mostly listening to music and watch movies. (60/40). Do you have any thoughts on Servo SW?
Been looking at sub's on the net for a couple of days , information overload . Glad to see your doing this set up experiment , funny i was thinking the same thing this morning .I got about $ 1000u.s budget without misses murdering me
I feel you, it's a brain breaker. Going back in time, in your same situation, I would personally go with the PB1000's. The dual setup is so worth it. I love my big sub, but duals are $2,000. My wife loves the big sub too, but she also really loves the smaller size of these duals. Neither of us feel like we really lost much. They don't play Saint Siens as well as the big sub, but that's a painfully ear throbbing track anyway. Make no mistake, these handle the business with composure and authority. Being able to upgrade within a year makes it a no brainer.
Great video. just got a PB1000 yesterday, replacing 25 year old DAK sub.I was thinking of getting 2,SVS said one should do fine in My room,I live in a condo. 75 dB at My seat.45 days to try it out,and order 2 nd. sub and save 50 bucks.
+Toby Hines Thanks! A second sub isn't about more output, but better coverage with fewer dead spots. A single PB-1000 will easily fill up a small room, so in terms of output they 100% correct. I'd say try the second one, if it doesn't work for you send it back, but then you will know for sure. I doubt you will though, I have no desire to go back to a single sub setup after hearing it. You'll find yourself turning them down as they break in, and you'll run them both at a lower level than what a single would need to be set at. It's a stout little sub isn't it?
I use a PB 1000 now, on one side of my television, in a rectangle shaped room. I was thinking about getting a PB 1000 to place on the other side of the tv. this way,I can have both the tight musical bass and the low movie type bass. would this work, or would they be way out of phase, and cancel each other out?
thank you. I love the pb, it just seems like I'm missing some of the tight, chest punching bass. in reality, my home is only a double wide trailer, so it sucks for achieving optional sound, even with a good sub. thanks for your opinion. I watch allot of your videos to get a better understanding of things. peace
+Jacob Flint Thanks! The second sub will tighten up the sound, and running your gain higher and AVR subwoofer trim lower should also give you more oomph while still balanced. Also, if you don't have it already, the SVS isolation system should help on wood subfloors. If you stomp and the floor itself makes noise, it will likely help. My floor is noisy.
Depends on what you have. Try setting the sub on a cushion or pillow, being careful not to tip it of course, and see if you notice a difference. You could also check your amp crossover. Should be around 80-110, even if your mains go deeper. What sub are you running?
+Subwoofer 101 I have the Pioneer SW-8MK2 and still don't get the results I was looking for after doing a sub crawl. it seems like I have dead zones everywhere except one spot. that's why I was looking to buy another sub today.
+spacecityx Well dual subs will probably improve sound, but if you get something similar to what you have, I think you will probably still be underwhelmed, just with fewer dead spots. Not to pick on your sub, but it is only rated for 38 Hertz, effectively missing about 20 hertz of the audible subwoofer range. Considering the range is only 100-20 hertz, that's 25% of the audible range that you're not getting, and that's where the good stuff is. The dual PB-1000's are about the most economical true bass setup you can find, and it cleared up the dead spots for me very effectively, and I have a fantastic single sub. There are still a few spots here and there, but overall the improvement was substantial. I can tell you that the difference between what you have now and a PB-1000 would be outrageous. It's a completely different world.
+Subwoofer 101 I also have my system set at 40 Hertz which was what my Yamaha's ypao changed it to. so I'm assuming going into the settings and changing it back to 80 sounds better?
+spacecityx It should. The crossover was set where the sub starts to drop off, so you were getting very little usable signal going to your sub. That should make a difference. Depending on your mains, you may even try adjusting it as high as 110 hertz. Play around with it and see what sounds best to you. My taste on that seems to vary between 90 and 110, but I imagine with better mains I'd like 80 hertz.
