My mom had MS and I sure wish I knew about this in 2001 and even before. My mom suffered and the more medicine she was given the worse she was and she eventually loss total control of her body functions and it was such happiness when my mom took her last breath and I then knew she was in no more pain and I was right with her from the beginning to the end and this is no joke, MS! I love Dr. Wahl's and hope one day to meet her and have been following her for quite a while now and use her work in my writings to others! What a great testimony she is and wow is all I can say to anybody who does not believe how important it is to feed that mitrochondria!
Just wonderful, I've been looking for "mitochondria in aerobic cells" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Miyason Mitochondria Masker - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.
I am so grateful to Dr Wahls for shedding the light in this modern world into the true way of healing using food, which resonates into vibration.🙏🏻👏👏❤️
It's inspiring to see medical professionals actually interested in health rather than just treating illness, thanks. In regard to the raw meats and killing parasites, what low temperatures are needed and for what duration. Would this be similar to the food standards for fish? That information I stumbled across while looking at sashimi/sushi food standards. My family group is Interested in safely consuming raw mammal meat.
my favorite old doctor once told me that doctors are just educated guessers, that they suggest what they believe would help me, but the real work was up to me. i took that to heart. it took a long time on many Rx until the physical pain got so bad that i got serious studying causes of my various issues. diet and nutrition seemed central. i addressed that, got off all meds, lost some weight and improved impressively. covid year i got lazy, fell off the strict diet, gained weight, and the pain is coming back. needless to say this pain reminder brought me here. following a food plan is really hard and i am lazy, but i don't want to go back to the poor health and meds. my diet was based on losing weight and learning which foods caused me pain. i did not have a long term food plan...this may be the one. thank you
My daughter had gotten acne that was severe ever since she was 15. Today she’s 34 and for the first time ever, the lady has not got break-outs. She was alerted to the Acne Executioner (Google it) and this method showed her how to heal bad acne. She laughs a lot more, and that is really good to observe.
@19:25 I would like to see those tables not relative to mass (here: Per 100g) but relative to macronutrient content (that is calories),like micronutrients per 1000kcals of apple, broccoli and liver. The reason is that you want to maximize you micronutrients/macronutrients ratio so as to maximize your micronutrient intake at a given daily caloric intake.
HighCarb Schwabe The liver would go down a little and the kale and apples would stay the same. 100g of kale and apple are both about 50 calories. 100g of kale is about 132 calories. So the kale would still be 10 times as many nutrients as the apple, but then I think she said the liver was 10 times as many nutrients as the kale, that would go down to 3.8 times as many nutrients. So the liver is still more nutrient dense considering calories, which is a good way to look at it too.
At 30:50 someone is talking about "reabsorbing" c-vitamins from cocked water, but c-vitamins actually "die" at 50 degrees C and that tells you what you have to know...
"Many, MANY have eaten just like this for years." There are numerous MS diets, but they are not all the same. We have to wait until she publishes to see the full plan before comparing it to others. Further, she needs more studies to show significant change. At this point, the program is still in it's early stages but shows promise.
Why do we have to 'wait' until studies show it will work? That is what is wrong with the US we are worried that it there is not 10 studies to back you up, then you are wrong. If a house is on fire, you don't wait for a study to tell you it is on fire you grab the first hose and put it out. Now bear in mind he are not talking about a foreign drug. We are talking about FOOD. The worst that happens is you get healthier.
$75 dollars for that book is more than most people can afford and that is how much it costs on Amazon, it probably costs a lot more from other sites. Maybe it would help if there was just a pamphlet with just the diet with no explanations, no medical language, no pictures etc. so that more people could get started at least with the diet.
If you have ms , from listening carefully to this entire presentation of information ; she stated a few key points . Raw foods that are true color all the way through , as opposed to an Apple which isn't , sprouted walnuts ( I've sprouted everything ) , coconut oil , and an exercise routine you can handle . Don't over do it and stop . If you can grow your own food , she mentioned many B vitamins - cucumber has all the vitamins . Honey , I think , is the perfect food , if it's raw and natural an local . Peace ~

