Having same issue on PC Desktop, but NOT on IPhone. After I switched from a modem/router with an ethernet connection, to a WiFi Router, I had the same problem for a few weeks. I tried everything! I finally found a solution, with help from an ATT tech support person. Tell your IP Provider to 'Reprovision' your connection. Also, ask your provider to detect where exactly the strongest tower is in your neighborhood and make sure your router is directly IN the window (I built a small shelf to raise it up higher) and turn the router to face as close you can to the direction of that tower. That fixed it! I prefer an ethernet connection, but in my case ATT was still using the old phone lines in my area, and one either got severed from digging, or some low life stole the copper wiring in the cables. I was forced to switch to WiFi and besides that and some slow speed issues initially, it's all been fixed. This went way beyond just clearing your browser cache. Good luck.
Hi, still with the issue? What worked for me: Search>Control Panel>User Account>Credentials Manager>Windows Credentials: look for Messenger in Generic Credentials, and remove it. Then restart the app on your desktop.
I was chatting with 2 different people. One person I can chat with and can answer him - but not the other person. The website says "cannot send" my message. Why?
My desktop messenger app is alwaya running but in every 10 minutes begins FREEZING . I can not use it after that ! I have to close it with the task manager and open once again ! what shell I do ? Reinstalling did not help !!!

Only today I received a notice as I was about to do a video call in Messenger on my computer to download the app. Why? I ended up having to use my Android instead. Why the change in having to download an app? Can anybody explain it? I've been researching it, and not really finding answers.

What if it's not an app? It's the regular Facebook website that's behaving strangely.
any luck on this? i have the same issue
I don't use the app but the website. Can you help with that?
I installed the Messenger program and it was working normally, but when I downloaded it again it says “Getting started.”