So your big on HSU and SVS and I respect that, but some of us are not willing to shell out 1000-1700 for dual subs. Do you have any other lower cost recommendations? when $889 buys a HSU VTF-3 MKHp delivered
+Thomas Strother $950 for dual PB-1000's are the least expensive duals I've found that I can personally recommend. Good bass is expensive, and these are a bargain for what you get. You could go single, but if it were me I would consider going a little smaller, and getting the second when you can. VTF-2 or PB-1000 instead of the VTF3, which is a fantastic sub. At $889 you're only $60 away from duals. With SVS, it doesn't cost you anything if they don't do the job for you with gusto, so it's truly a free audition if they don't work out. The ONLY problem with the VTF3 is that it costs $1,778 for duals delivered, but still GREAT bang for the buck. I don't mean to say anything bad about the VTF3, 2 would be amazing. I'd eat cheap for a couple weeks and save up the $60 for dual subs, but that's me. I'm saying splitting your sub budget is a good call, so long as the subs have a strong pedigree. I really can't come up with anything cheaper without significant performance loss. The VTF-1 is cheaper, but drops off too soon for my taste, (rated for 25 hertz) and is the only ported sub I can't recommend from Hsu. It's OK for the money, but to me a sub should be able to hit from 20-100. The PB-1000's are truly authoritative to 21 hertz, and drop off under 19, but more than that, they sound amazing. Next cheapest I could recommend would be the VTF-2.
+Subwoofer 101- thanks for the input and opinion. the world of subs is black hole that sucks you in. love the Databass but it looks like it has not been updated since 2010. reading thru audioholics and their reviews and Bassaoholic ratings is good but, it would be nice to get a spread sheet with cost in the equation. thanks again I think im going the SVS route its safe and sounds to be very battle trailed.
I'm actually working on something like that. Not so much price as that can vary, but a list of solid contenders and price ranges. Databass has done a few recent updates, like the Captivator for those need the nuclear option. The PB-1000 should get you done with plenty left over. If not, you'll need to increase your budget by at least several hundred. They have me smiling as I type this, so I doubt you'll have a problem. They break in after a week or two, and you'll probably have to turn them down a smidge. Keep me updated!
I really don't think someone interested in subs that I talk about would be satisfied long term with those subs, but I could be wrong. I'd love to be able to recommend the 1500, it's very impressive for the price, but so is Bud light. If you want rich flavor, you usually go microbrew. They just aren't in the same league. They aren't horrible paper weights, just not the same league.
+Kenny Drake Hey Kenny, check out the website: www.subwoofer101.com/setting-up-your-gear/setting-up-your-new-subs/ 0 phase, crossover disabled, 40% or so gain for dual subs, 50% or so for a single, adjust as needed. The website has more detailed steps.
It can really just depend on the room. The key is that placement is less critical with duals vs a single, but there are some positions that are better than others. Front corner loaded is good, or like I have it, but the way you have it is probably good too. It depends on the room too. I like to keep the subs aimed at the main listening position, and preferably equidistant to the MLP. If you move them, be sure to run room correction again.
The biggest problem for me, with the PB 1000, is that I had one PC 2000 Pro, before I purchased dual PB 1000, instead of ONE PC 2000 Pro. PC 2000 Pro, is so sweet. But as you say. Two smaller subs, is the way to go, if money IS, an issue. But I truly love my PB 1000:-)
Hello, I have a question. I own a big massive sub-woofer, being said its an older SVS PB-12Plus/2, yeah its massive. My question is should I leave the sub up front or in the back of my 15 by 20 room? The problem is its so big the aesthetics gets in the way.
That's a tough sub to do a sub crawl with I imagine. =) The best placement I've been able to get with a single sub has been the center of a wall, but for aesthetics I didn't really experiment heavily. Dual subs just make it easier. I'm curious with 2 big drivers in that unit if you experience any of the benefits of duals? Have you measured your room response at all? It should be fine in the back of the room if it works better for appearances, but I would avoid wireless, use a good cable instead if you can.