I would love to hear about her thoughts on the carnivore diet. Many anecdotal reports of people curing autoimmune disease and other disease with this diet.
denis demonte I think she said that bacteria in the stomach create K2 if the conditions are right. Which is news to me but it's fantastic if it's true since I don't seem to tolerate dairy.
Lemanakmelo my understanding is the gut bacteria provides very very little k2 over-all and it's a long shot anyway but my line of thinking is that it should only be thought of as an added bonus - if you are intolerant to dairy i'd recommend either life extension's k2 supplement or thorne's d3/k2 or thorne's straight k2(life extension being the most bang for the buck but thorne never disappoints :)) Also if you don't tolerate dairy you might try cultured butter as it has very little casein or lactose, or ghee which is super concentrated, but I'm sure you might know of those two, but they'd be the richest in fat soluble vitamins although K2 can be hit or miss in a lot of dairy because the cows have to be feeding on rapidly growing grass in order to convert it.
denis demonte Thanks, that's good to know that the gut doesn't provide very much. Ya I have tried ghee, which I think I did well with but it's mostly skin issues for me, and I still had them while I was eating ghee, so I'm not entirely sure if the ghee was making it last longer or it was just taking it's time clearing up. I have also heard of butter oil from Green Pastures, but the concept seems strange to me so I haven't tried it yet.
Lemanakmelo butter oil is made in a similar fashion to ghee but the green pastures butter oil is made during the rapid grass, it's really awesome, I recommend the royal blend if you're going to take a dive into it, that stuff is amazing (: Ramiel Nagel recommends that and skate liver oil in cure tooth decay
For B6, eat raw animal foods - raw milk, raw oysters, sashimi or ceviche, raw meat (esp. organ meats), raw pasture-raised egg yolks, etc. For more info watch "Cure Tooth Decy" with Nagel, Fallon No B6, no dreams. No dreams, no tingling. No tingling, no nirvana. (I was told by my neurology)
Trying to figure out how to adapt this diet for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome caused functional GI disorders, including mild gastroparesis -- limited ability to digest fat and fiber. Any suggestions? Got a bag of kale my stomach can't digest raw or lightly cooked. Not sure if my Vitamix can "digest" the fiber well enough if I add kale to an almond milk berry smoothie. Definitely have leaky gut but, due to defective collagen from EDS, it's more likely manageable by reducing inflammation and feeding mitochondria but not curable since the underlying condition is genetic.
strange that a slight focus was made toward Paleo not being very helpful . Paleo is very broard and only the start of good health not the destination. And the talk given here is highly focused on food not the big picture of giving your body the right signals to to be healthy and removing the toxins that contribute to poor health. Many people may get great if not better help from better gut health (check out Chris Kresser) that said , it is great to see the turn around and progress Terry has made. well done! is it possible to return to pre MS life or once the damage has been done it is too late? not disrespecting just like more info.
If you mean pre MS life as in activity, sports etc - then yes, some people in fact feel stronger than pre MS. If you mean pre MS life as in eating junk, gluten or dairy, sedentary lifestyle, then no, the MS will come back pronto.
Shannon Lister I think she made that focus because she was at a conference of people who already know about the Paleo diet and have seen it's effects. She wanted to point out that it didn't work for her and that she tried something different that did work (which I think is still Paleo, but a specific form of Paleo).
Shannon Lister Oh and to answer your question, she doesn't know yet. She said in the talk that she is not back to 100%, and she expects/hopes it will take about 10 years. So we won't know for a few more years about her, and we definitely won't have clinical data on that for a long time, because that would be a long trial and right now the trials she's running aren't that long term.
I saw your TED talk video, it was brilliant! You should speak on the Alex jones show, it has a large viewership base and it would be a great platform to further spread the message!
I'm no longer vegan; instead, I eat a plant-based diet with occasional small fish, insects (cricket flour is great stuff), and ethically sourced meat, but no dairy products.
From what I understand, from her and from other researcher/doctors, is that you have to deal with other factors of Lyme before replacing nutrition will work. It's part of the protocol.
Perry - did you watch her presenting Minding Your Mitochondria on TedX? Why ever would you think that if this worked the medicos would get on the band wagon? So far anything that enhances health and wellness is ignored as it is not patentable .. . whether it be diabetes or cancer, or MS . . . and iodine IS available in seaweed. What 'eating healthy' means different things to different people - and here we have something that works for most of us.
You notice how she doesn't smile? That's exactly the look I have and the look my mother had. It's the look of someone betrayed by the people she trusted (ie. medicine) who had to go digging in medical journals to find out the truth. I'd say for her and for people like us, the biggest struggle every day is to keep our attitude positive. When the "authorities" turn out to be working in concert to make you sick, it is likely to work simply because if you don't recognize and fight it, you get sick.... if you do recognize it... you might lose your will to fight. Don't lose your will to fight it. Go to PubMed today and find out what is doing the weird things in your life. It's interesting, I was reading the studies she mentioned in her talk. One of them slams red meat and "offal" (liver especially). Reading the references, you find out it's because people who live in wild places can get Vitamin A toxicity from eating the entire liver of an animal. So getting your vitamin levels tested is vital. You might have a problem using or storing Vitamin A and need some, or you might have too much and don't need it. She obviously knows she needs it. I just wanted to elaborate on that part of it. I'm pointing out that she's very helpful, but you can't just watch and do what she says mindlessly. Read up and decide what helps you. For me, I have Chron's issues. If I ate as much fiber as that, I'd be prostrated with abdominal pain and bloating, possibly flaring into full diarrhea. My system can't take it. Also MCT oils make the tight junctions of your gut wider, which don't help me a bit. For a normal person, that's fine. For me, that's a disaster. I do use coconut oil, but in small doses, sporadically. It's good for my brain, I know, so I keep it up, but I have to be careful with things that increase leaky gut, even if temporarily. See what I mean? "Other dietary components such as fatty acids, polysacchar- ides, and flavonoids are also known to alter TJ. The medium- chain fatty acids capric acid and lauric acid increase paracellular flux and cause a rapid decrease in TEER in Caco-2 cells (93). DHA, g-linolenic acid, and EPA have also been shown to decrease TEER and increase paracellular permeability of fluo- rescein sulfonic acid in a concentration-dependent manner" Not even fish oil is perfectly safe for me. I time this so that it doesn't affect me more than once a day, sometimes more rarely if I'm not well. Overall though, it helps more than hurts. Quote From: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21430248
+HighCarb Schwabe My mom had MS and I sure wish I knew about this in 2001 and even before.
Valerie Brown Cheers A friend of mine has MS, too. It is definitely no joke. Therefore, if Dr. Wahl's approach helps, if anything at all helps - great!!! On the other hand, Dr. Swank has invested 50 years of his life into researching MS and diet, including an examination of the long term results: I think I remember that ~95% of his patients have been free of symptoms/progression for the rest of their life, depending on their compliance, and slow (!) healing of the lesions in the brain was typically observed. This is up to now afaik the best result of any MS treatment that has ever been studied. It makes sense not to ignore that. It might be helpful to compare what Dr. Wahl is doing to Dr. Swank's work because in combination that might 1. allow us to develop a deeper understanding of the causes of MS 2. make it possible to develop (a) causal therapy/ies that work at (a) success rate(s) close to 100% 3. it might become possible to prevent MS, that is decrease the incidence as much as possible
HighCarb Schwabe I recently saw something mentioning planing a study comparing the Wahls Protocol diet with the Swank diet. I don’t know if this has happened yet or not, as I am not sure how old that mention of the comparison was/is.
I don't think she dismisses the importance of D3, I think she was just saying that it isn't necessary or expected to get it from food sources but rather from sunlight exposure.
Alexander Hardy exactly, she either is being dismissive of the topic or hasnt lookied into it enough to make comments that others will listen to because she is an authority, either way, medically and scientifically neglectful and unethical.
***** The problem is that you really can't get the proper amount of vitamin D from diet alone, and getting sunlight exposure is crucial for optimal health anyway (even ignoring the vitamin d production). Sure, you can meet the arbitrary RDA and even exceed it by a few hundred percent, but that still won't get you what you need. So if the only way to get proper levels of vitamin D is from the sun or supplements, why does it matter that her diet can't? I suppose it's technically possible to get all your D from food alone, but you'd have to gear the ENTIRE diet towards getting vitamin D, which doesn't make much sense since, again, it is extremely easy to get it from the sun or supplements.
***** You're still a believer in RDA? And you think that everyone can absorb all the vitamin D they need from food? Ok then. So um, how come when I came down with a deficiency of Vitamin D, my doctor gave me a 25,000 IU dose every week? What does the cheerleading squad have to say about that? And you're behind the times... the squad now says 4000 IU or more.. I"ve even heard 5000 IU. You could get 5000 IU from every MINUTE of sunlight exposure over 70% of your skin... there's no need to bake yourself crisp.
Your video on RUclips would have much more credibility if you quoted people correctly. If you are going to paraphrase his quote, please in the future state that fact.

