Great video. I've been a NC surf/pier fisherman all my life but new to the fast cast action of stripers and false albies. I will get to your neck of the woods one day and give it a try. Thanks for posting all the gear you used for the trip. It cuts the guessing out for someone getting into the game.
Glad to hear you liked the video yeah its definitely worth fishing up here so hopefully you get a chance. Also on all my videos I always put the tackle info in the description just in case if its not obvious in the video or if I don't state it. Thanks and Tight Linezzz.
Awesome Video man! I love those Tsunami Rods if I'm correct, I prefer a 12 ft Tsunami at least Medium or Medium Heavy for popper and jigging as well, and I usually use a Shimano Stradic 6000 with 20-30 lb Power pro, good luck on the water friend.
Nice video, question? What's the split on that rod you're using? Is it a 50/50 or 70/30? Specs of the rod if you don't mind. I didn't see it in the description, just thought I ask. Thanks,
silly question but any advice on gaining confidence using plugs and lures? I primarily have been a bait guy here in south jersey. I've tried plugs with no success it gets discouraging ya know. thanks man.
great video as always...today it was great by me as well.blues and bass blitzing on outgoing tide.real fun! question? i need a new rod, seen u got a new 1.is your older one better or do u like this one for 1oz to 3oz lures? thx
Nice man yeah i got a few bass today and blues in the storm out here in Montauk. I love my older rod but i was always looking for another rod with a little more back bone to handle fish in rougher weather and throw larger plugs or lures. My Triumph was rated 1/2 to 21/2oz and my Tsunami is rated 3 to 5oz so a little more weight. Right now im just switching rods back and forth depending on conditions and it was good to break it in on a day like this. Tight lines keep fishing!
There just a cheap pair of steal toe boots from Walmart but the main tool on my feet which really matters is the Korkers Rocktrax plus. you can pair any comfortable boot you want with these strap on korkers.
Awesome vid. The albies were coming crazy far inshore where I'm at in CT a couple weeks ago. One on a 7" Gibbs pencil, two more on 5" popper from Hillyers in Waterford, and two more on deadly dicks blue and green- big and small.
I dont wear waiters until maybe like November but my gear is a JBL reversible wetsuit 1.5/2.5mm. and I wear Sim gator socks on my feet then a pair of boots with strap on Rocktrax korkers. Then to top it all off an AquaSkinz Men's Phantom Semi-Dry Jacket.
Awesome video man! Not everyone can cast like that , takes many years of practice. Wanted to ask what month was this video filmed ? And could one fish w bunker chunks? Or only puppers?
Just watched this video can I ask where in the USA you are fishing your blue fish are unbelievable we call them TAILOR here in Australian and our average is 2 to 5 pounds Thanks for a great video
No sadly i didnt have enough time to with work all weekend. I had some killer spots that could of produced winning fish. My buddy Mike got Third in the Bluefish though,
This was my first outing with it and i was looking for a 9 to 9.5ft rod that had a little more heavy action to it for throwing heavier plugs and well it got the job done. My St.Croix Triumph which was my main tool for fishing a lot of different places is only rated up to 21/2oz where this rod is rated up to 5oz so a little bit more power and it should work nicely lifting small fish up the jetty under mtk light house.
Montauk Light House, Down Town across from 7/11, or camp hero you can park and have beach access there other areas but they require East Hampton Town Parking Permits.
Thanks man, nice fish! Ive been catching a lot of fish this season but since the end of august i haven't gotten a cow but I'm determined to change that. Tight Lines!
Yeah gopro cameras need to be a part of the arsenal if you want to capture the moment. Ive been there though even with a gopro. When i first started filming it seemed i would always hook the biggest fish when the battery would die now i have all the batteries i need to stay fully charged.
Chris C these gloves are Nike MVP select gloves and they work pretty good but if you fish almost every day eventually they get beat pretty bad. This video here was these gloves last trip then I got a brand new pair that should last to next season and beyond. Sometimes I get 1 to 2 seasons out of pair surf casting 4-7 days a week before the cast finger starts ripping and falling off.
If u like that rod I suggest not hooking the lure into the guide like that, it damages the ceramic ring on the inside of the guide , hook the lure to the stem of the guide
Sick video man, love fishing in these conditions on a hot bite!!!
Thanks man yeah when the conditions get like this its hard not to hit the water
Ahh I wanna get back to NY so bad. Looks like a great time.
Montauk can be a magical place. Last time I fished south side I caught maybe thirty bass over 20 lbs!! Great vid.
Really exciting with constant action, and especially enjoyed your enthusiasm!

How do you work the pencil popper with the line in between your two fingers?
i only like to carry one rod with me when surf fishing or fishing the jetty. what rod specs would you recommend as an all around rod

How do u like that fishing rod?
i have it with a penn battle 2500 and i LOVE it for flinging lures
This was my first outing with it and i was looking for a 9 to 9.5ft rod that had a little more heavy action to it for throwing heavier plugs and well it got the job done. My St.Croix Triumph which was my main tool for fishing a lot of different places is only rated up to 21/2oz where this rod is rated up to 5oz so a little bit more power and it should work nicely lifting small fish up the jetty under mtk light house.