So i cant have the svs pb2000 (shipping issues) but i can get the sb2000. My question is should i go with 2 svs pb1000 or 2 sb 2000. I use for 85% movies and the rest music. Thanks in advenace (small room)
I liked the PB-1000, it had a deeper presentation. The SB-2000's went to 11 hertz in room, but the PB-1000 "sounded" deeper. The SB-2000'S have benefits too. Here's the write up. www.subwoofer101.com/ported-vs-sealed/
I've got the PB1000, and I'd like to add another sub. it's beyond the year for upgrading, so I'm keeping the PB1000. my question is would you advise I get another PB1000 or get a PB2000 for my second sub? Thanks! Richard
Oh, I just ignore them. Sometimes I comment back when it's too hard to resist, but I just accept it as part of the deal. Did get my first violent threat the other day though, that was fun. Fewer trolls than I expected though. Overall my audience is really polite, and that's not lost on me! I'm not going to promise ANYTHING here, but you could call SVS, explain that you have been watching my videos and chatting with me, and that you want to go dual with the PB-2000's, and just see what they say. I don't expect that they would be able to offer anything out of the ordinary, but I know they love their return customers. If they can't give you something worth making the switch, the second PB-1000 would still be awesome. That's one of the benefits of the PB-1000, going duals is a lot easier. Add some bit.ly/IsolationFeet (affiliate link) to them and it will be even better. I have not tried a PB-1000 with a PB-2000 (did not have them both at the same time) but my working theory is to keep the subs identical. Trust SVS's recommendation over my own though.
Go with the dual PB-2000 first...give them a week to break in and see how they sound after a few weeks of playing...if you don't like them (not loud enough etc),SVS will handle it...they're a top rated company for a reason :-)
just gone dual 12" 400W sealed subs. bass is so much richer and complete sounding now. there is less bass boom and also less nulls, I'm hearing subtle things in the bass that I didn't before probably because I was Sat in a small null. also the headroom you get is just immense, the subs are cruising along and when asked to dig deep (e.g. opening sweep of edge of tomorrow) the peak SPL is just crazy. from now on all my HT setups will be dual (or more) subs it's the way to go and that is proven objectively and subjectively:)
+Peter Wood You're talking about that "Swiss cheese" bass, where certain things are missing throughout the bass range. Seems to be missing at several spots, not just one particular dip. The graphs don't seem to show it as much as I seem to hear it. Thanks for the comment, it's probably going to help others realize the importance. It's not something that can be fixed with shear power (a single monster sub). Thanks for the feedback!
Yes to re-iterate it's not about being louder though multiple subs can do that too, you really can have your cake and eat it. I picked up my second sub used and saved a fair bit that way. It is like the difference between single and double cream hehe. Plus the room looks symmetrical now which is nice:)
Lovely review. Thank you. I have a question: DefTech ProSub1000 or SVS PB1000? Which one would you choose? It's for my drawing room (hall). Please can you help me in this?
I've had both in my room. You have to take into account that I'm an SVS affiliate now, which means I can get credit if you follow my links before you buy, but I could just as easily point to the ProSub 1000 on Amazon for the same type of thing. I just want to be transparent, but my opinion would be the same regardless. Hands down, the PB-1000 is easily superior. It goes deep much more powerfully. While the ProSub is rated for 1 hertz lower (18 hertz vs 19 hertz) it starts to taper (getting quieter) well above 30 hertz while the PB-1000 doesn't start to taper until 21 hertz. While the ProSub's factory ratings may be within acceptable range, it does not give a true impression of the response. SVS includes a response graph bit.ly/PB-1000 And it correlates with my own in room measurements, which will have a different shape because of room effects, but it can clearly be seen that the output is very strong under 40 hertz: www.subwoofer101.com/pb-1000-vs-pb-2000/ I can't find graphs for the ProSub, or I would provide a link so you can compare. I would expect the response for the ProSub to be similar to the "norm 10" sub" on my graph. Flat response curves are not common, most subs start losing output under 40 hertz (just where it starts getting good in my opinion) but SVS subs are known for their impossibly flat response curves, with plenty of output down low where it counts. Hopefully that helps!
Thank you so much for your help bro. And I sincerely want to buy from your link. The thing is that I'm getting the woofer for 40% less from a dealer I know compared to Amazon. If you have any link from which you can benefit, for India, and even I can, I will be happy to buy from there :) Thank you again :)
I regularly need to turn new subs down after a while. It's just something I expect at this point. Some break in within a few weeks, some have taken months. The PB 16 Ultras were odd that way, had to turn them down 4 dB over 4 months. Kind of a different driver design, that might have had something to do with it. Most are broke in after a month.
I spoke to someone at SVS about the pb1000 break in period and they recommend 40 hours of play and said the sub will become slightly warmer afterwards.
