Felt the rumble as the pilots applied max thrust to the jet in front of yours. And heard it rumble and thunder down the runway. Then it was your turn. When the pilot applied max thrust It sounded like a hundred kettle drums being played at once. Felt it in your bones as you were pushed back into your seat. Good video.
Honestly, I do so as well. Even though at Sunday noon here in Munich, it could be annoying to have a howling Boeing, whining Viscount or a roaring piston plane coming in every three minutes. For hours, mind you.
If I was rich I would have one of these 737 200 jets as a private jet right now that would only happen if I won the lottery gotta love the jt8d sound there’s no engine like it
Years ago at my airport, CYAM, we had either a Nordair or Transair 737-200, can't remember which, taxied to position onto RWY29 and put the main gear right on the threshold edge, obviously very heavy loaded, and went to full take off thrust and stayed there for at least 30 sec before brake release, talk about loud, and the dirt cloud behind it was amazing...and even more noise on the roll before rotating and lift off... miss those 737-200's
Flew this in the 70s to Kuala Lumpur via Malaysia Singapore Airlines (MSA) . Fairly comfortable flight. Those days, all commercial jets were loud anyway.
Always thought the 737-200s were a little louder at T/O than the 727s or DC-9s when observing like in this video. Think the "added" noise for the 737s engines is because the exhaust is much closer to the ground than the higher mounted ones.
Remember flying in these and 727s on United in and out of Fresno when I was really young every summer when we'd visit Ohio. A lof of times into and out of the old Stapleton
I remember before the stage 2 engine had mandatory hush kits. I think that was in the early 90s. I was working for SWA at Hobby Airport. Those 737s and 727s 200 series were loud! Especially on very hot days and loaded to the brim. They had to run those engines hard to take off. They would smoke and crackle like hell! Hated it then. Miss it now.! Those were the good old days. Too boring now. Everything is generic. But it is very beneficial to our environment.

One thing I and all other Airfans love about the B731's and B732's is their Fighter Jet like sound from the JT8D's.

I flew on a few of those back in the 80’s. I miss the sound and the smoke. I also miss the MD80’s I flew on.
737s were so much more interesting in the days of the old JT8D's.
We have a DC-8-63 with JT3Ds on it at Willow that they are getting ready to ferry. I cant wait to see that thing take off

They didnt want to taxi to the other side of the airport after de-icing so they took off with a tail wind and in turn gave it some gas
Keep in mind, this has Stage III hush kits as well and it still crackles like how it does without hush kits!!!! Absolutely fucking badass!!!!
