It bothers me so much when someone says a molesting paedophile father wasn't enough of a reason to kill him. What!? How does anyone in 2023 have such a profound lack of understanding of how deeply traumatizing sexual abuse/incest is.

@@judithwerner5301 maybe they should redefine 'molestation' as the word seems to imply that it is not that serious to what it really was - what it really was, was systematic, persistent longterm rape (physical, emotional and psychological rape). If money was not involved in this case, the sentences would have bern lighter. But money or no money, rape is wrong. Perhaps they should have sought a posthumous conviction for what their father did, because he was never charged or tried, it has always been referred to as 'allegations'.

Vlad really doesn’t research his topics!! Neither of the Menendez brothers threatened their therapist! The therapist let his then mistress listen in on his conversations with the brothers without their knowledge. When the therapist started abusing his mistress and threatened her that her life was in danger from what she knew about the confessions she got spooked and went to the police. She then agreed to wear a wire where the therapist was caught on tape discussing the confessions. Because he broke the doctor/patient privilege by letting her listen in on private sessions with the brothers..he was not compelled by that privilege. He then took little convincing to become the star witness for the prosecution.
The therapist then lost his license to practice a few years after as he was having sex with his female patients!

@@CantTellYou Their pre-planning and their actions and behavior after the murders show that they not only planned out the murders but took numerous steps to cover their tracks so that they wouldn't be caught. If evading justice was never their intent for example, why did they collect all the spent shotgun shells from the scene of the crime before the police arrived? Why did they dispose of the rifles they used somewhere in Mulholland Drive before they made their 911 call to the police? Why did they call 911 and say that someone murdered their parents but left out one crucial detail -- that they were the someone who murdered their parents? Why did they tell detectives that the mafia put a hit on their parents? Most people know why, but these folks, including the brothers, they have dozens of excuses on hand to explain and excuse their actions in the hopes that they can make an argument for having their life sentences overturned on appeal.
And keep in mind that the defense tried to claim imperfect self defense in order to secure manslaughter convictions. You purchase your weapons with someone else's ID, murder your parents by storming into their living room with guns blazing and then claim imperfect self defense, irregardless of whatever "future" threat they believed their parents posed to them. If they believed that their parents posed a threat to them in the future, they should have just gotten up and left, call the police, etc..
Unless the parents were in the commission of threatening their lives or well being in that moment they really have no leg to stand on. That's the central question that should be at the heart of the defense, but instead all the defense offered was innuendo, crocodile tears, and unfound claims that the parents were posing an imminent threat to them at the time they were murdered. Sociopaths are accomplished liars and they can conjure up whatever pent up emotion they need to get what they want. I love how supporters like to pretend that there has never been a sociopath in history who ever cried convincingly in court, or in regular life in general. Just look at a number of youtubers. The tears may be real, but the sincerity is absent.

It wasn't until they were being tried for murder that they began wth character assassinating them. Just something worth pondering over, seeing as how the groupies claim that their behavior after their murders were nothing out of the ordinary. There are reasons why the brothers' activities raised the eyebrow of detectives and it wasn't because the brothers were being singled out and persecuted by the Beverly Hills Police Department.

When you're abused in THAT way from age 6, it significantly affects your judgement and reasoning. it's easy to say "move out and get a job", when you have the luxury of rational thinking, but the brothers didn't. For years they were abused and had their minds twisted, and for years they were denied proper counselling to fix their minds (only got counseling as young adults, just before killing their parents). How were they just meant to suddenly gain the wisdom of the ordinary person after a decade of torment? Soldiers struggle for years to return to civilian mindset after months away on a campaign. Same goes for other PTSD sufferers
Regarding the other family members, remember this was the 80s and José was powerful and rich. In the 80s, you can do what you want to your kids without anyone caring. The family members have also said that they never believed it because the idea of their successful relative raping his kids was too outrageous to believe, no matter how many warning signs there were.
Was parricide wrong? Objectively yes. But if you're father did to you or your brother what José did to his boys, you're definitely gonna consider murdering him and then spending his money in celebration.

Very unfair assessment though Val of the boys. Very inappropriate not to vehemently condemn child abusers. If you were informed on what happened to the boys you would feel ashamed for what you’re saying. Multiple other people and family have confirmed that they were abused and Jose abused other people as well. Everyone can’t be lying. I hope you or one of your loved ones never has to experience that to understand why they did what they did. Not only was it incest but child s.a. That started for one of the brothers when they were 6 years old. Horrific. Not a laughing matter.

It's insensitive how ignorant people can be about this case after all these years and get facts wrong. The OJ trial didn't happen before the Menendez case, it happened after it. And that impacted tremendously on the rulings and defense. The issue with the mother, spending spree all of it are common questions that are answered again and again.
It's funny how you'll be more okay and open with interviewing and laughing with a mob boss than believing these boys who were violently abused throughout their lives.
The truth is that it's already in your heart. And if I said they are innocent and God knows that they are innocent, you will not believe them. And if I said they are liars but they are not liars, you will believe me. And so I'm not gonna say a word like Leslie did other than have patience.

He said he felt threatened yet kept visiting with the brothers, never called the police to report what happened, and was actually recorded laughing about the whole situation and using it to threaten his wife and mistress. He wanted his mistress to disguise her voice as Erik’s to threaten his own wife. And he was joking about this. I honestly don’t believe he was threatened.