I like the videos you show what I'm doing is doing dual Tower speakers and single sub so I do 5.1 speakers Tower speakers and at the fronts I have Polk Audio speakers and then I have Klipsch at the back the f 200 dual woofer
I have a question regarding pc-2000. I have a very small room and I was assuming one pc-2000 would be overkill but it's not. Room is 10x10x10. I have denon 3300x. I found the 2000 to not be strong enough and svs struggled to help me solve the issue. One svs tech ended up telling me it maybe because I'm not using a center speaker. Setup is all set correctly. Small, proper distance, placement. Question is have you ever herd of not having a center limiting the bass? 2.1 surround sound.
+Fresh Step Carpet Cleaning I had never really considered it, but it could have something to do with the LFE track not activating in stereo. That's a blind guess though, I haven't tried it yet. What is your gain and AVR subwoofer trim set at? The PC-2000 has the output, but a second one would change the game, boosting output by up to 6db.
PC-2000 I was set to 100% and +6 on the avr. Single pc2000 no room for duel. Set to small. Idk if you ever herd of no center limiting the sub, but thats what one tech at svs was thinking. I ended up returning it for the ultra 13. Its lot better, but nothing scary like id think it should be. Satisfied though.
+Egidio Concas (Flepper) I think that would be just about perfect. Duals really even out the room, and I'm a fan of locating them right next to your fronts like you plan to do. Now, when you walk around, you will walk in and out of peaks and nulls, where the bass volume drops or gets louder. That will decrease a lot, providing more even coverage and just a better presence of bass in general. When you get it set up you can switch back and forth with only 1 sub on and then 2 subs on to tell the difference. But yes, just one PB-1000 has plenty of output. You will need to turn the dual subs down from where your single is set, which means your dual subs will not have to work as hard as your single does, which means a longer life.
+Subwoofer 101 thanks for the infos!! when i plug the second one and i re-do the automatic calibration with my pioneer vsx-924 i assume it will set all the right volumes as always, right???
+Egidio Concas (Flepper) It should actually do it better because of the dual setup. Just make sure both subs are set to 0 phase, and set the gain at the same spot on the subs (probably 2/3 or 10 o clock on the gain dial). I always note where the auto cal sets the subwoofer volume on the AVR, turn it all the way down on the AVR, then play familiar music and turn it up until the sound is "filled in" to your taste. Sometimes it's spot on to auto cal, sometimes not. You can check out the web page for setting up your subs. www.subwoofer101.com/setting-up-your-gear/setting-up-your-new-subs/
Nice starter setup. Get a real center channel and some towers (you're already using the height due to the stands} and see what some good mid-bass adds to your system.
Agreed. I'm now the world's first SVS Affiliate. Here's the current setup: 2 bit.ly/SVSPB2000 bit.ly/PrimeTower bit.ly/PrimeCenter bit.ly/PrimeSatellite Yes, it's MUCH better. Have 2 bit.ly/PC-2000 showing up tomorrow. Going to run 4 subs and see how that goes. Also trying the Dayton wireless setup. That Def Tech center channel was not my favorite. Ran some Paradigm towers for a little bit and ran with the center turned off for a while, sounded better that way. The Prime center, however, is quite good. Even the Sats are impressive. I feel bad because I blamed the subs for bass issues that were coming from the mains. Had some peaks around 80 hertz and 40 hertz. After switching to SVS mains, that problem evaporated. Decent looking graphs for bass: www.subwoofer101.com/pb-1000-vs-pb-2000/ See my newest videos for an up to date view of the setup. It will continue to evolve.
Try going to 4 subs. I did YEARS ago and was called crazy, overkill, too much bass , and so on.Now it is common in high end Home Theaters.I was able to turn on my subs, so music,I would use 1,or 2 depending on when and what I was listening to. Then Sports,2 was fine, but movies was where 4 was great. No dead spots, smooth, even bass without mucking up the rest of the audio. Of course it was difficult to adjust them in the beginning. You have to turn them all down lower than when there is one ,or two. Try using the HSU in the back of the room, in addition to the SVS's and you will see how much better coverage you have.I had 4 Sunfire MKII subs(until my son turned on the PC way too loud and over extend all 4 drivers, 4 grand gone!) . Have fun
Ouch! I may try 4 subs at some point, maybe soon. Gets beyond the simplicity factor I'm going for, but it's worth having the discussion. 2 has been a dramatic improvement. I imagine you have read the Harman white papers? I'm having a lot of fun with this channel! Thanks for chiming in!