Thank you Doctor Wahls! I appreciate you and am grateful for the information you freely share!!

@19:25 I would like to see those tables not relative to mass (here: Per 100g) but relative to macronutrient content (that is calories),like micronutrients per 1000kcals of apple, broccoli and liver. Not even fish oil is perfectly safe for me. I time this so that it doesn't affect me more than once a day, sometimes more rarely if I'm not well. Overall though, it helps more than hurts.

Is she aware of the work of Roy Swank on MS?
+HighCarb Schwabe My mom had MS and I sure wish I knew about this in 2001 and even before.
Swank's work because in combination that might
1. allow us to develop a deeper understanding of the causes of MS
2. make it possible to develop (a) causal therapy/ies that work at (a) success rate(s) close to 100%
3. it might become possible to prevent MS, that is decrease the incidence as much as possible
HighCarb Schwabe I recently saw something mentioning planing a study comparing the Wahls Protocol diet with the Swank diet. I don’t know if this has happened yet or not, as I am not sure how old that mention of the comparison was/is.

i absolutely applaud her candidness, but why is she so dismissive about vitd3?? curious and neglectful
You could get 5000 IU from every MINUTE of sunlight exposure over 70% of your skin... there's no need to bake yourself crisp.
steve b, do your homework.... you sound brainwashed
No, starvation and malnutrition doesn't kill. Yah, right.

Your video on RUclips would have much more credibility if you quoted people correctly. If you are going to paraphrase his quote, please in the future state that fact.

Interesting.
We hear jokes about the Darwin awards, or how each generation is "dumber than the last" and we are basically feeding ourselves that way
