Everyone’s sweating Denzel, and deservedly so. But can we please acknowledge the guy playing the lead Russian? He’s utterly convincing as an amoral predator that you’re thrilled to see killed. Now THAT’S talent!

Exactly. In all his arrogance,he doesn't even realize he's about to die. Brilliant acting.
The best part about this outstanding scene is Denzel shows the character really hates killing anyone and tried to be civil till he had no choice.
Apologizes to his wife at the end of this scene too because he promised her he wouldn't go back to doing this.
Him closing the door 3 times is symbolic of him giving them 3 chances which they didn't take

Denzel is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors to ever live.
I couldn't agree more!
Absolutely true. He can play a heinous villain, or the greatest hero, be absolutely captivating, and deathly frightening... All in the same breath. Him, Kevin Spacey, Tom Hardy. Best actors
Agree man !!
I agree also!

One of my favorite bits in this scene is the part where Robert is constantly opening and closing the door, symbolizing his internal battle with himself. He wants to remain true to the promise he made to his late wife that he won't walk this violent path anymore, but these gangsters have proven themselves to be so despicable that he can't stand the thought of just letting them walk.
I felt it was to ritualistic to simply be an internal battle. too precise movements to be a struggle. I felt it was something like ocd. much like him counting the seconds of the encounter, adding up the time it actually took. it was all extremely methodical, and i thought the opening and the closing of the door was the same. very similar to people with ocd who do things like turn lights on and off 3 times before shutting them off completely.
Did anyone else think it eerie that he opened and closed the door four times and he then dispatched all four of them in that room?
@@johnmwalker8309 either ocd or a ritual, but badass either way
@@johnmwalker8309 I think so too. Way too calm to be an internal battle. I guess it should symbolise the amount of times the door couldve opened and closed with each one of those gangsters leaving alive instead of how it then went on.
I though he was judging the thickness of the door and if sound would go through
Robert McCall is the epitome of "I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me." Very chilling and well-executed role.
quite literally
the way he open and shuts the door several times. fighting not to go back to that place in his mind, before he unleashes on those guys chills

@@Marzellus1991actually he has OCD
Just the way this scene builds up to the mayhem we know is about to unfold, the way the tension is built, then released, is masterful. That and how direct, simple, and powerful Denzel's moves are throughout makes it all the more vicious, and how he saved the bearded henchman for last to really make him suffer with those corkscrews...yikes. Denzel is a fantastic action movie lead and he is just golden.
Easily the best fighting scene of this type ever made. It's also the gratification, the whole build up to it makes anyone really hate these arrogant thugs, in our minds we see everyone who's ever treated us badly or wrong or arrogantly abused their power against us, it's primal, so when he unleashes it's one of the most gratifying scenes to watch, a pure angel of vengeance in all it's glory descending on the wicked.. The symbolism of Denzel slowly and deliberately turning each of the skulls on the desk towards the three men as a foreshadowing of what's to come, is simply chilling and brilliant.
@Phil Dimotsantos
I think maybe the word you were looking for was "foreshadowing", rather than "forboding."
Or maybe "forewarning." "Foreboding" is something you feel inside of you.
Moving the skulls is basically warning the Russians in advance, forewarning, that shit's about to get real.
But it's "foreshadowing" for the audience, so we can be prepared for him to kick some serious ass.
In other words:
"Watch out."
"Ass kicking coming."

