One of the finest actors ever from Hollywood. He knew how to take over a scene and has great stage presence. Also his voice was made for narration and voice over work.

Stephen Boyd was one of the most underrated actors ever in Hollywood and should have won innumerable awards and illustrious movie roles for his talent. His death scene in Ben-Hur was the best ever and of course, should have won him the Oscar - shockingly, he wasn't even nominated. He was the perfect James Bond, a role which still would have underused his mega-skills. Mr. Boyd was brilliant, dazzling, charismatic, hardworking, handsome and his kindness and wisdom was obvious in every interview he gave. Many have wondered why he married Elizabeth Mills. She was his long time secretary and perhaps a devoted friend, but she was 20 years older and rather plain looking. Does anyone know why he married her when she was in her 60's and he was still youthful? Did his close-knit family wonder? Perhaps we wish he had married someone younger and equally charming and had talented children with gorgeous chin clefts. He would have been a wonderful father. He seemed to be a very generous, caring, and thoughtful son, brother, and uncle. I wish he never smoked but everyone at the time seemed to chain smoke and die young. The world's loss.

Stephen Boyd was only 45 years old when he died of a heart attack while playing a round of golf in 1977. Just a few months later, Bing Crosby, about three decades older, also died of a heart attack after completing a golf game in 1977. I always thought it was a weird coincidence.

He wasn't getting what he wanted from Hollywood. Others left, as well, including Carroll Baker with whom he made a European film. He also made several films with the very popular and gorgeous Marisa Mell, with whom he had an intense affair that ended very abruptly. He was from a very small town in N Ireland and had an extremely exciting and glamorous life that ended very suddenly with a premature death. He left a large empty spot on this planet.