I only watched for 10 seconds and immediately noticed that this guy was one of those who talks alot but don't get much of a message across. It's a long video of almost 9 minutes, and in order for it to be interesting you would want some frequency response graphs etc. But instead, I suspect, it's mostly talk; subjective opinions that doesn't really tell us anything of use. This is a problem with the Internet these days; so much talk, talk, talk. But in the end you feel that the message wasn't of much use, because the one who made the video is only filling time. I could go on and on and on but maybe by now you are starting to get the point. Stop making people want to murder babies. Ok?
You might like to see this little candle trick then, lol: ruclips.net/video/XOPyP58Oa4o/видео.html My room is wonky, basically 24x24 including the kitchen, which has a wall in the middle of the space. Not ideal, but that makes dual subs even more important. A single PB-1000 will sound good depending on how hard you plan to drive it, but duals would be much better. The PB12-NSD would be better for the same price, but they will likely be sold out soon. SVS sold out super quick. I can still see them on my Amazon page: www.amazon.com/shop/subwoofer101 Since I made this video I became the first SVS affiliate. One downside to the PB12-NSD is that you can only get it on Amazon, which means you don't get the 1 year trade up. The "magic" is having dual PB-2000's, and if you go factory direct (sub101.link/PB-1000), you can trade up within a year toward dual PB-2000's. Either way, I would plan on dual subs. I can't overstate how important I think it is. I've gone back to a single twice, and was very grateful when I returned to duals.
Subwoofer 101 interesting. First I think I have to get some new satellites or monitors from them. Right now I'm running super basic def tech's procinema 600s system and a super cube 4000. It sounds horrid to me. You only get so much out of 8 inch woofers lol
throw away you current sound system and GET a Energy 5.1 take classic home system. Its the best bang for buck.anyway with such a set-up,what money are you saving with two smaller dual subs again ? lol
I have the energy take classic. it's not bad for the price but the sub doesn't go below 30 hz. I knew something was missing in the sound but could figure what it was at the time. due to my lack of experience in the home theater department, I later bought the energy RC 70 to complete my 7.2 system. still the sound wasn't solid enough for me. I later bought a second energy take classic subwoofer from creg list to make it dual. still doesn't sound good enough. at this point, my wife was already complaining about too many speakers in the house. I saw the SVS reviews and decided to get one. it made a lot of difference. I tried dual with the pb-1000 and one of my energy take classic subwoofer. but now I ordered a second pb-1000, getting it 3 days time. am selling my dual energy take classic subwoofers. the energy take classic speakers are really good but the subwoofer could be better. my only problem now is what to tell my wife when the second subwoofer arrives. lol..
Not too bad, the PB-1000's would have no problem whatsoever with that track, assuming I hear the version you're talking about. Only content dipping under 20 hertz would challenge the PB-1000's. I'm running the PB-16 Ultras right now, and this track didn't stress them at all. Not sure I heard the right version, if you want to put the link for the exact video, I'll be sure to check it out. Here's a challenging collection of bass, none of which really stress any of the SVS subs I've heard, but they are certainly deep and fun to listen to with deep heavy hitting subs:ruclips.net/p/PLMZU06y9stN6E-mpVc12gqUS8jKLR2cD-
Wow so many video on this topic you keep repeating the same thing over again without any live music to show everyone the true answer.. dual 12 driver will never run deep than 15 driver that is ancient for sure, its just the matter of the coverage for using dual or single sub will be the straight main purpose..
Do you still enjoy the dual PB-1000? I am still in doubt on what to get.
I might get the dual PB-1000... But they're quite expensive right now
@@MrArjanOskam Yes very much so. They fill up the room nicely and have full effect even at low volume. Wouldn't go back to a single sub.
@@G.G.001 Thanks! I am currently looking for good deals. However they're about €549,- everwhere right now where I live... Hopefully there will be some discounts soon.
I want them to replace my 2x Klipsch R-100SW
@@MrArjanOskam yes they are quite expensive. Good luck, hope you find a good deal on them.