Better than all john wick movies combined
ABSOLUTELY!!!
I agree, the action in John Wick is too over-the-top to be believable, here it's actually quite realistic.
Nah these two wick and Denzel are the best 💯💯💯💯
The first John wick will always be the best the second. Was okay. Equalizer is great though
My main problem with John Wick movies it's that he's always portraited as invincible, yet always winning fights in the edge, and about do die...
Equalizer movies show a guy that's never sweating, never injured, always master of the situation
That wiped the smile and laughter off their faces, especially the long hair one. Well acted
"That girl is still child. Can still sell her as virgin. This makes her prime earner for a good while." So chilling. And to know so many women, children, and even some men are forced into this every day.
Most chilling thing is that there are sooo many ppl who’s willing to buy those type of sick service.
@@dawlessbeats6223 Even more people that are so scared of being ruled by monsters they'd rather deny their existence, and close their eyes on truth.
Yes in place like India they do this to millions of girls and then kill them afterwards. Sick people.
The other thing to think about is why there is unquenchable demand for this kind of thing. Things have not always been this way.
Maybe management of symptoms only and not getting to deep roots has not worked for modern society, as it gets more and more deluded about itself and what residue it's ways hide.
@@dawlessbeats6223 I am pretty sure they don'tshow their customers the fact that their prostitutes are non consenting. Prostitues exist everywhere no shame in taking that service. The shame is on those who force people to become prostitute.
I love the way McCall totally side-steps the question, ‘Who are you?’ and completes the countdown to the point of death.
The "Who are you?" question was a theme throughout the movie. Besides this scene, it was asked by one of the dirty Boston cops, by Teddy, the oligarch's lead henchman, and by the oligarch (Pushkin) himself. His response to Pushkin is classic: "Everybody wants to know."
yet, for somebody so concerned with timing, his counting of seconds is awfully slow.
😀@@vanivari359 Very good!
It also answers the gangster's question, "I'm the guy who counts down your death."
good one!@@filmdude9970
Every guy in that scene deserves an Oscar, but boy Denzel definitely killed it. His facial expression when Slavi calls Alina “the trouble maker” was epic. Basically saying “you’re a dead man”.
“Her life’s gonna go on. Your’s is gonna end right here on this fucking floor, over 98 hundred dollars. You should’ve taken the money.” That line was hard asf😮💨
My favorite part was when he repeatedly opens and closes the door. It's the perfect representation of what's happening mentally with the character. "I promised her I'd never do this again" "I'm Alina's only hope" "I promised my dead wife" "Alina needs you" "Leave" "Stay" "Leave" "Stay"
*Door locks* "OK, this is now happening"
I really like your comment... you hit the nail on the head!
I think it was an OCD thing. You see how neatly he folds things and how he is always tidying up around himself. The door opening and closing seemed like another manifestation of his compulsions
@@scottverni8333 I agree, he's very much OCD and needs everything precisely as he arranges it. Watch the beginning of Equalizer 2 when he's at the bar on the train and starts unfolding the napkin and rotating it until he's satisfied with it, and taps his spoon 7 times on the cup.
@@davecothran
I love that part when says excuse me as he taps his spoon.
That's a good point about how his action at the door reflects some internal dialogue or indecision as he tries to decide whether to walk away or exact some justice on these thugs for what they've done and are doing. Like other things in his life, it also reflects his thoughtfulness and precision, as he waits for the right moment to start the meting out of justice and then collects himself as he observes various elements around the room that will play a role in his destruction of each thug. He has an intense focus combined with supreme confidence that allows him to relax and execute what he intends to do.

I like The Equalizer and John Wick but what I liked alot about Denzel in this scene was he had no wasted movements. Every action/reaction was swift, fast and with a purpose. Hitting certain guys with kill shots while wanting others to suffer so he could take his time to punish them. Plus, the music made it feel even more badass.

