I never cared much for the Cryolator and in all my years of playing Fallout 4 i never tried this glitch even tho i knew of it
I'll be honest in saying I've never been huge on it either. It is a pretty unique, strong, and fun gun to use though, I can't deny that.
The ammo is so scarce and honestly the effect is only useful on a few of the tanky fast moving enemies or groups in the game.... Your not missing much
@@thepantyraid Yeah it's nothing mind blowing. If ammo wasn't as scarce than I can see it being a much better pick and especially early on, but that of course isn't the case. Outside of that, plenty of other great weapon options in the game that are just as good if not better. Maybe many aren't as "cool" since this is literally a cyro spraying gun which is awesome, but that only matters so much and again, especially if you have little ammo with it haha.
Gonna have to redownload 4 to see all the changes and enclave stuff and such. so nice to this game still getting love

on v 1.10.984.0.1 PC - can confirm this still works. placed Dogmeat in the locker and shut the door, asked to fetch an item. I had to try this a number of times before it worked though. I ended up having him find "container" then had him find "item" and he eventually locked onto it for me. keep trying it, it should eventually work.

I THOUGHT THAT SAME SHIT DAY 1 OF THE UPDATE LOL. I was like no fucking shot these guys fixed this glitch.. Took me a while to figure out crouching for some reason makes him appear, but sure enough that's what does it. Figured there is no way there isn't at least 1 person that sees the video and doesn't have that happen so I knew I better add it in. Glad I did.

If this isn't working for you. Go into the overseers office. There's a bedroom nearby. Enter and pull out your pistal, then spam the sleep command on the bed. Dogmeat should pop up behind you. I suggest making a hard save after leaving the vault in case there are future patches to this and you wanna start a new game.
Was this the fix for you following it not working? I'm curious to know if this would actually fix it for any of those having trouble.
@DemonAsylum when he didn't follow Me into the vault, My first instinct was to do things that make him spawn. Pulling out your weapon being one and sleeping being the other.
@@billyhatcher605 OHH your issue was dogmeat not appearing. I thought you were providing a fix for dogmeat not grabbing the gun. That's the problem some people have been having, not dogmeat not coming down into the vault. I also showed / explained at the start of the video how to instantly and easily fix that. Just crouch when you get into the vault. Simple as that haha. He then appears. Check it out in the video :D
I was so irritated I followed these instructions perfectly and it didn’t work. I used it when a came out so I knew it worked. But it wasn’t for me. After starting new game, I think it was because I didnt do that earlier fetch mission with DM when you first meet him. After that, went smooth as butter
So you ended up having issues on your previous save, but it was working on a new one? And yeah I wish I could figure out a clear pattern across the handful of people that are having issues. Seems super random though hopefully it's not and it can be figured out why it wont work for some.
Yeaa basically, when you first meet DM you have him fetch something which triggers an encounter with molerats. I didn’t do that the first time and DM wouldn’t find the cryolator. When I made a new game, I did that molerat encounter and then I was able to get the cryolator. Only thing I did differently.

I just started a new replay of FO4. My version is 1.10.980.0.1 PC (your is showing as 1.10.897.*.* Playstation) and this no longer seems to work. I command Dogmeat to fetch and he does not find anything. Had the room cleared and gate closed... Are you able to replicate this on the newest version? Could they have finally patched this out? Or is it cause I'm on PC?
The version you're playing on for PC is the same version I'm playing on for PS5. The actual version number is just slightly different. That's how this game has always been and of course some other games are the same. Xbox has an even different one too. We're all on the same update though. As for you not getting it to work, it seems there have been a handful in that boat. However there have also been a handful that got it easily like I always do. Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out any sort of pattern or obvious variables taking place. All I can suggest is if you have mods on, maybe that's effecting it, try having dogmeat do it from a few different spots including outside the room, and try again after doing a manual save, quitting to main menu, and reloading.
It doesnt work when you let him fetch twice inside the vault. I reloaded my save, only let him fetch in that little room and it worked.
Glad it worked out for you that way and I wish it was as simple of a guaranteed variable as that. Some people have seemed to do exactly as I did in the video as well as with dogmeat fetching for the first time and it didn't work. Not sure what all is playing a factor to make him just not get it for some. Might forever remain a mystery :(

Dogmeat wouldn't appear for me initially. I reloaded an earlier save asked dogmeat to fetch an item in the main map (as @lawlietsImagination in these comments suggested) then entered the vault and crouching worked. Didn't have to start a new game.

For whatever reason, I can't get this to work. I bring Dogmeat into the cage, select 'talk', then 'fetch', then 'items', but he never finds anything... 🤷🏾
What system are you on our of curiosity? And did you try attempting it with him from other starting points? Like outside the door, around the cage/room, etc?