@@G.G.001 Thanks! I hope so too! Just need to move the SVS soundpath feet from the Klipsch to the PB-1000 then
should the sub be diagonally place from each other. on opposite corners
2 small subs vs 1 large sub, actual answer would be 2 large subs, for twice the money ;) as for subwoofer breaking in they really do, they reach deeper, louder, and become more efficient as the surround loosens up
+time4tradin Yeah, it's a real thing for sure. Thanks for the comment!
What speaker stands are them bookshelf speakers on. Trying to find some good sturdy ones for my surrounds. Thanx!
Thanks
Darren TX
I have the opportunity to purchase two of these for 700$ (PB-1000) otherwise I can only afford a PB-2000...what should I go with for both movies and hip hop music mostly?
Right here, right now: ruclips.net/video/mm8tia_WSCI/видео.html
Having REW frequency comparison between the dual subwoofer layout vs the single larger subwoofer would be nice to have.
The SVS facebook forum recently made the point that dual subs beats one larger sub - I AGREE! Now I have gone dual I would struggle to go back to one
It's game changing!
The subs hooked up in place of old one, its smaller than DAK's now to give it a listen.
I meant to write SB for the second sub. I just re read my comment. Lol. I have a PB now, and I'm wanting an SB for the other side of my tv.
+Jacob Flint Some people say they have luck mixing subs, but I haven't. If it were me, I'd get another PB-1000.
My floor is noisy.
does the rubber floor matting make a big difference? I've got tile and I'm wondering if thats what's killing my low ends.
+Thomas Strother Dayton 1200/1500
I really don't think someone interested in subs that I talk about would be satisfied long term with those subs, but I could be wrong. I'd love to be able to recommend the 1500, it's very impressive for the price, but so is Bud light. If you want rich flavor, you usually go microbrew. They just aren't in the same league. They aren't horrible paper weights, just not the same league.
One more question. Where do you suggest putting the settings on the back of the PB-1000's
+Kenny Drake Hey Kenny, check out the website: www.subwoofer101.com/setting-up-your-gear/setting-up-your-new-subs/
0 phase, crossover disabled, 40% or so gain for dual subs, 50% or so for a single, adjust as needed. The website has more detailed steps.
What configuration sounds best with duals?
Front of the room like yours LEFT and RIGHT?
I have front left and back right?
It can really just depend on the room. The key is that placement is less critical with duals vs a single, but there are some positions that are better than others.
Front corner loaded is good, or like I have it, but the way you have it is probably good too. It depends on the room too. I like to keep the subs aimed at the main listening position, and preferably equidistant to the MLP. If you move them, be sure to run room correction again.
can you do a review on the jbl es150pbk sub im thinking of buying it for my bedroom
Subwoofer 101 Thank you I teied putting the sub in the middle of the back room and I didna fine tune of it and it now sounds great.
Is your back OK? lol Great to hear!
Yes sir, it actually feels better from the rumbling acting like a massage.
I'm sure there are some yet undiscovered medical benefits to good subwoofing!
Subwoofer 101 looks like i will go with 2 pb1000 see how the work out for me.
Tito Rodriguez What's the shipping issue?
Subwoofer 101 cant deliver freight here
I've got the PB1000, and I'd like to add another sub. it's beyond the year for upgrading, so I'm keeping the PB1000. my question is would you advise I get another PB1000 or get a PB2000 for my second sub? Thanks! Richard
How far beyond the 1 year mark are you?
I bought it on 3/16/15--
PS--How do you put up with all of those nasty trolls??
Thanks--I'll give them a call
Should I buy myself dual pb 2000 or one pb 4000? I like to lissten to loud music but deep bass is an absolute priority. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the video. By the way do those basket looking items on the bottom shelf have electronics in them? If so I was wondering why ?
Baskets have Blu Rays in them. Just for organization.
2 subs will help with peaks and nulls it makes sense dual or more subs are definitely the way to go it will even out the bass throughout the room.
SVS includes a response graph bit.ly/PB-1000
And it correlates with my own in room measurements, which will have a different shape because of room effects, but it can clearly be seen that the output is very strong under 40 hertz: www.subwoofer101.com/pb-1000-vs-pb-2000/
I can't find graphs for the ProSub, or I would provide a link so you can compare.
If you have any link from which you can benefit, for India, and even I can, I will be happy to buy from there :) Thank you again :)
can you use two different sized of subwoofer??
You can, but I would try to keep the subs as matched as possible.