@@HerrinSchadenfreude those 9 seconds were for his corkscrew moves and extras that were unnecessary... he spilled 9 seconds on the guy but could have floored him immediately with 1 hit.
i flecking love this scene its so good
If you ever see Denzel in Real Life and you try to talk to him... if he looks like he's setting his stopwatch... Run! 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Set that stopwatch and do the count down 1 1000 2 1000
Call me sick, but I love this scene...pure good vs evil!
You need to see the second film. McCall is very honest about the fact that he is not "good".
THE MORAL OF THIS CIP: TAKE THE MONEY:)
I could watch movie with Denzel washing clothes for 2 hours. This man belongs everywhere.
u might wanna check this fight scene too "ruclips.net/video/zULrIk9D8Us/видео.html"
Honorable mention: ruclips.net/video/GhAjhoOFgoI/видео.html
1. Don't kill John Wick's dog
2. Don't kill Tony Jaa's elephant
This is a great movie. By far this is THE BEST 9 minutes in the whole movie!!!
Hello maureen how are you doing today
Denzel Washington , um ator que será lembrado por ceculos , sou seu fã cara que 👏👏👏👏👏.
Though I have never seen the movies, I love these outtakes just like I do the ones from John Wick. Wildly implausible, physically totally impossible and legally unjustifiable, each fight is a catharsis of vengeance for everyman and everywoman everywhere. But it is just Hollywood. A quick fix of impossible feats of fighting and heroism, then quickly back to reality... Sort of like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A guilty pleasure of violent choreography. Then back to washing the dishes and folding the laundry. :)
This is one of the best fight scenes ever and one of my favorite scenes ever in film. Denzel demonstrates total control of the situation. He first surveys his environment very well, then plans and then acts, not allowing his emotions to get the better of him. That's the way you win in life. Very few times, if any, do you go in guns blazing.
@Rodney Dove that's also one of the best scenes! The Warriors is a cult classic, and it's on a whole different level. 💪
Never gets old…I love how he seeks weapons and studies the room before he strikes…I love this movie!!!!
You're right. It never gets old.
its pure refreshing to watch him in action , taking care of trash , like these guys , who thinks they know where they have him , when its the complete other way around . and their boss talks aboute being insulted by him , what aboute the girl they ONLY PLAYED with , look whos talking .
"love how he seeks weapons and studies the room before he strikes" yup, he notices a guy with a gun sitting in the corner and then walks to the center of the room, completely ignoring the guy with the gun😆
Another thing, why is this guy with guns get way to close to the him like if you have a gun stay away don't let him grab gun? And this happens many times in the movie.
Slopwork.
with a fucking pencil....
I love his movies he is a master at his craft
Шедевр!
I like the part that he is so sure of himself. For him, it is time it will take to finish all of them. Also, he does not lose the counting all the way till the end.
Superbly crafted scene by director, cinematographer, great casting and Denzel exceeding expectations once again. This extended version is like a movie unto itself.
Not forgetting the brilliant Stunt Team led by Keith Woulard : the sequel is equally good.
..pity its just an inferior remake of the Edward Woodward classic . . . .
A mess from a tactical standpoint
That long haired dude really got screwed.
😆😆
Yeah corkscrewed
This guy will never die🤣
J'aime tellement ce film !!! Et depuis que je l'ai vu et revu encore et encore ;l'une de mes armes de prédilection est le tire-bouchons, même si j'aime aussi beaucoup le pistolet à clous 😀 😘😘
5:35 mom always told me do not to play with the door because I'm gonna hurt my finger, but when Denzel plays...
This extended scene is great. Top notch acting by all. Such controlled violence by Denzels character. I even love how he times himself, predicts 16 seconds and hits 19 showing that he is a bit rusty even though it was completely effortless.
Exactly. Showing his rust. Imagine in his prime for that character. I say 13 seconds
to be fair he spent a majority of those seconds watching that guy fall lol
@@jasminjelovac9416 This is exactly it. He's mentally evaluating, hmmm, they took longer falling down than I expected. Ah well. Not too shabby.
The guy killed with the corkscrews, McCall looks him dead in the eye the whole time he was killing him. That is ruthless!
@@jasminjelovac9416He would've made his time had he pushed the guy down instead. Hahaha...
Love how the first people he neutralized were the only two in the room with guns because they opposed the bigger threat
The fact he said im sorry after all that 😂
I think the russian actor probably carried this scene along with Denzel. If it wasn't for his performance, the satisfaction of it wouldn't be as great as it is. Respect to these two actors.
The Equalizer, John Wick and Taken are the best movies
When Donnie Yen takes on the Japanese after his friend's death in IP man, that pretty epic too.
try the raid redemption, its at the top of the list for me
Transporter too
Najlepsza scena jaką widziałem , jeżeli chodzi o świadomość tu i teraz.