Ah alright. Was gonna say that it seems mostly PC players are struggling. Here I am on PS5 though and this works every time first try for me. I wish there was a clear indicator as to why it would or wouldn't work in whatever scenario. Can only really expect someone to sit there and try for so long as well, understandably so of course.

@@NickPortlowdog meat wouldn’t grab it for me at first, but it did end up working, if he doesn’t grab it and holds it on his mouth, check to see if the gun is in the glassed box or not, if it’s gone, maybe check his inventory
Tried this just now ten times ps5 next-gen update. Dog wouldn't find anything in the room.
You’re sure that you’re choosing to have him find nearby items and not the container option, yeah? You can also try moving around (while still generally close to the cryolator) where you ask him to fetch. That may help.
It definitely works. I'm a total Fallout newbie and followed the video and it worked it first time. It didn't actually prompt to indicate he found anything but If the gun is missing from the cabinet then it's in the dog's inventory.
Tried me in and out of room, different positions, fetch items and other options just incase. Gun stayed in case. It'll be mine eventually...

@@ianarmstrong170 I wish there was a more clear reason why it would work so easily and immediately for me and some others, but then people in your case for instance just seem to have it not work no matter what. Only other thing I can recommend trying is saving/reloading and or leaving the vault followed by coming back in to try again.

not working on steam, i've tried inside the room, outside, around the general area, im making sure that im clicking item, dogmeat isn't finding anything
I know it works on all platforms, but if you're doing everything correct and have tried multiple start positions, I'm not sure what could be making it not trigger. I went and did it like 5 different times while testing things or recording and got it first try every time. All I could recommend at that point is saving/reloading or exiting the vault and coming back in. Maybe both. If no luck, I apologize as nothing sticks out as to why it wouldn't be working for you still.

@@flexjoey I understand it's not working for you. The video shows it clearly working with ease and there are multiple people in the comments saying it works too though so obviously it CAN work. Mind you, some are struggling like yourself as well. Unfortunately I can't find a common denominator for those few people.
@@ciderrss9020 Very possible. If there was one thing that seemed to be the case in most scenarios for those struggling, it's them being on PC. I do know it works on PC as well though. So could it be a case of them all having a popular mod like the unofficial patch on? Maybe.

There is someone in the comments here that replied to multiple people explaining something about sleeping in the bed down there and some other stuff that apparently helps with getting dogmeat to appear if what I did doesn't help.
Man… I have tried everything and can not get this to work. On Xbox series S. I’m ensuring I’m having him fetch items not container (although have tried that as well). I’ve saved and loaded, left the vault, searched in the cage and out of the cage, pushed dogmeat as close to the cryolator as I could, stood inside the cage myself, outside, closed the door, moved the boxes, had him inspect the filing cabinet first then search for items, looking at the cryolator after asking to search, restarted my console, moved the cardboard boxes around.😤 Every damn possibility I can think of. Been at this for nearly an hour with no luck. ONLY thing I can think of it seems most people do this right away after starting their game. I’m about 5 hours into this save and came back to try. 🤷♂️ guess I’ll come back when I can master lockpicking
I wish I could understand why it can work for some people like myself literally every first try, but then others it doesn't seem to work at all. Also I know it isn't a matter of doing it at the start of the game. Outside of it just having been done not only on a fresh character, there wouldn't really be any logic to why time spent on the save would play a factor. Any other variables you can think might be at play? No mods installed or anything?

This was recorded on PS5 haha. It definitely works. You're choosing to have him fetch and item and not choosing the container option, correct? If so, try moving where you have him attempt it from. While it always works with ease for me and best by having him in that little room with the container, some people have found better luck having him do it starting from outside the door of the little room.
Its a useless weapon freeze effect make enemy laying down on next visit to that area that you use to kill them using this weapon. Unless they fix it in this next gen. So far no one cant proof they fix this bug.
I don’t recall seeing anything about fixing such a thing in the update notes sadly and yeah I know what you’re referring to. However, I didn’t think it stayed like that permanently either or could I suppose.

The glitch itself is really simple. Dogmeat is unfortunately a pain in the ass sometimes. Quite janky as well.

This doesn't work I've tried 50+ times Uninstalled reinstalled the game it won't let me hit fetch....
As you can see in the video as well as from multiple people in the comments, it indeed does work. Unfortunately there have been a few including yourself that are struggling to get dogmeat to fetch for whatever reason. I wish I could pinpoint why that is, but when it always works first try for me and when I'm not aware of any common denominator between those struggling, it's hard for me to know :/

Yeah there have been a few others not having him find it either. Wish I had an understanding as to why that is. Works for myself and many others easily, but then not at all for some. A few replies to comments on this video gave some ideas to try and that worked for that individual posting. Maybe look into those if you like.

I feel you haha, but not everyone on PC cares to take stuff like this as far as using literal cheat commands. Such a thing also isn't possible on consoles.