Aboud Mouro i cant they work against each other so i buy 2 the same
Not only is a break in period "real",it's absolutely necessary...those that try to argue that point lack a basic understanding of science
I have a pb1000 too and want to add second now, so i will feel complete =D
+Egidio Concas (Flepper) Right on! Report back when you do and thanks for the comment!
You can check out the web page for setting up your subs. www.subwoofer101.com/setting-up-your-gear/setting-up-your-new-subs/
i have volume 12 o clock, phase at 0 and low pass filter at LFE, as I was instructed =)
Nice starter setup. Get a real center channel and some towers (you're already using the height due to the stands} and see what some good mid-bass adds to your system.
Agreed. I'm now the world's first SVS Affiliate. Here's the current setup:
2 bit.ly/SVSPB2000
bit.ly/PrimeTower
bit.ly/PrimeCenter
bit.ly/PrimeSatellite
Yes, it's MUCH better.
Decent looking graphs for bass: www.subwoofer101.com/pb-1000-vs-pb-2000/
See my newest videos for an up to date view of the setup. It will continue to evolve.
I'm sold! im going to get Dual PB-1000 Pro!
i got klipsch towers and that and centers that are the Rps and they sound good but ther sub i dont like...
Dual sb-1000 pros or single sb-3000
Ok?
Move the left subwoofer so it's possitioning the same way as the right speakers/subwoofer
Did it not long after the video was made. Not a major difference, but it's more symmetrical. Thanks for watching!
Jesus that's a lot of bass. Lol. How big is your room? How will one pb1000 sound in a 15 x 10 room
You might like to see this little candle trick then, lol: ruclips.net/video/XOPyP58Oa4o/видео.html
My room is wonky, basically 24x24 including the kitchen, which has a wall in the middle of the space. Not ideal, but that makes dual subs even more important.
A single PB-1000 will sound good depending on how hard you plan to drive it, but duals would be much better. The PB12-NSD would be better for the same price, but they will likely be sold out soon. SVS sold out super quick. I can still see them on my Amazon page: www.amazon.com/shop/subwoofer101
Since I made this video I became the first SVS affiliate.
Those who ask what’s better one sub or 2 subs . Let me ask you what you perfer 2 girls or one girl . There’s your answer
throw away you current sound system and GET a Energy 5.1 take classic home system. Its the best bang for buck.anyway with such a set-up,what money are you saving with two smaller dual subs again ? lol
Let me guess, you want to know when trash day is? Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll stick with the good stuff. Funny though!
I tried dual with the pb-1000 and one of my energy take classic subwoofer. but now I ordered a second pb-1000, getting it 3 days time. am selling my dual energy take classic subwoofers. the energy take classic speakers are really good but the subwoofer could be better. my only problem now is what to tell my wife when the second subwoofer arrives. lol..
Yeah there really is no comparison is there? Good bass costs real money, but wow, right?
Nice Video.. Thanks
Thank you !!
You're welcome!
Upgrade to a projector :)
put el chapo on see if they will survive
I think there is more than one, which one are you talking about? Movie, TV series, where can I find it?
look up Skrillex El chapo and it is the black background with three lines
Not too bad, the PB-1000's would have no problem whatsoever with that track, assuming I hear the version you're talking about. Only content dipping under 20 hertz would challenge the PB-1000's. I'm running the PB-16 Ultras right now, and this track didn't stress them at all. Not sure I heard the right version, if you want to put the link for the exact video, I'll be sure to check it out.
Here's a challenging collection of bass, none of which really stress any of the SVS subs I've heard, but they are certainly deep and fun to listen to with deep heavy hitting subs:ruclips.net/p/PLMZU06y9stN6E-mpVc12gqUS8jKLR2cD-
look this up then on youtube The Game & Skrillex-"EL Chapo" (Bass boosted) Btw give me a shout out plz :)
Wow so many video on this topic you keep repeating the same thing over again without any live music to show everyone the true answer.. dual 12 driver will never run deep than 15 driver that is ancient for sure, its just the matter of the coverage for using dual or single sub will be the straight main purpose..
looks awesome...a lot of..a..ah..um..ahh...
other then that great video 😁
BLA BLA BLA
So much talk and no action..
Come on.... Decide first and then make a video. You're too confused yourself
